Contrary to the ‘views’ of the COVID  ‘experts’ in this discussion, it is abundantly clear that what is permitted under the new rules is at best subjective and open to interpretation. This is why the club are ‘seeking clarification’ and until it is received none of the ‘experts’ actually know anything.

If it makes you happy to use our words to suit your own ends, then be my guest. No one is claiming to he an 'expert', as you so charmingly put it.

I cannot see where ayone has claimed to be an expert? but many seem to have read the govenments lockdown instructions ,as they are laid down , rather than trying to read into them anything that may suit an individuals hopes?

I think i said many posts ago ,that it would be interesting how many have booked into sites without the understanding that facility blocks would be closed until the 17May and will arrive without understanding the HMGs instrutions on the "route out"and that camping sites can open on 12th April as long as visitors have their own on board facilities and will not be able to use multi occupational facilities

Hope indeed undecided.  But in my case the wish that people would stop trying to read doubt into a crystal clear statement laughing.

Maybe the Government should ask the CAMC to make up all the rules for the tourism and hospitality sector, as you clearly think they know the risks better than anyone else.

If it was crystal clear there would be a statement saying that campsites could open but that amenity blocks would have to remain closed. It doesn’t say that, although the wording does imply it. Hence this thread.

The one thing that a long membership of this Club had taught us is that a great deal of things are “vaguely” interpreted. It’s been the single certainty down the years........😂

Would it not have been better for the Club to simply state :

following the latest Government statement our sites will reopen on the 12th April but the facility block will remain  closed until the 21st May. All members will be required to be self contained regarding toilets and showers. If this situation changes with regards to dates or facilities we will inform you in due course.

That is exactly what it does say.

Self-contained accommodation such as campsites and holiday lets, where indoor facilities are not shared with other households, can also reopen.

Amenity blocks are shared facilities therefore they must be closed if the site is to open.

Of course one could argue that any site with an indoor facility of any sort, whether open or closed, cannot open.  Perhaps that would suit everyone better especially if one accepts that a shared facility could also be an information room, a drying room, bar, coffee shop, non-essentials shop, etc, etc.

I agree it does mention campsites in the summary documentation. However, in the full blurb just:-

Overnight stays away from home in this country will be permitted and self-contained accommodation - those that do not require shared use of bathing, entry/exit, catering or sleeping facilities - can also reopen, though must only be used by members of the same household.

Note the reference to shared use of bathing. Also the reference to entry / exit. Public toilets already in use have shared entry / exit.

As I said before the implication is certainly there, but crystal clear, No!

Judging by the trends we are witnessing around the world today the prospect of a u-turn or slight relaxation of the current road map would be nothing else but foolhardy it has been suggested. Some are even predicting another full lockdown would follow in weeks to come!

😕 Figures are glum here in our region. They are just not falling, hovering at a certain level, slight yo yo every couple of days. Tried to read one or two reports as to why, lots of factors, including the somewhat belated increases due to Kent mutation. We didn’t fare too badly here compared with other areas further South, so there might just be something in this. However, it’s getting busier and busier when out and around, and certain groups are not helping, not showing any kind of social distancing discipline.

On a more personal note, learned yesterday first family member has been hospitalised, with Covid. Niece, mid 30’s, fit, athletic, deputy head at an infants schools, she has worked throughout, as school has heavy load of disadvantaged (that’s a polite euphemism for parental failure) children. Finally succumbed, as have at least six more staff and lots of children. The school is closed for the time being. She is on a drip and steroids at the moment, fingers crossed she gets no worse. Her partner has it as well☹️

It’s still out there, wreaking havoc.

Sadly the C19 virus and mutations are not going away and will be with us for some time to come. Even having both jabs does not mean that you will not catch the virus. If you do catch it hopefully the symptoms will not be as bad and you may avoid hospitalisation.

With regard to this thread and indoor facilities, it appears to be a very emotive topic. Perhaps it has run its course now and the MODs may wish to lock it.

Various camping and outdoor hospitality organisations have made their representations to the Government so we will just have to wait for guidance and decisions on indoor facilities hopefully on or around 29 March. Not much more can be done.

And many sites and recreational companies have decided to open up with limited facilities, they are quite clear on what will or will not be available and will review the next stage on May 17th in line with government proposals.

Strange thing to post. “I am no longer interested so please close this thread” springs to mind. 🤷‍♀️

Moving on, we have no hesitation in booking a self contained cottage as we did last October. Things were slightly different, with earlier leave, and later in times, but it was not much extra hassle bagging the used bedding and towels and leaving them for collection. Lots of things had been removed to avoid cross contamination, such as books, DVDs but this was advised on booking, and if you wanted you simply took your own and took them back home. We watched a big holiday cottage on a lovely CL being cleaned and sanitised for the next visitors in, took a team of five, hours to do, it’s one we have used in the past, wouldn’t hesitate to use again.

The difference is most of the others will have categorically stated that facilities will not be open.

Yes, all of the sites, large(ish) and small, with which we have booked have categorically stated we will need our own facilities as theirs will be closed.  I don't understand why CAMC are so confused.

The CAMC possibly has a larger than usual percentage of membership who choose not, or cannot, use onboard facilities, so perhaps they are hoping for a change?
I am guessing a lot of folks like this join CAMC on the understanding that facilities will be a known factor, in terms of cleanliness, heating, ease of use, etc.... Hence it might just be a case of  all or nothing, with no desire to go elsewhere? Nothing wrong with this approach if it is what suits, it just means a bit longer waiting until facilities re open. 🤔

    🤷‍♀️something just happened?

After having spent all of last season without the need to visit the toilet block (.....just can't seem to find the correct way of wording this....), it has at least given us the confidence of booking sites without toilet facilities.  In the past, we've always avoided sites without facilities, but it certainly won't worry us so much in the future.

I don't think the Club is "confused",

Don't forget some members have tent trailers or campervans without on-board facilities or need disabled facilities. I am assuming they are trying to open toilet blocks for these groups in particular and are waiting for clarification from the various governments so that they can.

Other operators have taken a different view and have said no facilities will open. This means they probably save money and are happy to turn some customers away.

I think the Club is doing its best to meet the needs of all its members not just those happy to use their own facilities.

So not "confused", just trying to offer a service?

Whatever the Club is "trying to do" the current Government road map does not allow for the opening of "shared indoor facilities" until the 21st May - no ifs or buts - to me it is crystal clear.

Those who can't or won't use their van facilities will simply have to wait until that time.

Have the government not done "U" turns before or to put it politely changed the advice given to something different based on new information, we still got a long way to go before we can roll our LV's by which time the "R" rate might be at Zero laughingbut i dont have a problem using own facilities and we will not be rolling until May 4th laughing

P.S. is it not the 17th May when facilities can open laughing

Last year the C&CC, when some sites had closed facilities, welcomed those who had made their own provision eg wash tents and portable loos. It's possible to caravan and camp with your own facilities, there are portable showers around now (not the foot pump style ones from days of yore...wink) How did you all manage?!!

One thing stated by both clubs was the request to use your own facilities where possible, there is no need to add to the spread of Covid by sharing with others at present. It's a very tentative step out of lockdown on the 12th April, I hope it's handled in a cautious manner.
