Visitors
Does anyone know if visitors will be allowed on club sites as from Monday, this has been the most inconvenient part of the restrictions for me up to now, so I hope they will. Just have to wait and see.

One of the main reasons for no visitors was the problem of knowing who was on site for track and trace, as many don’t bother to inform the site staff. Although most restrictions are being lifted, I don’t know if it means we won’t have to register attendance at the venue. I would have thought that would be the determining factor.

I hope if? anyone gets an answer from EGH about visitors on site from the 19th of this month they post it on here as site staff have NOt had any instructions ref next week. and they will need to do a lot more to sites and facilities than just take the no visitors signs down

It’s not just the restrictions on visitors that are expected to change.
In England, there will no longer be the need to limit the number of showers / washing up sinks etc open.
No need for enhanced cleaning, no need for mask wearing in the site office, no restrictions on the number of people allowed in the info room etc.Expect Wales and Scotland to announce their amended rules / advise soon.
Anything could happen!

Evening
There will be comms to the membership shortly, we had our brief today ready for next week. I think it will be satisfactory for the majority (probably not some ct posters!)

Not sure about a request John. The brief went to the network this morning, that would obviously include FM.

Surely, with additional parking extremely limited on sites the usual ‘all visitors must report to the office’ will once again become the norm as it has been for decades prior to this pandemic? If room is not available, particularly with sites as full as they are at present, then the answer must be no, am I correct?

The PM only confirmed this evening, from 5.00pm onwards, that restrictions are being eased so the Club will need a few hours to think about how those changes might impact on Club sites? As JK says we will be communicated to as soon as possible. Even if the rules remain the same regarding site visitors there is no reason why people can't meet up off site. My sister picked us up from a site on Saturday and took us out for a lovely meal and dropped us back at the site. No need to be on site?

I've never understood the need for visitors to come on site in the first place.
Personally I'm not keen on it, there are enough people on site as it is without visitors adding to it.
Coming to pick someone up is one thing but we've had it where a whole family arrived for the day. BBQ on the go for most of it, kids running around and even a dog with them.
Would it not have made more sense for the couple who's van they visited to go to the families house or if they lived in a flat go out somewhere.
Why should those on site who are on holiday and paid handsomely for the privilege, be subjected to their space and peace being invaded. Imagine if everyone or even half of the site did it.

Obviously, as with all things it can be subject to abuse. However, we have used it to meet up with a couple of people on multiple occasions and as far as I know not inconvenienced anyone. Folk who are all resident on site can be equally disruptive when they all congregate at one van for an evening BBQ. I’m hoping visitor privileges can be restored ASAP.

Yes it can be open to abuse and its not nice.
If we are going to meet up with friends (we have done often) we go off site.
Yes those on site can be disruptive when they gather in groups but at least they are member's and subjected to the rules.
Guess we will have to disagree, I see no justified reason for visitors to come on site for bbqs etc.
Commercial sites can and do charge a daily rate for visitors. Maybe CAMC should consider that, it could be another source of income.

We stayed on a commercial site that had a charge for visitors. OH had some old college friends to visit. We informed the reception. They said no need for any payment. I got the impression the charge was to prevent any excessively large groups.

I’ve had folk visit whilst on commercial sites without charges. I’ve always enquired first before arrival mind👍🏻

Many times gone past a site ,and gone to the reception and asked if its ok to have a look ,what wrong with that ?
Same when we have been in an area ,close to someone we know , why should they not be able to visit ?0 -
I completely understand the no visitors rule due to covid but, in normal times, see nothing wrong with having visitors on site. We've done it several times and it's a joy to be able to share site life with family and friends for a few hours. I wonder how many folk have taken up the hobby after visiting and enjoying the experience?
Members are responsible for their visitors' behaviour so any abuse of the site rules says more about the member than the visitor and can be dealt with.

Hi TG, I am guessing you have had a bad experience but we have often had visitors on site-in or around our van.
We often use the van to visit family and our youngest visitor was a Grandson at one day old, while staying at Alderstead, and the oldest my Mum whie at Burrs Park one Christmas.
We always check its OK, have had no problems relating to our visitors and see no reason, Covid requirements aside, to not allow them.
We will be using 4 cub sites over the next few weeks and, if allowed, will invite people to meet us on site as well as meeting off site.

When I meet up with people during our travels we are often over 3 hours drive from home and take advantage of our location to meet up. Usually we drive to meet up but if we meet OH's sister and brother in law they often come to the site and we either travel with them or follow as they know the area.

+1, smart move👍🏻

Before these on site camping cabins relatives used to stay in local, usually small B&Bs and would come round at various times to sit in our more 'spacious' accommodation.

What a peculiar turn this thread has taken
When we had a MH before the caravan we joined the Friendly Club as the CAMC didn't allow a drive away awning to be left on a pitch. Drive away awnings were a relatively new invention back then and we thought the CAMC was stuck in a time warp. We had visitors on their sites with no drama. After 9 years we swapped to a caravan and after visiting friends on a CAMC site and CL where they had pitched decided to join the CAMC with a caravan, no issues with not being allowed to leave the awning up, although we didn't need to drive away as we now had a caravan
We've had friends with a MH visit us on CAMC sites for meals and an evening catching up when they've been pitched on a neighbouring site. We've had friends fly into a nearby airfield to visit us on a CAMC site where we've had breakfast, popped into Countryfile Live and returned for an evening meal, then flown home. We have collected aged parents and brought them to site for a day, often on both CAMC and other sites.
All part and parcel of this caravanning lark.
Our MH owning friends don't like the regimented sites and rules of the CAMC despite appreciating facilities standards and that they could take advantages of non peak school holidays that we are tied to. Despite encouragement they won't join.
Not encountered any issues with having visitors on any site tbh. We are on holiday after all, no need to get flustered.
We plan to have rellies visit on our next trip first week of school holidays at Gowerton, on a couple of days.

I can see a few justified reasons.
I’ve been on a site where one paying pitch occupier then let several of their friends on who subsequently took up residence without payment or booking. They even circumnavigated the barrier system.
On another site, a grandmother held a sixtieth birthday party on site they spent all day setting the pitch up but hadn’t accounted for the number of cars turning up. They were not happy when the warden asked them to park in the village and walk into site.
As said previously, visitors need to be managed and it’s only correct to check possibility with the site staff. Unfortunately I’m sure there will be occasions when the answer will be no in order to ensure a happy stay for all is maintained!

Well it looks like I'm the only one who is not in favour of visitors to sites.
Yes we have had a few annoying occasions, one at Thirsk quite a few years ago when a van had around 10 people visit for the afternoon and evening, very noisy.
Another was on Anglesey when a couple came every morning and dropped off their 4 children for aged grandparents to look after. This was before 8am until after tea. The poor grandparents were run ragged trying to keep them occupied and behaving appropriately.
We have had it this year when rules were relaxed about folk being allowed to meet outdoors but not in, 2 of the vans of the CL we were on had visitors on both the days we were there.
We often on our travels arrange to meet friends and family but not on a campsite, if its family we go to their house, friends we sometimes do that or we arrange to meet up elsewhere.
Yes on occasion when out and about we see a campsite and fancy a look around. We always ask first of course, we are unlikely to disturb anyone just walking around having a look are we.
Its the multiple visitors for half the day and evening that I find unnecessary.

We are pleased to advise that day visitors will once again be welcome on our sites. In order to assist with the Government’s NHS Test and Trace programme, we still encourage all members and guests to scan the QR codes located across the site with the NHS Covid-19 app
