Passe Sanitaire required on some French campsites
The French Passe Sanitaire or the NHS App proof of vaccination will now, with immediate effect at some, have to be shown on arrival at many French campsites if you wish to use any of the communal facilities including the shower blocks, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, etc. French Passe Sanitaire - changes from 21/07/2021
But it is now possible to upload your NHS App proof of vaccination QR codes (2) to the Tousanticovid App, and it can be done quickly if you have the NHS App on one phone and Tousanticovid on the other. The French App is in English, and it's simple enough and the scan works well but not with a printed copy of the QR codes. The NHS App is accepted as proof but it may be simpler all round to use the French version and upload the codes from the Travel section of the NHS App.
My French friend Jean-Pierre was supposed to be playing in a band at Pavilion Royal campsite in Bidart tonight, but the event has been cancelled because too many people don't yet have the App, either because they refuse to use it, or because they're not vaccinated. There is no mention, yet, of this on the Pavilion Royal campsite website.

Thanks for the info ValD. I did wonder when I heard it announced yesterday if we would be able to download the French version or not.
Will have to see if we can do that with the Scottish version
If not then will just have to hope our proof of vaccination will be accepted.
Lutz where can you get the WHO certificate one from please.

Thanks PD
I already have the standard NHS App and have just checked and the vaccine confirmation is in their. There are two options, Domestic and Travel so fill in the appropriate one. I filled in Domestic and it came up with all my details and test results/dates

You need to download Tousanticovid, go through all the 'allows....', Activate it, and then it will come up with a screen showing a small 'Scan certificate' in the bottom right hand corner, for you to scan in your UK Covid codes. It's much easier with two phones. I opened my Tousanticovid App on my phone, but logged into my NHS App on David's. I went into my NHS 'Share Covid Details' then 'Travel' - that comes up with your first vaccination, use the Tousanticovid App to scan the NHS QR Code directly. It's all in English so it's easy, then scan the second QR code, and you're sorted. Then I did the reverse with David's phone for Tousanticovid and mine for him to open up the NHS App. It sounds more complicated than it is in reality.

For those who are a little hesitant about going to France because of the necessary documentation, we crossed the channel via the Eurotunnel on Tuesday lunchtime 20th July. If you’ve already uploaded your French Covid19 Declaration and have your vaccination status on the NHS App it was seamless going through the French border control. Those who have not uploaded the information on the Eurotunnel web site can take along paper copies and have them validated in the Eurotunnel terminal in Folkestone. Either way there was not problem if you can prove you’re fully vaccinated (you only need a negative PCR test if you’re not fully vaccinated). We’re on our 3rd French site as we travel south and only one of them have asked for proof of our vaccination status. Our NHS App details were accepted on the one who asked. I you’re staying at a number of sites in France it’s probably worth downloading the French App - it’s always better to have too much paperwork than not enough.
Our next challenge is to cross into Italy. I fear we will have to wait until 30th July when the Italian entry regulations change (I hope).

Dave thanks for the informative commentary.
we are booked on the tunnel for next Wednesday we have uploaded all the documents to eurotunnel so hopefully that will go ok.I now have the French COVID app, so that’s good.
we are taking our dogs we were told there are additional measures? we have done all the health certification. In the past the French border control didn’t even acknowledge their existence. Did you see any additional measures being carried out?
finally there is along list of banned goods, I’m not sure if I can take marmite, curry sauce or baked beans? Any issues?
Enjoy your trip Lee

we should have been going this coming weekend, just driving, 2 cars 3 dogs enroute to Spain, return end of August. We cxld as there is no guarantee that by end of August Spain & France will not be on the Red list, which has serious implications.
It would appear that your are not allowed to take dog food into France, although the regulations are a bit vague as to which types of dog food, as we would have been travelling with my daughter who has Spanish residency and would be returning home, the regulations seem to imply that she can carry dog, so we could have put our dog food into her car, crazy but there you go.
Just make sure your dogs rabies documentation is up to date, last trip we made this was checked, going out and return, and as it is a fairly new requirement since leaving the EU i Think they were being doubly cautious , enjoy

Evening Lee
I’m afraid we didn’t bring any pets with us so I can’t answer your first question. Re the banned goods. We disposed of all meat and dairy products before we arrived at the terminal but we were not asked about what we had on board other than a check on the LPG cylinders. I thing the border controls have more important things to think of at the moment than to bother with what we can and can’t take into the EU. I’m sure I read somewhere that pet foods were exempt from the regulations but don’t quote me. In all the years we’ve been using Eurotunnel, at all hours of the day and night, I’ve never see the terminal so empty as it was last Tuesday afternoon. Our train was virtually empty!
Enjoy your holiday.

The WHO certificate of vaccination is a little yellow booklet which contains details of all vaccinations that have ever been administered to me. It's printed in several languages so that one can use it anywhere in the world. I got it from the clinic that carried out the first vaccination.

I assume this is what Lutz refers to, never thought to get COVID jab added to it but I think my surgery would do the necessary if required.

Thanks all for you comments
I tend to agree that the border force are likely to too busy to be checking inside van. I think we will leave the meat and dairy at home.
Like yourself Dave I’ve used the tunnel many times you say the tunnel quiet. Is France open? We have travelled out of season before and lots of sites closed or empty we have often been to only MH on site.
we checked on dog food and whilst I agree the guidance is not clear and takes a lot of finding. You are allowed to take 2kg, I cannot see French border control getting too upset if have a little more on board.in my opinion France cannot be put in the red zone. Where would you park all the returning caravans and Motorhomes? Where would you quarantine all the dogs? I think the only option would be to ban travel to France.
looking forward to travelling Lee

Couldn't do that as here in Scotland we didn't get cards when we got vaccinated. Why they have done everything different I don't know but its a right pain in the butt.
Managed to speak to someone on the vaccination verification help line this morning. They assured me that the paper copy does have a QR code on it, also that the Scottish government are working on an app. Why not use the same one as England
Saw today that Grant Shapps has had a meeting with his French opposite person re an app compatible to both countries. Its been created by Eurotunnel, looks promising.

Pig headedness more like.
Its all getting very annoying now, we are not yet at that point so why not use the same. We had the same issue over appointments.
England were very quick off the mark to go online, we got there 6 months later and only because the younger age groups were not being contacted via letters.
It doesn't take a genius to know that they move around a lot and fail to update their records.
I'm really getting fed up with being treated like a third class citizen. Just because nippy wants her name in the record books. If they get what their after, I can see that we will move out of Scotland and we won't be alone.

So we're going to have Border Force hiking Zodiacs and asylum seekers out of the river Tweed now are we?

In answer to your question Lee, France is very much open and the sites we’ve used so far appear to be as busy as ever at this time of the year. We’re now on our 4th site travelling south east and only one asked for proof of vaccination status. They were perfectly happy to acknowledge the NHS App. We’re seen a number of UK ‘vans and motorhomes but the ones we saw today were heading for the Med coast. There are lots of caravans and motorhomes on the roads and on sites from the Netherlands.

Hi All
we have been in southern France for a week now. As reported France is very open, the sites seem to at the usual occupancy levels. The only difference is the English have been replaced by the French Vans.
We have seen maybe 10 vans English in a week we are currently at Baynac castle there are 5-8 English families here. Normally 3 or 4 times that.
we found space at every site we visited.
travelling with the dogs is not a problem at the tunnel, they now have a pet travel centre the same as Calais. You scan your pet the attendant checks the health certificate and your on your way.The only change to Border control is you get a stamp in your passport. They showed no interest in the van.
we have the French sanitare app but have not been asked for it. Only one site asked for proof of vaccination. They were happy with the NHS paper copy of our vaccines
Thankfully we now won’t need to quarantine when we get back now so we get another 5 days in France.😀
Normality is slowly retuning.
