Speeding Survey

That is just an assumption. I don't have the article. Does it actually mention vehicles? In the past I have seen people running faster than 8 mph, kids on bikes, scooters, trikes, skates, and adults on similar modes of transport also moving quickly. The worse speeding I have ever seen on any site was the local authority waste vehicle and staff on site vehicles.

Local authority?, did you complain, did you have a speed gun to prove it, do you have a sworn affidavit?🤔. We all write things we believe are true but when push comes to shove we can’t prove to the enth degree very much. I’m very happy to take HB’s OP as honest-it’s just a forum🤷🏻♂️

I assume that what you have seen is not on a club site as you're not a member and have stated that you haven't been on a club site in the recent past so what happens on other sites is a different matter. Also what is important is that the club is trying now to achieve greater safety which I assume all would be in favour?
As to club site rules the speed limit only applies to vehicles and bikes so people running and skating wouldn't be, I assume, be in the survey. Personally I would think it really applies to motor vehicles and maybe bikes.
Vehicles and cycles
For the safety and enjoyment of everyone
on site, please keep your speed down. The
speed limit on all sites is 5mph.0 -
Yes I agree that narrow twisty roads would certainly make driving faster than 5 mph difficult and I assume that is what you are saying, but on wider straighter roads it is all down the person whose foot in on the accelerator and not checking their speed and it is their responsibility to do so.
To claim the road encouraged me to speed, on a campsite where there are more pedestrians about and one should be more aware, as an excuse is just silly and irresponsible and I'm sure you can't be saying that?
Not you but I really can't understand why anyone would want to excuse going above the speed limit in any way? Surely the safety of all is paramount?

Do electric scooters fit under the "vehicles and cycles" description?
What I witnessed was on a commercial site with a sensible 10 mph limit. An unusual layout being a very large farm with a farmhouse and cottages at its centre, surrounded by a quite large campsite, mostly itself surrounded by a mainly pastoral farm with many free ranging animals. The "dust cart" was visiting the farmhouse and cottages. The site owner / farmer also note the apparent speeding, block the road with a tractor and gave the driver a well earned piece of his mind.

I would ask the club.
Who is to say 10mph is sensible? At 10 mph an alert drivers stopping in good conditions will need about 15 feet, at 5 mph it is about 6 feet. Personally I would have those extra 9 feet no matter what just in case. Not to mention the extra impulse given in any collision leading to possibly more injury. That to me is sensible.
But club sites are set at 5mph so if one thinks that is not sensible, or one doesn't want to support the club's stance and efforts and it's too much of a chore keeping to the limit, then one should go to a site where you think it is sensible?

+1, save lives & limbs not 9’ of time, health & safety. C&MC have it better👍🏻

Certainly, I actually used a few web sites and they all agreed on those figures, but before I do, why not give us your figures and your calculations or sources

...not to mention all the other lovely facilities.
Of course a few design features that would slow traffic, if it is needed, would be chicanes and pinch points and other commonly used traffic calming measure. Tastefully done they could even remove the general regimented carpark look of the traditional CAMC site.

Accusations of trolling and bullying, or saying my posts/questions are veiled (how?) is not being rude BB?
I'm sure others can speak for themselves. Now I'm going back and will stick OT as I'm not sure what you're after and safety on sites in more important.

I think it was Steve L who mentioned earlier in the thread that it is road surface rather than site layout which is the major factor in speed on sites. Certainly during our many stays on both club sites I would say that speeding was more common on the tarmac roads on CAMC sites, than on the grittier roads on C&CC sites.
But, here's an interesting fact - we have just spent a week in a cottage in Braithwaite in the lakes. The C&CC bought what was previously Scotgate caravan site last year and have clearly spent a considerable amount of money on refurbishing it. And the result is something which models the much criticised (by some on here) club layout of tarmac one way roads. Since this also seems to be the model used by other recent sites (Morris Leisure, Love2Stay etc) one can only assume that the professional advisors see this as the way forward in offering what most users require.

I Deleted User my previous post as replied to the wrong one. I meant to say that, as a vaccinator, I have also observed young men fearing the needle more than young women. I have been told that a body full of tattoos makes no difference to the fear factor as it’s not the same.

Well in "normal" years your trips don't involve UK Sites though and haven't for some years. And, even with all that experience, the only end user you can confidently speak on behalf of is yourself, surely?
So maybe the plans are based on the requirements of the "end users" who actually .... er....use them! Why else do you suggest that the C&CC would have invested such a huge amount of investment in the way they have?

Right now it’s a small World🤷🏻♂️

I’m struggling with this C-veiled(not direct or clearly expressed) surely a question needs to be totally unambiguous or How would you know it’s a question🤷🏻♂️

I’d love that to be true but to be perfectly honest-pretending to be flying to Mallorca for a break & actually doing it isn’t the same🤷🏻♂️☹️
