I also can’t see a major issue. Although the facilities are open, no one is forced to use them. It is unrealistic to expect them to be closed for ever, we are going to have to start getting back to some sort of normality. Personally although we pop in to use the toilets we avoid the showers (which are open in Scotland) and use our own. As Boris said the other day we have to be sensible as we move out of lockdown. However, move out we must, otherwise millions will end up out of work and the Economy will be trashed.

"I dont think day long outrage about everyone else would add to any pleasure we might get from it and will carry on as we have for the last year being sensible but keeping a sense of proportion about it."
Very well put.
Unlike a comment above I do "give a fig" but that does not extend to following every demand to follow what someone else perceives as 'being sensible'.
We have used the van twice in the last 18 months both times at sites with toilet blocks open, with enhanced cleaning, including a 1 hour shut down for misting to take place, but not a band or other restriction in effect-no shut off toilets, sinks or showers.
At both people behaved, in general, as I would expect, they respected other peoples 'space' and simply distanced themselves.
We must all decide what is safe for us and ours and whilst there will be a vast range of responses I do wonder when some will feel its safe to get back to 'normal' and can only sympathise with anyone who, after all this time, is still feeling outraged.

Extugger wrote "The Indian strain will probably put us back in another lockdown anyway."
Yet again, lessons have 'not' been learned as we allowed unrestricted access to the UK notwithstanding the problems evident. I could end up with a "Go to Jail, move directly to Jail" halfway through my Scottish tour if this variant really takes off.

It seems there are now several Hotspots of the Indian variant in England
Andy Burnham has been on TV this morning and stated that infections have now doubled in the last week in his area of the north west,
Which seems is following what the Kent variant did

Compass has reported witnessing stupidity on site regarding people's actions, particularly concerning use of the facility block.
Why that should have brought forth some of the comments it has, I'm not sure. Rather than castigate him/her, I'm glad to learn of the reality even if it proves to be only on that one site.
Thanks, Compass.

The opening of sites in April when first envisaged did show some quite full sites , until realisations that there would be zero facilties which seems "encouraged a flurry of cancellations , which then reversed again when toilet were able to open

But then to get a life back, and as yet ,it is still in the hopeful area? basic virus protection is still needed, and as posted earlier in this thread, on both sites we have and are using ,some seem to think that as they have probably had both of their jabs they are protected ,,with no thoughts of others

Good on you, David. Bring on 'normality'.
To suggest Compass' post was a rant implies it was making more than was warranted of the situation. We cannot know that so I'm happy to accept his word on the matter.

It’s the very people not adhering to common sense rules that are beginning to knock us back to restrictions from weeks/months ago. The few(as in spreading the Indian variant) are quickly spoiling it for the many☹️. Compass has it right👍🏻

Compass isn't alone either as I see someone else has written in Stories about similar lax behaviour at the Forfar site.

Lets face it it would have been safer if the facilitiy blocks had been kept closed even if folk had kept to the rules which is why us and others prefered to use our own. Opening them relied heavilly on a efficient cleaning regime and policing, the latter almost impossible.

I suppose it would be safer if we stayed in lockdown. However, that’s just not possible, it’s necessary for a lot of reasons to start a move back to normality. It does rely on people being sensible and following what rules there are, but unfortunately there are those who will always abuse protocols. The further unlocking of this Monday will produce further ways to abuse the system, as folk are free to mix indoors within strict limits, which are likely to be ignored by some. Hopefully the vaccine combined with perhaps local controls can get on top of this Indian variant. Another lockdown would be catastrophic for many businesses that have just hung on, particularly as we are approaching peak time for the leisure industry.

Are some of you worrying just a tiny bit about caravan site toilets being open? The local supermarket has toilets open, so does the garden centre, some of the public toilets in town are open too, as are the ones at the big hospital in Plymouth. And none of them have rubber bands on hooks at the door.

There you go campers it's official you can fill yer boots using your chosen site's facilities to the maximum, but the club still expects a certain amount of personal responsibility from all the membership for their own safety & wellbeing & of others that follow on from you , from what I've seen lately at the Carsington waters site I won't be holding my breath that it's that simple for some.
The vaccine for selfishness & stupidity may well be need for the future.
Rant over.....Darling boy 😉😁😘
England - Club campsites in England all reopened on 12 April with toilets and shared washing and cleaning facilities (excluding showers) open at Club campsites which have them. Following the latest UK Government announcement, we’re delighted to be able to reopen showers from Monday 17 May as well. All facilities are operating in line with government guidelines and at reduced capacity.
Scotland - Club campsites in Scotland all reopened on 26 April with all toilets and shared washing and cleaning facilities (including showers) available at Club campsites which have them. All facilities are operating in line with government guidelines and at reduced capacity.
Wales - Club campsites in Wales all reopened on 29 March. Due to the government restrictions, shared facilities had to remain closed but fresh and waste water was available. Following the latest Welsh Administration announcement, from Monday 17 May we’re delighted to be able to reopen all toilets and shared washing and cleaning facilities (including showers) at Club campsites which have them (operating in line with government guidelines and at reduced capacity).
The use of shared facilities
Our covid secure protocols mean we can operate our shared facilities with carefully managed social distancing measures in place to minimise household mixing. However, we would still strongly recommend the use of your own facilities wherever possible, if you are able to do so, as this will greatly reduce the risk of transmission. We would like to thank you for your understanding and patience in supporting the delivery of our Covid Secure Commitment.0 -
Think all of the idiots are on Durham Grange this week. Bands not hung up on entry then if they are, bands not taken down on exit. Both male and female to blame.
Could all members read instructions as it benefits the safety of all members.Stay safe everyone.

Sorry forgot to mention the members who pick up a band and take it in with them and those that do the procedure in reverse and on entry take down a hanging band and on exit hang it back on a peg.

There has been a great increase in first time caravan/motor home owners this year, I wonder how many of those flouting the covid19 rules are new members?
We are actually staying in a static caravan this week and it had been spotlessly cleaned prior to our arrival but obviously when you go out for the day at some point you need to use public toilets where you do sometimes see the same type of selfish people.
Life still goes on; just make sure you stay as safe as you can.

If my memory serves me correctly, last year, different sites adopted slightly different systems with regard to the bands. I know one site issued everyone with a band and they had to place the band on the hook when you went in to the toilet block, retrieved your band on the way out. Everyone was expected to hand in bands with the barrier 'key' at the end of their stay. It could be that because of different systems last year, some are confused.
I understand that the Club have standardised the system across all sites this year. Perhaps it will take time for everyone to learn the system. Hopefully everyone will have learnt by the time we visit Durham Grange, sometime in June... 😃

That's the joy of a self-contained MH. All our own facilities go with us from kitchen to washroom.

yes i agree we have all got to follow the guide lines but you dont need comments like compass 362 as made about closing sites down when all members are desperate for holidays,if your that worried what other people are doing stop at home and spend another six months looking through your window anyway most members in the club will possibly be fully vaccinated.

Complicated ..think I might get it wrong.
Is it better to take one’s own rubber band in order to gain admission to a toilet when none are available at the door? And a few spares perhaps to assist fellow members in distress?

From our limited use of the facilities the main issue seems to be folk leaving bands on the hooks when they leave. Several of the sites we stayed on were small with petite blocks and first thing in the morning it was clear I was the only one in, however several bands were on. I removed them and returned all to the pot on exit.

If you read the NHS website, being fully vaccinated does not stop you from contracting Coronavirus or spreading it. We still need to follow the guidelines.

If anything knocks us back into restrictions or another lockdown it’ll be folk thinking it’s all over & we can go back where 2019 left off🤷🏻♂️🙁

It is not contracting the virus ,even when vaccinated ,it is it is IMHO to reduce the severe cases we have had that so very nearly overwhelmed the NHS ,not ,even now it seems helped by those still in denial,,or as has also recently happened not closing our borders
