It's a bit unfair

I am equally confused CS. Initially I thought it was a complaint about short stays. However, I believe what Briang is saying is that there is insufficient pitch choice due to folk only stopping a night or two and that he should be able to choose his pitch a year ahead.

I did read your post properly but, unfortunately, you didn't explain your logic clearly.
What you now seem to be saying is that you want the ability to book a specific pitch which is a completely different issue to both the subject of this thread and the comments you made earlier.

We have a caravan and a MH.
When going away we rarely stay anywhere longer than 4 days, to be perfectly honest there isn't many places I would want to stay longer especially in the UK.
Even with the caravan we have done 1 nighters, in 2018 we did 4 one nighters on the bounce going over to France.
With the MH we tend to stop around lunchtime, have a bite to eat then get the bikes off and have a look around, if we like it we stay a few more days if not we move on. That off course is over there.
Over here we have to make a decision before we book, will we like it, does it have enough to occupy us for 3 or 4 days. So I can see that a lot of folk will just book a few days to check out an area, then go back again if the really like it and want to see more.
We only stay 1 night when going south to the ferries, why should we be forced to stay longer than we need.

Generally speaking families normally step up to the proverbial plate when help is needed for their own members. So I wouldn't personally suggest to anyone on here what they should or shouldn't do.
It's great if you are free to choose holidays ad lib but I expect there are quite a few who have to alter plans, book and rebook to suit life events, caring duties, illness etc etc. So back on thread I don't think the system needs changing as we all might need the flexibility at any given point.
That's my three "whatsit" worth as I think the present system just about works for most. CAMC could adopt the C&Cc approach and have minimum bookings at peak times which would probably curtail serial speculative bookings, if they exist?

Thanks for confirming you agree with my factual comment👍

I've done a search on LTB and there are various meanings, one site gave 35, some of them are quite rude .
I assume that if it's used on mumsnet it's not the rude ones? What does it stand for?

I thought MumsNet was about supportive parenting🤷🏻♂️. Well, well!

Some of it is, but certain sections would have you gasping out loud at some of the shenanigans that folks post about. Some threads are a very sad insight into the dysfunctional lives and relationships that pass as everyday life for a minority. It makes this forum read like Watch with Mother.😂

I think I’ll give that a miss😄

Same reason that people who are not members of Caravan Club join this one . . . !

I was in the supermarket the other day 🤔 and someone had taken the last 24 rolls of toilet paper.
It's a bit unfair.... 😕
But that's life isn't it 😮the early bird gets the worm. 🤭

It’s a dog eat dog world….I preferred it when it was the other way around.

I have another issue I tried ivain to bock 7 or 10 consecutive nights at several club sites only to find intermittent days this was never the case several years ago when we were just caravan club now we are getting out numbered by campervans that only stay2 or 3 nights and making it more and more difficult to get 7 or 10 consecutive nights I think it is about time we had designated area campervan only and caravans only with a limited number of pitches for 2 or 3 or 4 night stays if not a 40 year caravanner will leave my beloved club

That's a bit of an assumption, isn't it? We don't have a campervan, but sometimes only book 3 or 4 nights. Why shouldn't we? And I don't think for one minute that as caravan owners we are alone in booking 3 or 4 nights.
Actually, rather than just looking at the main club sites, try looking at CLs; you may be very nicely surprised at how many of them have space, where you may not be able to get onto a club site. We prefer CLs, they often have much more spacious pitches than club sites, and are also more peaceful and quiet, not to mention a lot cheaper!
BTW, I like your username, we also take our cat with us, and she also much prefers CLs, as there is usually a lot more space for her to have a walk and to be able to sit outside, on her lead, to have a good mooch round "her" personal space.

I can perhaps see your logic, whilst not agreeing with it, for limiting the number of pitches for 2, 3 or 4 night stays. However, why separate areas for caravans and MH’s? Currently quite a few MH’s are staying for a week or more, often erecting large awnings just like a caravan. Similarly some caravans only stop a few days

I'll tell you two things I think to be unfair.
- Blaming one section of the membership for your failure to book a site when there is not one shred of evidence to back it up.
- Plagiarising another poster's username in such a way as to cause confusion.

Well except we all pay the same membership fee and therefore everyone expect equal treatment and access to sites no matter what LV they have.

There is a precedence, Black Horse Farm has and areas set aside for those using the ferries and tunnel. Dosen't Rookesbury Park have a similar area? It is common on the continent to have a smaller area set aside, not exclusively, but more usually for motorhomes. I guess that is for similar reasons to what the OP describes?

Admittedly it was a few years ago but when we used the ferry pitches at BHF there were loads of caravans using them, although that might vary with time of year. Personally I think there is a huge difference to what TTCA is suggesting. The ferry pitches are just that, for the use of everyone catching or coming from a ferry and isolated so as not to cause inconvenience to longer stay members. As to over there, I would assume that isn’t a club site where folk pay a membership.

Not how I read the post, they are particularly referring to MH as being the short stayers and wanting separate areas. As I put in an earlier post, whilst not agreeing, I could see some logic in a short stay area, but separate areas just don’t make sense.
