We have always had a mixture I think. Good and bad in all generations. There are some great kids out there who are really considerate of other people, animals, the planet.
As has always been the case, it's the minority who behave badly, or have the grasping ways, and they're the ones who are noticed because they're not the norm.
To see an elderly poster here being downright rude to another in a childish manner certainly contradicts his view of it being the younger generation who are at fault for not showing respect.

Shame on ‘us’! But I reckon it can be done. The world is changing, far more aware of green issues and climate change, for more understanding of the needs of younger generations and the future in general. We’ve had to drag some along and a few still resist but their day is coming to an end. The future is bright! Keep smiling and caring!😁

If your last paragraph usual is a veiled insult, then you need to think about the reason for the posts and read the the receiving ? posters info about them self , before trying not successfully. to be clever, and see it is quite justified what was posted

I don't try to be clever or make veiled insults. I view all posts with logic and attempt to reply in the same manner. I find it quite an effective way of making myself understood.

I'm going to be quite blunt now JVB but there are some who are ideal targets for misinformation and perpetuating it by repeating the misinformation which may not have any basis whatsoever.
You have absolutely no evidence for denigrating the so called "growing majority of younger generations."
And the "out of control" attitudes? We've just been through a terrible epidemic and people generally, of all ages have shown control and responsibility towards others.
I hope people have a good summer and that includes safely socialising on sites.

and i share your sentiments 100 pct, some 15 years ago i was living and working in Scotland, my main family i.e. Gkids etc lived outside Portsmouth, twice a year we would tow the caravan to Rooksbury Park (12+hrs we lived north of Aberdeen), twice a year we would throw a family BBQ at Rooksbury park, Gkids loved it, you can walk through the forest to use the outdoor facilities etc in the forest, plus the site was very convenient for them, we normally stayed 2 weeks and had the Gkids for sleep overs, for me this is what caravanning/camping is all about "family" , if it means they have to visit a site we might be on, so be it if possible

We are currently on a site in Dingwall, I did have misgivings about using a main site during the school holidays and I was right. I would have used a CL if I could have.
We have some of the younger generation on the two pitches next to us. Last night we and others in the vicinity were subjected to 3hours of football playing, chasing each other in and out of outfits and screaming at each other.
We have caravanned since our youngest was just 2 years old. Yes they played out but not ball games, no they were not allowed to chase in and out of units and most certainly they were not allowed to scream their heads off for no reason.
We taught our children to respect their elders, to not be a nuisance to others and yes they were on occasion told to be quiet.
If they didn't do as they were told they were not allowed to play out. Was I over strict with my children I think not, have they grown up mal adjusted no they have not. I now have 4 grandchildren, what a different world they are growing up in.
Do I think children nowadays rule the roost in many homes, yes I do. Are children valued members of society of course they are. However we as the parents have to remember that they are children and we the parents, they learn from us, it says a lot about the parents when you see children behaving badly and ruling the household.
I do not believe in smacking but neither do I believe in children of any age constantly getting their own way and spoiling things for others.
This thread has wandered of track a bit as they tend to do.
Have I changed my mind about visitors to sites, of course not, for the reasons I stated. I can't remember who said they thought campsites were a place for meeting up with friends and relatives.
To some degree I would agree, if they are also staying on site. I do not think a campsite is a venue to come on to 'visit' there are plenty of other suitable places to meet up.
Folk on a campsite are on holiday. Some like to spend their days out walking the hills, others go to a beach, some like to sit quietly reading a book. I don't ever recall hearing anyone say they go to a campsite to suffer listening to gatherings of folk having a party.

Nothing wrong with children, from my experience 99+ are well behaved, and better behave then some of those that are no longer children
Heard dog owners complain because children playing, and get their dogs barking ,and you have the Gollam syndrome child unfriendly type, i am on a club site ,and every centimetre of my pitch is mine, and all mine
Its a caravan site for God sake expect a bit more noise . the odd dog barking and children doing what children do etc6 -

Dont want to comment on the bulk of your post, but somewhere on this forum i stated that we leave our caravan on the hard standing at home during the months of July/August to let the younger generation have a go, and they do, and for sure, this year more than most they are going to let their "hair down", so from John O'groats to Landsend sites will be full of rowdies.
But i am a bit perplexed, many on here who say they have toured the Uk and the EU extensively must visit different areas/sites than us, have you folk never been on a Spanish site when during the day the whole family have arrived and started parties that go on into the wee hours, or the German contingent have invited the whole of Hamburg over for a street party?.
Perhaps many go to Bonterra Park

Yep, we stay home at busy times, too, especially school holidays. Let the rest of them let off steam and then we'll venture back out👍

This year it will probably be total gridlock so venturing out probably won't be an option. And visiting friends might struggle to get to some sites....
However we're going to have a couple of short breaks, it's possible to find quieter places...I think if anyone opts for larger or poular sites they'll be setting themselves up for failure with the boisterous holiday enjoying general public, desperate for a break and a good time. Book readers and "I want to be alone types" need to go elsewhere.
There's probably a law to this, like going to a quiet venue and finding a rock concert next door. So I'm not going to suggest anything to anyone!

Quite. It is possible but anyone venturing onto club or commercial sites needs to be prepared not to "be alone" this year. 😀

Thats is quite blunt but as I am not the only one on here who thinks the same why pick on some one who tells it as it is ,even if some will not admit it and say so, itis the way many are now in this country who will wring their hand and wait for others to do something

Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, Tinners mate -- I did some serious " letting off steam " last week-end and I'm seriously planning on doing some more " letting off steam " as soon as I possibly can
But you really should come and join us -- 6th --> 8th August at Whitby perhaps Next to Whitby Abbey, so not hard to find, clouds of smoke and steam permitting of course { Be Warned the Organisers use the cheapest filthiest coal they can find, in truth it should be burned

Under normal circumstances so do we but it was OHs 70th birthday yesterday.
As we cannot go on the cruise we had planned and don't wish to fly anywhere yet we decided to come away in the MH.
To be fair there is only 3 families on site, so not rammed just yet, as only Scottish children on school holidays.
Out of 3 sites booked at the last minute this is the only one not a CL.
