a typical thetford 250 cassette has a capacity of 17.5ltr...
assuming a bit of 'spare' when emptied after three days, that might be, say, 13/14 ltrs...
now bring that back up to the five days of the other water containers and youre not far from the 'missing' 17ltr assuming a bit s is absorbed by the body and not all becoming waste.

We once saw, on a Club site, a set up with a huge black tank/cistern beside the van, instead of an Aquaroll. Must have been the capacity of at least 3 Aquarolls. This was filled from a nearby tap with a long hose......took a while to fill!.
Good idea if staying a while I suppose, but rather bulky to transport.
Only one Wastemaster though.

Well what a huge response, didn't realise it was such an emotive subject, so again thanks to all, especially the more kind answers, but I shall now bring my question to a close. I have now decided on my own course of action, quite simple really as it will solve my query, not going to say what, but it does not involve another 'roll. Thanks again, enjoy all your hols.

So, yes, an aquaroll will last him 5 days. (The 5 litre container was for longer stays.) Not sure quite how myself, I used to refill ours each evening, only 2 of us and we'd still get through best part of one a day!

so, if it needs filling 'at least twice a day' im guessing youre using 80-100 ltrs a day? would that be right? ...and that you'd need to empty the wastemaster 2 to 3 times a day? thats a mighty amount of water moving in and out.
it just shows how folk use water differently.
we certainly dont feel we ration water at all yet use around 22 ltr a day, even when we both shower in the van...this means we can live in the van for 5-6 days without requiring any water.
when using site showers, which saves us water, our usage is around 10-12 ltrs a day, incl washing up, tea/coffee, loo flushing, teeth cleaning, hand/face washing etc...
as i said, its interesting how one user can use 4 to 5 times as much as another doing, basically, the same things.
perhaps, when folk are on serviced pitches (and input/output water supplies require no attention) taps might get left running for longer...?
either way, it makes no difference, just a stark contrast.

I used to buy spring water in as big a container as I could find & sit it near the kettle, the hog water was for showers & dishes so it lasted a fair while. Not being in most of the day helped too👍🏻

These 5ltr (or such) supermarket water bottles are really handy. I refill them with tap water for kettle etc and bypass the Aquaroll and pipes for purity. Eventually the handle gives out and they get relegated to refilling the toilet rinse.
Don't feel so bad about single use plastic that way. Also useful to carry some water in the tow car in case of hold-ups on the journey.

it's well documented that EasyT can survive on a thimble full of water of a week .... 🙄
We get through the best part of an Aquaroll of water a day .... 2 showers a day and general cooking & hands washing etc. I fill the (60l?) on board tank as & when and then re-fill the Aquaroll again so it can be on stand-by, if the onboard tank empties, it'll auto change over to the Aquaroll.

Why? On all of the sites where I have used one, the owners have never passed any comment - indeed on one of the sites, the owner has now fitted two-way splitters to all of his taps.
As for our water usage - which probably is a bit high compared to some others, that's probably why I like being on serviced pitches!

on the subject of Serviced Pitches, for any MHer with decent sized tanks (who doesnt use copious amounts of water by using site facilities) having a serviced pitch gives no advantage if staying inside their 'capacity/range'.
just fill on entry, empty on exit. no need for £4.40(!) a day when the water is already on board. we last 10-12 days so that would add £44-£50 to 'Club' prices.
however, i do want to try this lovely looking MHSP later before we leave.
its just past 8 and we've already had the first 'trundle' past our bed....😴

R&R does your usage include showering in the van (Covid) or are you using site showers?

For Richard and Ros ref Splitters.
From what I recall of the English water regulations they are very touchy about the possibility of water passing back from one "habitation" into the supply and from there into a different "habitation". Hence all the faff about non-return valves and bib-cocks.
With the amount of concern that is shown about having to clean out water pipes in caravans they would seem to be a prime case for contamination to pass into the supply. Remember your high school physics and the venturi effect.
No problem with a splitter when one side goes to a caravan hose and the other to the same caravan's kettle.

BB - that's a definite yes and not just because of Covid. We are lucky in that the van has a very large bathroom and lovely shower - as good as the ones at home and Ros much prefers to use the van's facilities anyway. Plus, I quite often have two showers a day and the loo takes its water from the inboard tank - so you can see how it all adds up.

We only carry the small aqua roll which I think is 22/23 ltrs.
Even when we shower in the caravan we can both shower out of the one barrel. OH just checks its full first, if not he tops it up with a watering can.
Then once we have both showered he empties the waste and fills up the fresh barrel. If we aren't showering in the van or doing dishes we can go at least 3 if not 4 days on a small barrel.
It's not a competition as to who uses the most/least its just what suits you as to how you spend your time and preferences.
When we had a coach built MH it had 100 ltr tank it could last us 5 days easy and that's with showers.
We now have a PVC which has 70ltr tank, I don't know how long it will last us, as so far we've not been on a site longer than 3 days, so its been topped up and waste emptied when we move sites.
