We want to book for the end of August from Plymouth to Santander to return end of September.Crossings are available but even with a flexi ticket we could lose all the money if the GB rules still require 10 days expensive quarantine and we cancel. Thoughts and advice very much needed please. Rog and Sue.

Wait....See how things are in three months time...And if it turns out the ferries are full then fly to Spain and rent a car and a room when you arrive.Good luck.

Although you wouldn’t get your money back you could move the booking to 2022 on a fully flexi, so effectively wouldn’t loose anything. We currently have a booking for September to St Malo, with the remainder of the payment due in July. As it stands with this escalating Indian variant our problem would be entering France, if their quarantine is still in place. Wouldn’t be so bothered about quarantine at home on return. We will probably give it another month before we decide to risk it, or move it to June 22 and book something here.

Rog/Sue, do not worry, you should not loose out. I had an Economy crossing booked for 2020. This got postponed and a credit note issued. I was told this had to be used within 12 months and booked for late August 2021. I've since found out the time limit has been increased to 24 months so contacted Brittany Ferries as other 1/2 does not want to travel. The crossing has now been moved to 2022 at no cost.

shouldnt worry too much about booking anything, at this rate we will all be locked up again laughing

"A new mutant strain of the coronavirus has been identified in the UK as cases of the Indian variant continue to rise.

More than 100 cases of the new strain have been identified across the country.

Known as VUI-21MAY-02 (C.36.3), the variant was first detected in Thailand in people who had travelled from Egypt, Public Health England confirmed."

I treat ferries from Plymouth to Roscoff like trains from Plymouth to London - book and pay four or five days before travelling.

Its just the flying bit that is still a bit daunting. Daughter has a holiday cottage near Loja so a visit to this is looking best option for the Autumn break, just starting to cool down so able to top up with some sun before the winter cuts in. We have BF flexi tickets for France but not even considering taking the van over before next April.
