Checking In
Rowena’s post in latest government information details the need to check in using the covid app or by filling in a log sheet. Pubs are being asked to check customers phones to establish this has been done correctly, or get a manual form from the individual. Presumably that will mean both of us going into reception (last year they asked for just one) rather than zap the one on the window? Although perhaps we are considered more responsible than pub goers and of course they have all the details anyway.🤔 Just thinking out loud.😂

One person could take all the visiting groups phones i the reception to scan the code.

Wont be doing any of this, took the decision not to scramble for a site/pitch on the 12th April for us it will be the 4th May on a commercial site where we have effectively checked in already, so we know we will just be able to amble on choose a pitch and chill, a nice warden will pass by on his 4x4 take our details, relay to reception and as the facilities will not be open, children will be back at school, the site will be relatively quiet, all we will need will be some sunshine and we could be in Spain

Last year site reception had the QR code in the window of reception so no need to go in. I assume they will be doing the same this year? If you need to fill out a form surely that will be handed to you when you arrive and can be completed and popped through the letterbox?

It looks like this is on arrival and maybe the QR code will be printed on the pack handed to you? It isn't quite clear in the announcement.
I had to show my QR code had worked at a take away venue last week. I've not had to do this before. Maybe this is a new rule for certain premises?
I have to admit I forget to do the QR sometimes.

I assume the track and trace would be used if a new or rare variant was detected in someone who tested positive and had stayed at the site. It would enable quarantine / testing to establish if it was more wide spread. Personally I can’t see that happening to the full campsite for a positive test of the standard variant.
That being the case I would have thought the app would only be of limited use, as unless you scan it daily it only records your arrival day. Perhaps the locator form will carry more details. However, I would have thought the main line of defence would be your booking where all details are available. The rest seems a bit superfluous and more suited to venues like pubs, cinemas etc, where no other details are held.

It will be interesting to see how this works in practice however, it is clear that the requirement is that all must now 'check in'.
It seems that there will be more chance of being contacted following someone who has been at the same venue reporting a positive test.
Last summer we arrived at a venue and as we waited to be taken to a table I scanned the QR code but I was asked to do it again as it had not been witnessed so some places were more 'on it' even then.

I've just looked at a restaurant owned by a family member and their covid secure details have changed in line with the latest regulations. They have to keep your contact details for 21 days and then destroy them. I presume the test and trace app works in a similar way, your app contact is retained long enough to be included in any possible outbreaks.

I installed the different application we are to use in Scotland and I got the impression from scanning through the instructions that one was intended to scan the QR thing when entering premises, and again when leaving. What does make sense, but will get forgotten leaving sites, I'm sure, unless a copy is stuck up also at the exit barrier.

Just sent for my first lot of lateral flow tests this morning. For anyone who isn't aware, anyone can get these now. They come in packs of 7 and are available from certain chemists and from the gov.uk website here:
https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests
.....best to be safe and help stop the spread.

I know what you mean JVB. The other thing is, I couldn't quite see the logic of just sending out 7 in a pack. If they suggest taking the test twice a week, you have an odd one left!! To make matters worse you can only order one pack per household..... who gets the last Rolo?? I guess that's just my OCD!!
Mind you, if you find a participating Chemist you can pick up two packs!!!!

....indeed! 🤣🤣
Apologies, by the way, you quoted my post whilst I was editing my post, adding you can pick two pack up at the Chemist. Quite useful if you are away in the caravan. Put in the postcode on the website andxitctells you which local chemists have the packs....

I don't know if I'm being overly blasé or some jobsworth has been at the instructions. Any site booking already has contact details and the number in the party. Requiring all this information again seems pretty pointless to me from a track and trace point of view.
I'm not entirely convinced about these Lateral Flow tests either. I understand that they are fairly frequently incorrectly carried out and subsequently their efficacy must be in doubt.

Collecting medication from our pharmacy today (Jardines) they seem to be handing them out, two packs per person. We already have some so didn't ask for more. As I mentioned before CMK Library are also handing them out, the Library was being used as a walk in test centre until it reopens for the loaning of books.

The booking details only records the number of adults and children. Doesn't mean that the two adults both live at the same address, although I imagine most will or that children might not be grandchildren living at a different address?
I think the way you have to look at Lateral Flow Tests is that they are just a tool to try and identify COVID without people actually feeling ill. Some suggest a 50% success (or failure) rate but perhaps worth thinking that without them we would probably not know about the 50% of cases found. You don't have to search far on the interest to see that PCR tests results are also questioned. Maybe in years to come we will all understand it a lot more and the truth, whatever that is, will without?

Evening
So, here's how it pans out. One person books in and pays for the stay. They are given a form that has a qr code on it and a declaration. Also on that form is a place to list every person over the age of 16 in your party. So you either scan the code for everyone and sign the declaration that you've done it or fill in the form manually. The form is to be handed in asap. We're briefed to collect forms by close of reception. As mentioned above the forms are to be securely held for 21 days after your departure. If anyone has an issue with either the declaration or the form then staying on site won't be permitted.
Cheers
JK

Everyone is to scan or fill the form pd. No scan or form, no stay.
