Cirencester Park Entry Charge
I have just heard that the management of the Bathurst Estate have decided to install electronic gates to three entry points and levy an entry charge to the public. The application has been granted apparently against the wishes of Lady Bathurst
I'm not sure how this will affect members staying at the Cirencester site. It did mention three gates of which two are at the town end of the park. Maybe it will.be possible to walk into town through the park and then walk back along the road.

A bit more information here https://www.wiltsglosstandard.co.uk/news/19308568.plans-charge-tourists-entry-cirencester-park/
I suppose it is possible that the Club could come to some arrangement with the Bathurst Estate? I had heard they were going to restrict vehicle access beyond the campsite because of the sport clubs car park was being used for general parking. It seems they are going to have a new access point with parking. I suppose in due course we will get to know.

Walking down Broad Avenue to the town is one of the delights of stopping at Cirencester club site. Walking down the access road, with its passing places and 'green eco verges', to the busy road is unpleasant by comparison. We noticed on a recent visit that a new car aprk had been created near the main road. Hope this scheme get knocked on the head!

David, I've had a look at the proposed entry points and can find two, which are both beside the town. I can't find the old kennels. Things may be ok if walking into town because effectively you ate within the park it the just remains to walk back alo g the road to the site. The new entrance to the cricket pitch may cause problems if it affects the footpath from the site into the park.

The old site access road has been taken over by Cirencester College. The access road from the A419 was being dug up and re-aligned when we visited recently. As you turn left for the caravan site, a large section of the park ( behind the low wall) has been turned into a car park. It doesn't yet show up on google maps or satellite

Windsor walk, which is mentioned as an entry, is the avenue that runs from part way up the hill on the main road back from town, across to the Broad ride by the tennis club. I believe some of the buildings by this entry, now stables, were the old kennels, also named as an entry. It may well be that the Windsor walk entry will be the one by the tennis club. Hopefully there will be a day pass and a charge won’t be levied both ways.
