I've enjoyed reading this thread as Schleswig Holstein is the only place I've visited and thoroughly enjoyed being shown round the area by friends. Going between the North Sea and the Baltic was very interesting, I would love to have seen the Frisien Islands. We saw some beautiful wild coastal spots, plus travelling between Husum to Glucksburg on the opposite sides of this area. It's so close to Denmark, we went over the border for a visit there too.

Like the OP Surchy, thanks all for the information, glad to hear from Lutz cards not cash have become the norm and I'll be tempted to get the Stellplatz info even if we can't go at present. smile

Mention of the Baltic got me thinking about our trip in 2011 which I recorded here http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/baltic_byways.htm One thing that fascinated me was to come across new build houses with thatched roofs. See picture below.

In the area we visited there was a beautiful ancient farm with an enormous thatched roof and the local dialect  matched some of the "old english" that came over with early invaders and settlers to the the uk.
