Hello, any advice on using two of the above, I have been spoiled in the past with fully serviced pitches, but an impending visit to the Hawes site leaves me with collecting water, over and over.

We have used two before we found SP, and/or rather found that more sites had them. There are various connections that allow you to 'use' two at once, ie both emptying at the same time and giving double the 'range' but we just had two that we filled each morning and just swapped over the pump at night. This was when we had all the kids with us and they used a lot of water and we liked a set routine of filling up/emptying after breakfast once a day. Emptying wasn't so 'critical' and one of the kids would do it when needed at night. Now there is only the two of us on the very rare occasions we don't get a SP (perhaps travelling on route) one will last for 24 hours.

I suppose it's all about what fits in best with your circumstances?

We use two all the time. Fill them both up when we arrive, use first, swap pump over to second for use as refill the first. Only a problem if I forget to swap the pump over before OH has her morning shower.  Simples.laughing

I always found emptying to be far easier than filling, just close the caps haul ways, open caps, pull up and it emptied quickly, even quicker if one undid the cap near the handle. The kids could do it without too much mess. Filling was slower due to the speed/pressure of the water out of the tap and more of a faff all round.

I've never seen the point in having two aquarolls. It takes exactly the same amount of times to fill two as it does to fill one twice. It is extremely rare for me to need to refill our single aquaroll when OH is needing to use water, we just time everything. Usually it is straight after we've washed the pots in a evening. Unless we are both having showers, one fill lasts all day and I can't say we are particularly careful about how much we use. Same with getting rid of waste water. It takes exactly the same time. Both aquarolls and wastemasters are bulky items, one of each is enough for me to find space for whilst we are travelling, (they fit snugly in the shower and being a total of 11kg don't upset the balance of the caravan).

Helpful advice JV👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Some folk just can’t stop themselves from taking a swipe when a call for help needs answering. 1t-I’ve seen 2 aquarolls beside each other with a professional join & hose atwixt the 2 enabling them both to be drained simultaneously. JV’s idea is a corker mind sometimes the easiest answers are the best👍🏻

Did that at Baltic Wharf once, our pitch was in range of the service point. Didn’t move the aquaroll all week, just left the hose coiled under the van, ready to connect when the tap became free. Unfortunately it was a bit far for the waste, otherwise it would have almost been a service pitch.😉

I've always used two aquarolls but i dont connect them together. Before taking a shower I always check the level of the aquaroll in use and if its low i change it over to the spare full one so no chance of it running out. If it runs out when washing dishes etc, its quick to swap over to the full one. The empty aquaroll can then be refilled at a more convenient time.

I always, but always add a drop of Zoflora or similar to the empty  waste container whether it is a w/master or built-in. As they say prevention is better than cure winkinnocent

Thank you for all the sensible and helpful answers.
I suppose I should have asked who else uses two aqua rolls. Its not the time it takes to fill two 'rolls I was asking about, and believe it or not I figured out that it took twice as long as one!
My main point was that fill the 'roll to top, 40L, fill the water heater, = 10L, leaving 30L, top up the roll from a 10L container and so back to a full 'roll, perfect.
Start using the water and keep guessing how much is left? and taking a part filled 'roll back to the tap? or run out of water and switch over to a second one, then take the empty one back to the tap. I know I have part answered my own question, and to me it is the most logical solution, because we have always used our own facilities, but I just wondered who else did the same,

Two connected Aquarolls here as like to wash dishes or ourselves without having to go outside to see if the great god of water supply will allow it. And another 40 litres in the onboard tank in case of an emergency.

Once set up, only fill one Aquaroll, with the other continuing to be the supply so I can be replenishing water while dishwashing is underway. And two wastemasters for similar reasons, one serving the galley and the other the washroom.

1 x Aquaroll = 40 ltrs. "2 x Aquarolls = 80 ltrs. ! x Wastemaster = 40 ltrs. Where does the excess water go? Onto the pitch if you are not very vigilant !

After over 30 years of caravanning, experience alone lets me know when the Aquaroll is likely to need a refill and the Wastemaster emptied. I don't need to keep checking.

A Wastemaster is actually 38 litres as opposed to the 40 in the Aquaroll.   The other 2 litres goes into the toilet via the tea/coffee pots.

I think you have made your own case, 1trout🙂.

We never used more than one in our caravanning days and now, with the MH, just rely on our tank but you've outlined a good case for having two so I say go for it. If it makes for a more relaxing holiday for you, it's surely the way to go👍.

Using an extra aquaroll would normally be a waste of time for us. Except for Christmas an aquaroll will easily last our normal 5 night stop. Christmas has usually been 15 nights and I have a 5 litre container for topping up when I get rid of rubbish etc. Also the reason why I don't use a serviced pitch as it makes a single fill and empty for my 5 nights about £22 - seems a lot to fill a single aquaroll and to empty a single waste. The same reason why when water and waste are on pitch  never faff with connecting up

Thanks for posting back it doesn't always happensmile

As I said, whatever is best for you is the best solution so go with that.

Also what was the main advantage for us, and you've mentioned it, is not having to guess or worry about when the water might run out. Additionally having done the 'chores' after breakfast we were then free to enjoy the rest of the day, and now like you using service pitches even those chores have gone too! For me personally the less work I have to do on holiday the better.

Post edit, actually doing two at once can save about 25% of the time.

We only ever have had I fresh water container, and since our trip to the dark side, now seen the light .again have carried two 6ltr watering cans, that are used to top up the fresh water when taking rubbish to bins ,

For me filling and emptying is a daily routine the lasts probably less than 10 minutes. I take the Aquaroll and Wastemaster to the designated points together, nothing could be simpler and hardly a chore.

I thought the whole point of filling the water container, there are other than Aquaroll available (we have a Water Hog that is larger capacity) and emptying the waste container was to have an opportunity to engage in discourse with other campers, and to get out of the OH's way for a while. wink

Also the dawn chorus of plastic wheel on gravel/tarmac to wake your fellow campers is de rigueur tongue-out

We have an on board water tank so monitor that via the internal gauge and fill the hog as required, when not on a serviced pitch. Or a pitch with a tap nearby where a splitter can be used to give permanent supply to us and allow others to fill their containers.

On a CL we often discharge grey water to hedges or ditches using the pipework carried.

Serviced pitches are the way to go.

As we use water to drink in various forms, cook with, there will be less waste than fresh water.

We do the same.  All our water comes via the inboard tank - filled automatically from the aquaroll via a float switch in the i/b tank. Since we use CLs and CS's quite a lot, I always carry a 4-way splitter tap to allow us to plumb in and others to do so if they are so-equipped.

I find the aquaroll needs filling at least twice a day if we're not plumbed in, and how anyone can make one last 5 days, I just don't know!

Hardly a nuisance, though - just part of being away in the vansmile

Surely the water use regulations do not permit the use of these splitters to supply more than one habitation unit?  I know they sometimes appear on serviced sites where there is a problem with one of the taps, but that does not make the use of them legal.

I had thought of something along those lines by puting a suitable tank into the back of the Land Rover and filling it up when returning to site. It is usually parked at the "back" of the caravan beside the water equipment anyway.

Aquaroll 40 litre and lasts 5 days, waste 23 litre and lasts the same amount of time.

Where does the 17 litres of water go? no, not on the grass.

We drink it out of the tap (and still here to talk about it), coffee, tea or to dilute a flavoured drink, it means though that the toilet cassette only lasts 3 days laughing
