New Ferry Route to Morocco
Just read <this article> about a new direct ferry service between Poole and Morocco.
Wouldn't it be handy if they were to take motorhomes and caravans as well - makes a winter stay in Morocco much easier and no EU's 90 in 180 rule to contend with.
I wonder how much it would cost ?

Two and a half to three days at sea ain't going to be cheap. As it's aimed at commercial traffic, will they want the space cluttered up with the likes of us?

As they say...safety in numbers. There are some seasoned travellers who organise and lead MH group travel in Morocco. A good option if that’s your kind of thing? Info on Motorhomefun.

Hi Jim, I was thinking out loud recently, about foreign touring and maybe being more adventurous, and mentioned a ferry from Italy to Greece or the islands.
The response was non verbal but gave a strong indication that the answer was no!!
Like AD have only glimpsed Morocco, and I am quite glad to leave it like that and to you and others who are more adventurous.
By the way,'Motorhomefun'-is that an oxymoron?!!

I would love to see Fes and Marrakesh - but it would be a £50 return with Ryanair and then one of the high speed trains (yes Morocco is ahead of us) to cross from one of those towns to the other.

Not yet, the service has only just been announced and there is very little info online even on unitedseaways.com. There's plenty of time to find out as the foreign travel ban hasn't been lifted yet.
I have only been to Morocco once, in July 1970, when I drove from the UK via one of the early cross-channel hovercraft services, driving through France, Spain and Morocco over the Atlas Mountains to Rissani on the edge of the Sahara.
It was a whistle stop tour as we got to the Sahara and back in 14 days! It left a lasting impression especially the walled city of Meknes, the stunning scenery in the mountains and the mud brick forts at Midelt and Erfoud.
We hired the VW Microbus from a garage in Peterborough; they must have been quite surprised when we returned it a fortnight later with nearly an extra 5,000 miles on the clock!

Had a week in Marrakesh in 2007 for a significant birthday. Its a great place to visit and all the locals were friendly and helpful. We "acquired" a guide when exploring the souk, he took us to many places we would never have seen without him and even had tea at his house, all for a pound or two. I would recommend it and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Thank you PeeDee, Very entertaining BUT I scrolled down to the end of the Script and the comment about the final site worried me somewhat when it said that A motorhome disposal point was available . Were the roads really that bad ??

For those wintering in Algarve and Andalusia this may be a viable route as it's only a half hour hop to Spain. For the increasing numbers wintering in Morocco it could be very attractive.

Wouldn’t help much as Gibraltar will, for the purposes of border controls, effectively become part of Schengen in due course.

Both parties have reached agreement in principle for precisely that to happen - Gibraltar will be ‘connected to’ rather than ‘part of’ Schengen. There have yet to agree details e.g.Spain think they’ll control Schengen border, but Gibraltar insists on EU agency guards. Too much at stake locally for a land border between Spain & Gibraltar to be strictly enforced. As a UK national you’ll go through immigration when arriving in Gibraltar and have your passport stamped on entering Spain and the 90 day clock will be ticking. It’s already happening albeit in a random fashion as is the Spanish way. Not sure if time in Gibraltar will count to 90 days or not. I hope not as I visit often to visit family.
