Caravans and motorhomes with offside door
Is it just me or anyone else find it unwelcoming when you have reversed onto site and then someone with an offside door also reversed on, you are now door to door with no privacy, so the grass in front becomes shared. Do you feel that the club should make it a rule that all nearside door vehicles reverse and offside door vehicles front on. Currently have people and others from site sitting in front of my awning.

No I don’t. Pitching is allowed either way. Would you condemn those with rear lounges to be back against a dark hedge?

We had a Hobby for seven years and can only recall one site where we went 'nose in' and that was so we could enjoy the view of our fellow campers.
Camping is, for us, a sociable pastime and our preferred pitching is across the pitch so we have the widest view possible and can interact with others.
As euror says you could turn your van but, so long as the 'people' are on the pitch, its probably best to grin and bear it.

No! the existing rule is just fine. Don’t visit Abbey Wood, once we get back to normal, if it bothers you. Lots of continental caravans without power movers. Our MH is a Hymer and has its door on the offside. We tend to put it onto the pitch to suit the slope and avoid ramps. Currently we are nose in. However, opposite there is a UK spec’d van also nose in, so our doors face each other. Doesn’t bother us at all, we have had a few pleasant chats. This site is C&CC but has the same very reasonable rule that you can go front or rear in.

Do I find it unwelcoming? Well not at all if it happened to me, and it has in the past.
No privacy? I don't understand that at all? What privacy can you expect on a caravan site outside your caravan/MH? It is a campsite after all.
So there are people sitting opposite your awning, so what? I would imagine they are just getting along with their business and not really interested in yours. There will still be a minimum of 3m meters between you and any part of your neighbour's outfit.
Also not every caravan has a motor mover so how would a caravan be got onto a pitch nose in? Pushed? Some are quite heavy.
So for me personally I feel the club shouldn't change its current rules on which way you pitch.

In hot weather I often pitch my caravan to face North and avoid the sun heating up the caravan as there are no windows at the rear. If the weather is really hot we would probably return to site by 3pm and I would sit on the shady side - not the door side.

The grass is shared by EVERYONE on the site, not just the adjoining campers.
I recall back in the 1970s looking after a caravan for the local Car Club which had a door on each side. Ideal for their use as an office at events and would be even more practical in the Covid Years with a seperate "In" and "Out". Never needed a mover with lots of burly motor sport competitors around.

I can remember only two - ever.
One had a plane ( well a collection of components flying in loose formation as we used to say) and one had a Lambretta.

I remember that many sites as you say no pegs pitch as you like. ,and on coastal sites was very obvious , as it seemed the way of pitching was leave maybe enough space between the tow bar of one van and rear of next to just be able to squeeze through

Where we are the grassed area behind our hardstand does not now have many pitched(fire break regs)and there are about 50/50 large motor caravans, dwarfing the caravans, on m/c a twin axle with self levelling jacks (off side habitation door
)has got their canopy out with windbreak round it and behind the MC is a gazebo on the grass also with wind break for dogs (two)and "private sunbathing area"

We're in Dorset at Golden Cap. When we booked in, with a 'continental Mh', we were instructed to park nose in to the left of the pitch. The staff came to check we were sited ok, and everyone appears to be happy with no conflicts as reported by the OP.
The sun has been shining out of the blue sky over the blue sea, so apart from euro football tv noise all is just 🙂

Glad you are happy but I can’t recall a campsite in 50 years where I was “instructed” to do anything.

Oh my that brings back memories. Remember the miserable bloke on his bike telling us every day for a week to move our van 12" to the left. No way was we going to move. There was no one pitched either side of us all week. But every morning he banged on the window and told us to move. That also where we needed 48 feet of waste water pipe to dispose of grey water on a fully serviced pitch!

I find ‘unwelcoming’ that some people get so fixated on ‘privacy’ in a public space. What next? A demand for pitches surrounded by 8’ fences with a locking gate?

If as it seems most people need? is EHU to their pitch the least expensive and more easily traced when problems arise, sites that may to some look a bit regimented ,will have the EHU/lighting cables put in to enable easier tracing. If the supply goes down ,so the pitches supply is no more than the 25mtr umbilical lead away

Ha - you got a pitch! Well done! But seriously like Easy T I'm more concerned about the view and north south orientation to try and get the awning in the sun. Still optimistic for a trip to the Dordogne in September and the chance to socialise with our European cousins. Happy caravanning!
