I will have to beg her forgiveness!
This is what it says -
"Travel
Despite the 'Stay At Home' message coming to an end, people are still warned to keep travel down to a minimum.
There is no distinct guidance on how far one can travel, instead people are told to stay local for the time being.
Overnight stays away from home are still banned, unless you own a second home. Those with another residence will be legally allowed to stay there from Monday."

I am surprised because I thought that was only allowed for special reasons - work, medical etc 🤷🏻♂️

As long they are not in Wales, N Ireland or Scotland of course. I can see a great rush down to Cornwall if that's the case.

I think it’s known as the “Stanley Johnson Loophole”. Something to do with preparing a home for sale, rental, etc..... He swanned off to Greece to a second home a while ago.
I thought they could be prepared, but you couldn’t overnight, but who knows🤷♀️

You cannot leave your home or the place where you are living for holidays or overnight stays unless you have a reasonable excuse for doing so. This means that holidays in the UK and abroad are not allowed.
This includes staying in a second home, caravan or boat, if that is not your primary residence. This also includes staying with anyone who you don’t live with unless they’re in your support bubble.
You are allowed to stay overnight away from your home if you:
are visiting your support bubble
are unable to return to your main residence
need accommodation while moving house
need accommodation to attend a funeral or related commemorative event
require accommodation for work purposes or to provide voluntary services
are a child requiring accommodation for school or care
are homeless, seeking asylum, a vulnerable person seeking refuge, or if escaping harm (including domestic abuse)
are an elite athlete or their support staff or parent provided the athlete is under 18 and it is necessary to be outside of the home in order to take part in training or a competition
Guest accommodation providers such as hotels, B&Bs and caravan parks may remain open for the specific reasons set out in law.Taken from Gov.UK website. Can't see any mention of second homes anywhere.
Have you got a link M or a reference point?

Here it is anyway!
Just to be clear before any tut tutting starts, we won't be joining any immediate rush, have commitments at home over next 2 weeks!

Police advice here. You can visit your second home to check it out but you cannot stay overnight. Our site, where our static van is, have advised that owners can visit their caravans, by appointment, to get them ready but No overnight stays.

What you mean is that you got it wrong. You mixed me up with someone else but are trying to bluff your way out of it.
Just apologise and stop digging a bigger hole. You're making yourself look very silly.

Our site has made clear that, as expected, seasonal and static van owners will be welcome back from April 12, Debs, and I'm sure that is the correct position. I haven't looked to see if ITV have updated that news section; maybe the "second home" bit is just to allow our poor overworked MP's the option to spend a leisurely Easter break at their 2nd/3rd/4th properties!

As the other thread has been locked, here is the link requested, to the legislation. Not difficult to find:

Thankyou, JV, but why pad it out with waffle and a barb? We all make mistakes and there's no shame in admitting that.

It's annoying, especially since it's probably a good bet that the opening of shared facilities last year with the restrictions in place probably didn't contribute to the spread.
2 -
Annoying? No, I think it's extremely sensible and with regard to last year's restrictions, no one can know whether they added to infection rates or not. I say playing it safe is the wise thing to do.

It was stated this morning by one of the should be "listened to" professors last year " we did not understand what really was the main factors of how the virus was being spread"
He said that the very cautious opening of all parts of the UKs economy, would hopefully, give us the chance of finding out with the gaps between each phase whether we can control it
hence i would take that as why using your own facility first use of camp sites ,and then a month later open site facilities (with restrictions) and hopefully in a month after that ,open the country up to as normall as it is going to be for quite a few years to come

I've been popping in and out of thread since it started and I can see it hasn't got any further.
Facilities are not opening until May - fine but just accept it and stop whining about them not being open. I, for one, haven't even considered going away and we've cancelled everything now up until the Spring Bank Holiday and we may not even go then depending upon the infection rates If we do we shall use our own facilities anyway whether or not the site facilities are open.

Just received this from the CAMC.
The question is answered.😀
Club campsites in England - Based on the latest Government guidance, we are unfortunately unable to open our toilets or showers and other indoor shared facilities (excluding receptions) when our Club campsites in England reopen on 12 April. The provisional date for reopening these facilities is currently 17 May 2021, however this will be dependent on Government guidance. Service points and waste disposal facilities will be available and open for use, operated in line with Government guidelines.

I accept it. I am not exactly whining about it. It is what it is. I just happen to think it makes little sense considering what similar facilities can open elsewhere.
But we are where we are.

Just received this email from Fakenham racecourse, regarding our booking for late April.
Site re-opening
We very much look forward to opening the Fakenham Racecourse Caravan, Motorhome & Camping Site from Monday 12th April 2021, when a warm welcome will await you.
The latest Government protocol does allow for our communal shower and toilet blocks to be open for guests to use from 12th April, although we strongly recommend you use your on-board facilities. However, knowing that you will have access to the on-site ablutions will hopefully make your stay more comfortable. Guests will have to stay within their family bubble whilst staying on-site and socialising between units will not be allowed. Unfortunately, we shall not be able to accommodate tents until at least 17th May 2021.1
