What’s the point of the Club if sites are full?

I'm sure you encountered numerous similar squabbles when you did playground duty, Corners.

Going back to the question "what's the point of the club...?" (and speaking as an outsider now) I am sometimes surprised that folk think the club should act in their individual interests when they are reluctant to help out fellow members themselves.
How often on CT do members complain about either the standard or price of club sites, claim they've found much better, much cheaper alternatives but seem unwilling to name those sites or add them to the "small private sites" thread.
To paraphrase a former US president "ask not what the club can do for you, ask what you can do for the club"!

Good point, M. 👍
People often complain that CAMC is a business and no longer a club but they treat it as a business with the 'customer is king attitude' rather than being willing to share or give. We can't have it both ways.

I would just like it known that we prefer midweeks, do indeed have a dog, but are a long way off getting our State Pension yet😁
As for the Club using forum comments to guide policy......🤔
More no facility sites....
More no facility sites....
More no facility sites....
Dream on....................😉

Yes TDA. There are numerous issues discussed on here at great length that have not resulted in changes, number of dogs, paying for dogs, turning car parks into MH pitches, more SP, less SP, toilet cleaning times... and of course don't forget flags and fairy lights.

When the majority of members come round to that way of looking for club sites, then there might be a case ,even more CLs are upgrading to mini club sites with toilets/showers. above the EHU that the majority think is essential for them, and even Hardstands that it seems are now essential for motor caravan owners

Notwithstanding Rowena's reassurances, I am not in the least convinced that views are valued and certainly not acted upon. Anyone remember the "wish list" for the revised forum some years back. How many of those recommendations were acted upon.As Margot said " I rest my case, Gerry"

Not really a surprise that, was it. But well tried CY.

I am used to paying for "all singing ...." sites. Its fine for the odd night but we wouldnt run after that way of doing things for a holiday base
AD, It is not often I disagree with your views but in this particular case we are polar opposites. Whilst I do enjoy "all singing sites abroad" the main reason as it is off peak there is still plenty of space combined with the basic facilities you would expect on a CAMC site as well as swimming pool, bar etc. In neither place would you find space in the peak period and I have no reason to exchange the peace and quiet and views of a 5 van site for the expensive alternative of incessant noise generated by campers, bin emptying, grass cutting, animals and wall to wall views of white boxes.

The point I was trying to make was I appreciate peace and quiet and in the UK you will not find that on a Club site at peak periods. I much prefer the alternative of a 5 van site, possibly without basic facilities ( which I don't use anyway) at a fraction of the cost and where I can guarantee to be able to fully open all the car doors at the same time.

Nice to see yet another interesting discussion resorts to petty bickering.

Sometimes post are also Deleted User as they are replies to a Deleted User (first posted) post that breached guidelines. As this first post is removed so the ones replying to it, which often do not breach guidelines, are also removed. A sort of collateral damage. You have to look at the first post that went.
