Searching for P&Q in the Winter sun! Help?
To cut a long story short, as a motor-homing couple with e-bikes without children or a dog, we would like to go abroad for a 3/4 month period over the Winter. Preferably a sunny warm location. We would love recommendations on peaceful and spaced out vehicle sites with views please!!

You will be looking at the south of Spain or Portugal and most motorhomers consider Aires as well as campsites. Peace and quiet is scarce on the coast and warmth is scarce if you go far inland. Your choice.
But remember you are limited to 90 days in the EU and that includes travelling from your arrival point.

Turiscampo is also one of the site that Brittany Ferries is offering as part of a package with a ferry crossing so may be worth looking at.
During our recent foreign travel replacement holiday we discussed the BF offer but our friends, who have done a number of trips to Spain in the winter, originally in January, said it was not for them as the offer ended in March and they had not always had great weather in Jan/Feb.

Thank you all so far for your replies! Have taken into account the 90 day stay. Having sold our house, put everything into storage whilst awaiting a house build and now living full time in our motorhome, anywhere South of here will be warmer hopefully!

We've found that sites along the Costa de la Luz, between Cadiz and Portugal to be less full, sometimes foreign visitors being scarce, in January and February.
More sunshine guaranteed around Almeria way but the area has been despoiled with plastic cloche waste. Again our visits were February.
The above comes with a caveat as we haven't been down to the south for a number of years.

Albufeira in Portugal has a good site, have stayed on it for 6 months, heated shower blocks, plenty of resident Brits all around, most locals have a good understanding of English.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
If you do go down there may I suggest the ferry leaving at midnight from Portsmouth on a Sunday arriving Bilbao at 07.30 Tuesday? This will give you a whole days driving and you might be able to get down to Caceres, for a night or twos stay, which is approximately 1/2 way.

Camping Rosaleda is a nice site with an easy cycle to the main town.
I actually walked back to the site from the beach at Calas de Roche. My wife had dropped me off and returned to site to watch the Royal Wedding. I wouldn't recommend it as it was far too hot and a short cut turned out to be anything but. It would however be a reasonably easy cycle.

Having 'discovered' Benicassim and Bonterra Park on our forst excustion to Spain we fell in love with the town and area and have spent a portion (of varying length) pf the winter there for the past ten years....along with other exploration, of course...including a tour of Portugal which took in the sotes mentioned.
one point, Benicassim is a tad north of Valencia so not a huge way south, and weather is usually great on the end of year months....till end November for sure....but it can be a bit damp in December and early Jan...
we generally get down there mid January and the weather is starting to warm up nicely...we are booked to return this year, again mid Jan, but 'discussion' has started as we look towards a change in weather here...

We are due to travel to Santander end of August. I have written to five campsites and none require pre booking. On my list is picos de Europe, Salamanca, Caceres and one near Malaga but inland.
As soon as we arrive we will need to pick up food for a few days, if anyone knows a supermarket with good parking in Santander please share.
we are in a motor caravan and don’t fancy trying to park in narrow streets to buy milk and spread.
happy travels.

For shopping… big Carrefour hypermarket with big parking near the airport, but may be closed on Sundays so check.
For camping…take ACSI camping card as your sites may be into discount period by you get there.
Good wishes.
