Warranty Extension is it worth it?

I received a letter from MB&G Insurance informing me that my caravan warranty is due to expire on 3/02/2021  Our caravan is a 2017 Lunar Delta which we purchased new in July 2017 from our local dealer

I have not had any previous dealings with this Insurance company, but they are quoting a  previous premium from 4/02/2018 per 12 months renewal price for comparison of £119.67    I have never paid any premium for warranty to any company previously. They are now offering me a Silver Cover for caravans over 5 years old and up to 15 years old with a premium of £229 for 12 months cover.  They state there is an individual claim limit of £1000.00 on each and every claim and unlimited claims up to the retail value of the vehicle.

Our caravan is not yet 5 years old, and a one thousand pound limit on individual claims seems to be very low to me. Is this normal for warranty insurance?

Has anyone else extended their caravan warranty, if so does this sound a reasonable price to pay?

Just to clarify, this is for warranty cover not Insurance cover.  Our regular caravan insurance is with CAMHG

Thanks for any help

Everything hinges on what you'd be getting for your money and what you feel is reasonable for your own peace of mind.

Personally, I'd save the premiums and pay for repairs myself. Only you can decide based on your knowledge of your van and the terms of the policy.

Agree with Tinwheeler, the premium is not that high but neither is the cover.

Thank you all for your replies.   Yes, I do understand this a decision only I can make taking into account the premium, the cover offered and whether or not I consider it to be a reasonable purchase for the cover offered.

I suppose my question really is has anyone experience of extended caravan warranty, and if so, are these figures comparable for similar age vans? I realise I could go to a comparison site for prices, but I had hoped there may be some people on here who could give their experience of extended caravan warranties be that good or bad.

    Thanks for any help

We also bought a Lunar Clubman (as in photo) 2017 ...and received an extended warranty with MB&G as part of the deal...says on the policy document worth £399 and valid up to 2023. It does cover water ingress and delamination...

I think a premium of nearly 25% of the maximum payout is excessive and not worth the money.

I think the water ingress warranty on our Bailey is for 6 years, so we will have to decide what to do within the next 12 months.  To be honest, I'm beginning to think that we've probably had most thingsxfixed that are going to go wrong... 😃
