I was wondering if the Club were dithering over opening Club Sites on 12th, in case they get lots of cancellations because there’s no facilities, and/or folks won’t pay the going price without a reduction? If they can’t fill the pitches, and/or have to discount for all those who do go, will it be worth opening? All sorts of things for decision makers to ponder over🤔

I have just recieved an email from the cc advising that from 29th March the storage part of our local site will be open without appointment from 0900-1800  to visit our LV and that servicing and washdown will be available by appointmen but apart from the water and waste facilities all  others will be closed UFN

so it seems those who are "sheltering?" site very busy, do not have access either

I think they already know what we all already know and it was hoped that a change may be forthcoming be it due to data or pressure as we saw to our detriment in the past. Thing is this government now seem to be very much more cautious and will stick with its 'no earlier than' data driven policy .

Have a little faith Tricia and remain positive. With determination and resolve it will, it just may look slightly different to what we presently expect.😋

If this thread and similar older threads on the same subject are anything to go by I suppose there would be some cancellations. Perhaps those that are complaining about facilities being closed would care to say whether they would cancel their booking? On the plus side that would allow a lot of those who have been unable to book and who are not bothered that facilities are closed to take up the cancellations? Perhaps the Club would have to made an adjustment to fees as they did when swimming pools back last summer when they were closed but on balance I would reckon they would be please to have some income coming in even if at a reduced rate. Now it could be that despite the complaints about closed facilities those people my well bite the bullet and go anyway, it would be a good way to establish whether it's an empty threat?

We are booked into Ferry Meadows during period that facilities are likely to be closed, but it won’t affect us, as we surmised that they might not be open back when we booked, and we use our own facilities anyway. A reduction would be nice, but given that it’s suits us fine for what we have planned, we are unlikely to cancel if it doesn’t happen. 🙂

Will shops remove plastic shielding . No. Will NHS stop wearing PPI. No. Will GP face patients. No.

All spacing will continue for many years to come. Large gatherings will still be cause for concern. The talk of Covid jabs every year are all ready being discussed.

I wish , with all my heart that everything will return to normal. But cannot

    see it happening soon.

As said it may look different but normal has never ever been a static thing. Normality will return, we just don't know what it will look like yet. Folk are already guessing mind and we will, I'm sure, make the best we possiby can of it. That's always been the case!

+1, I agree with you it will never be the same again. This will be the new normal-we evolve to survive👍🏻. We are alive many are not, we as a species were never designed to stay static we are who we are because of that very fact. All of us are witnessing a very significant part of modern Human History. We are actually a part of something that will be taught in schools for hundreds of years. ‘The virus that shaped the future’.

‘The virus that shaped the future’.

In terms of numbers (deaths), it doesn’t really come close to those lost during the Spanish Flu pandemic. The only thing worthy of note, has been our ability (hopefully) to overcome it.

Well, it's either it or us! The new normal is always just over the horizon, always has been. I'm amazed at my three year old grandson, he has a whole new vocabulary, a whole new set of behaviours, a whole new relationship with his World, all alien to my childhood but very normal to him. Change is normal. It often happens despite us not wanting it and just sometimes because we (the majority) do.We owe it to the next genererations to get whatever that new normal becomes  right, whatever that may look like. Things at the moment are a changing fast. But change, that's normal.

That shows greatly the progression of the Human species👍🏻. I doubt it’ll be negated fully it will most probably become like the annual flu. A combined jab needed once a year.

In some ways a bit (a tiny bit admittedly) like Brexit then Rocky. I mention this not as a political statement but just to illustrate that change is always upon us. Sometimes 'inflicted' upon ourselves. We may need a regular 'jab' in an attempt to convince us that was right mind!😱

Here's the glass half full prognosis.  Over the next 12-18 months better more effective vaccines will become available, and we may even have a combined Flu / Covid 19 vaccine that will be given annually.  Over time but probably within the same period, compulsory face coverings as we know them today will be removed.  Social distancing will be relaxed as will controls on indoor socializing.  Travel outside of the UK will remain controlled depending on the country visited and the prevalence of the virus therein.  The timescales will depend on many things including the Covidiots.

+1 but with caveat, we mustn't let the latter mentioned make it anything less than half full! 😋

    David

When I started this thread it was purely a question - did peeps know about the restriction?. I already have bookings, both CC and commercial, that I am using. I have no problem with using my own facilities. Like most other threads on here, they quickly become hijacked from the original question/subject.

I answered your question in the third post but you must surely have expected other responses and discussion in view of your comments. A point well made by Steve.

And posed as a question of course folk are going to offer help in explaining how they 'got it'! It's been an enlightening thread in my opinion and helped modify both understanding and belief for many of us I believe. As said previously things have and are changing very fast.

And the club have yet again updated their site information today, March 17th,  without any facility updates. Surely this decision could be announced in line with gov.uk directives already out there?!

I find it staggering that the largest club in the U.K. still can’t get a straight answer from the government on the question of shared facilities.

The answer to the question has been known for many weeks but the CAMC refuses to accept it.

Surely, everyone who watched tonight's Downing Street briefing can be in no doubt, the Government will not be changing anything to accelerate the opening dates or to ease any restrictions.

You may believe the CAMC is so important that the Government will make a special case for it but I believe you are sadly mistaken. You'll either have to use your own facilities on the 12th April or stay at home. Your choice.

We, and they,  have had a straight direction weeks ago. There is no ambiguity. Why should the club think they can promote a governmental U-Turn?

    It's all in this document.

Covid 19 Response Spring 2021 Summary

There is no ambiguity.  What is it you don't understand?  What is it CAMC don't understand?

Unlike you, I do not make any assumptions about the CAMC, the government or the comments on here. The club have been quite clear in stating they are seeking ‘clarification’ regarding the opening of shared facilities. Not that they are seeking to be a ‘special case’ ! This means the information the club have is ambiguous.

Really? That’s brilliant, show me exactly where it states CAMC can not open shared facilities with appropriate social distancing measures in place?

Read the whole of the first paragraph under step 2 and then concentrate on the last sentence.
