r"if you've had a bad experience with dogs on a club site or CL we want to hear from you."
Exactly what good will that do, if as from experience you are contacted by email or phone after you holiday or break has finished ?
I am not anti dogs ,99% of dogs are better behaved then many humans
i am anti having my break or holiday spoilt by bad owners .0 -
Why are you so reluctant to follow the advice given, TMTO? We could be forgiven for thinking you have no interest other than to create disharmony as you're simply going round in circles.
If you are not happy, discuss the issue with Rowena as you have been advised to do time and time again.

I am not anti dog , 99% of dogs are well behaved far better them may humans
I am anti have my holiday, break spoilt by some bad owners
Unlke you i do not get on with everyone on site, especially those that believe their pitch is theirs, to be defended to the Millimetre, not children friendly and eye contact and social interaction etc is to be avoided at all costs
i usually get on with wardens extremely , as i am a sociable person, and like to have laugh and giggle. We have made a number of friend whilst touring, probaly half own dogs, and on this issue hold the same views as myself, on bad owners
For good owners ,bad owners are as much a nuisance to them, as to those that do not own dogs.0 -
Bad owners are as much an annoyance to good owners, as to those that do not own dogs
As i have posted , i am not anti dogs ,as 99% of dogs are well behaved.
Unfortunately you only need one bad owner on site, to spoil the break or holiday for good owners, and non dog owners
I am anti bad owners, i do not understand why you seem to have a problem with that.0 -
There is, of course, nothing wrong with being "anti bad owner", as you say they are just as much a source of frustration, if not more so, to the vast majority of responsible owners.
You say you have tried approaching wardens without success, writing to the club is no good; you want instant action. Why do you think bringing the subject up at regular intervals on this forum is any more purposeful?

I do not have a problem, TMTO, other than with your determination to keep repeating yourself and refusal to take advice.
I echo the sentiments of Moulesy's post above.

So how many times has this happened to you on club sites? What percentage of your stays have your holidays been spoilt by bad owners?
I've know you have spoken of some occasions, indeed you posted in one occasion a few years ago, ended up with me pining the guy up, next to his caravan (actually can I say that is appalling behaviour and should have had you removed from the site) but what percentage of your stays have your holidays been spoilt by bad owners?
I must also say you've been very unlucky with problems with dogs, in over 20 years I've had only one 'issue' on the grass next to our pitch (pun intended) which the wardens cleaned up within minutes, which was all we wanted.
As given above by a few posters now, the advice is to speak to the wardens, then if no address the complain to the club direct or use the contact details given above.

I’m getting the feeling that the whole point is to see posts mounting up. I don’t think there is any other issue here.

I'm temporarily locking this thread and will notify Rowena of my actions. The current conversation is just going round in circles and getting nowhere.

FAO Clarinetman.
Without resurrecting details which may incite some, I just want to say I consider you acted absolutely correctly in the situation you described.
The terms of discussing our canine friends are set out in Rowena's OP above and I guess it is a little difficult to know what constitutes feedback and what may antagonise others.
I'm pleased to see this thread has been re-opened.

Nudged? No, I checked it to see if it was still locked in order to 'speak' to Clarinetman.
Being a sticky, it's always near the top.

Sobering thought?
Since my personal tragedy a few years back now, my little dog has been my strength. My reason to get up in the morning. My reason for not totally shrinking into an underground of emotionless existence. My husband is alive but rarely communicates.
For many, our little canine friends are our salvation. We choose to nurture and keep them safe and, choose to take them everywhere because we don’t have kids.
Tolerance and understanding may be an option? But then again, some so set in their ways, with a disposition to despise our canine friends, may not be able to understand. I ask you for tolerance.

Hi artyboo, I am afraid I do not know or should know anything about your personal tragedy but I do wish you well, I am confused though as if your comment was aimed at me you are wrong in your assumption that I despise dogs, I have had dogs for over 50 years and currently tour with my jackapoo Poppy, my only concerns are that people observe the club rules.
please accept my sympathy for your loss and I know how much a companion a dog can be of such comfort.
Regards

I don’t think anyone is questioning what you did regarding your Castleton visit was wrong clarinetman, including me😁 We got a similar reaction from a fellow camper when I pointed out to him that one of his dogs had pooped without him knowing, that was it, no further conversation.🤷♀️
Not sure if you are aware, but anything relating to dogs, the Club likes to keep in this one thread. That’s probably why your two recent posts were ultimately closed, rather than any of your comments. Artyboo might not even have read your other two posts, I took her post as a general opinion on just how important the canine companionship has been through difficult times, rather than as a response to you.
I think everyone wants to see dog owners being responsible, it means that these important and loved members of our little touring units can continue to travel along with us, being welcome generally. Like you, I get annoyed when a tiny minority don’t take responsibility, as it spoils things for us all😁

I would just urge everyone to read the original post in this thread posted by Rowena. In particular para's two and three which clearly explains the policy and why other threads will be closed. It also points out what action members should take if they encounter a problem on site.

It is not just sites that a few dog owners are "less thoughtfull?"to others, this time of year as most know, there are many birds nesting and young birds with their parents ,
Yesterday when walking Rosa I noticed a creche of about 20 Canada Geese goslings on the the bank of one of the lakes here, with Rosa on a lead a woman with a Terrier off lead was coming toward us, I advised her of the geese and goslings to which she replied my dog is trained to chase geese off our crops, do you think I should curtail our walk as I have not got her lead with me
Also there are several big signs advising visitors to keep dogs on lead in this area as there are swans nesting, some take notice

I was quite surprised just how tolerant and trusting the swans, geese and ducks were regarding nesting at FM when we visited JV. Some were practically on the footpaths. There had been a few signs, and some mesh put up to give a bit of protection in places. Thankfully we didn’t see any dogs interfering with the wildlife, and lots of folks did have their pooches on leads. No harm in a timely reminder it is nesting time though. It’s a lovely place to take a dog, we used the canine activity course on our first visit, but our old lad couldn’t manage that this time.😀

Unfortunately not all dog owners are well behaved. On our recent trip trip to Cornwall, there were a number of signs attached to telegraph poles etc around Helston informing everyone of the sad consequences of dogs on the loose. One of the local swans had been attacked and killed by a labrador and yet still we saw a dog off its lead.

Found this on my travels today and I think the club should introduce this on all club sites.

😂 Our dogs have always preferred puddles.

I bet there'd be no doggy arguments if one went to the wrong bowl - unlike some owners😂😂😂😂
5 -
You know what that is exactly my thoughts. I can just see some review or thread along the lines of I saw an owner allowing their mongrel dog to drink out of the pedigree bowl, the warden saw it too and did nothing!

They always taste nicer to a dog, our one is exactly the same, and the muddied the better.

Did you see my pic David before posting? You'll see it's not my expression at all and fits in with the pic, but either way even if it was mine I'm not sure I'm following what you're trying to say with you knowing he was a dog? I would have thought that was obvious?
I've certainly heard it, you can have a pedigree dog or...
