Speeding Survey

If the survey is to be believed 50% of members are not worried about exceeding the posted speed limit on site. If any of other 50% are really concerned about that they have the choice of not using CAMC sites .
Have fun. I'm off to assist with the "Grab a Jab" programme . Tell me why is it that in general young women are far braver when faced with a needle than young men (I'm told other genders are available ) .

Perhaps speeders on site should do the same.

Evening
So, my site has one of those perceived "race track " layouts. Really don't have many speeders here but in the last two weeks I've had occasion to speak to three drivers who I thought were driving irresponsibly. Coincidentally they were all motorhomes going out/ returning for the day. Usually a friendly word brings awareness with no repetitions.
On some of our sites on arrival you walk round to select a pitch, on others you drive. I don't get the comparison with sites in Europe that have lots of land to park on arrival so you're able to stroll around at leisure. Most UK sites don't have that luxury at all. I've used the site shown by BB and have experienced queues out on the main road with the resulting visit from the authorities. So nowhere is perfect here or " there"

BB, if there is a queue when you arrive try arriving later, I did & never once had to queue. It’s a simple timing thing👍🏻

Try this-you read on here of folk rocking up hours before the official time. . .Not then. You read on here of folk rocking up just after opening time. . .Not then. So then you rock up a few hours after opening time. . .It’s then👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻. It’s simple maths, ask C or M for advice, you’ll get there👍🏻, good luck🙂

So getting back to speeding on site, was the unfortunate death of the 20 month old put down to speeding by the driver, lack of attention by said person or lack of parental control?
This does bring into focus, sadly, the question as to how many accidents are there in twelve months, on club sites, that need the attendance of medical professionals?
Perhaps our club could let us know so that all might be put into perspective .

You can look up details of the tragedy yourself, RF.
I don't see it's relevant to know the number of accidents on club sites. It's not an issue of perspective. If it's one accident, it's one too many. The speed limit is there to keep us all safe.

Same old same people who think the rules apply to someone else . Because they deem they can judge whats a safe speed the 5 mph limit can do one . Clubs gone down the nick .

It wasn't meant to be funny but was intended to point out the silliness of your responses to a question you asked.
To return to the OP, the survey was only of 600 vehicles which doesn't seem a very large figure considering the number of vehicles that must use site roads across the network. Is there a case for further monitoring or should we leave things as they are?

Maybe be you should have been more specific,as I’m not the cleverest dog in the kennel
on your second paragraph, leave things as they are , or may some members who are that worried could spend their holiday standing on the site roads giving out advice to those that transgress

Regarding the recent incident in Cornwall. As far as I can establish the inquest has yet to be held. The coroner has yet to determine cause of death and the culpability, if any, of the parties involved.
If it is deemed to be the fault of the driver no doubt he or she will face prosecution and if found guilty will be punished appropriately.
Equally, if the person or persons responsible for the safety of the child failed in their duty hopefully they will be prosecuted and if found guilty will be punished appropriately.

I wish there was more information about which 20 sites were used and over what time period and dates, and how it was all done, and like HB said what happened to those who were speeding. Personally those travelling at over 25 mph, which I consider to be criminal on a campsite, should have been at least spoken to or given a warning.
I personally think there should be further monitoring for two reasons. One to see if the results are replicated again, and secondly if people know they might be monitored in my experience it usually affects behaviour.
And in any case the club does say it will continue with this in the future.

It will also depend on what site you pick and what day. At Clumber park on a Friday, when the weekenders are arriving, I would guesstimate the transgressors to be well over 50%. Where as at Balbirnie Park in Fife, the site layout, mixture of gravel and tarmac, plus use of some roads in both directions, makes 5mph seem a bit fast.

I agree, Corners. It would have been a lot to ask of staff to carry out monitoring last year and this in view of the extra workload covid demanded but I hope it can resume in the near future.

It actually says 600 people. I assume they were in control of a motor vehicle at the time

I wouldn't say so, 600 vehicles have to be driven by 600 people.
