Track and Trace & going abroad
What would be the intentions of those who tour "over there" if they are sat in ones vehicle at the quay waiting to board a ferry and one gets a phone call from the T&T team saying they you are required to self isolate for 10 days as you had been identified as having been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid? Would you continue with your journey, knowing full well that you could be carrying the virus and so pass it onto others on board, who you would be unable to avoid, and take it to your destination, or would you about turn and return home to self isolate as required?

Exactly the same decisions to be made as when on the way to a destination in the Uk. No difference at all.

Nowt to get over.....oh sorry! There's the channel, of course!!😋
Doesn't answer my question though! Perhaps you hadn't considered the possibility of it happening to you and you need time to resolve exactly what you would do!

It may be that a negative test will be required for getting on the ferry. If that was positive you would not be permitted to travel. The same should apply to a request to self isolate. If it came to light that you had ignored the request, I would imagine your health insurance would be invalid.

I’d not go Nells, even if one of my family tested positive as that then puts me in the frame. No ifs or buts, a life(anyone’s) isn’t worth a holiday👍🏻
PS-it’s a good moral question in these times👍🏻

One wonders whether the app encourages people to be more cavalier regarding contact, relying on it to warn if one has encountered hazard. Not having the app could make one more cautious as you have no way of knowing who is dangerous. Treat every stranger as a potential killer!

Even if you were to ignore the risk to others what about the possibility that it might be you that gets COVID because you have been in contact with someone with the virus? Is there a choice?

I’ve got the app CY, it’s not pinged once🤷🏻♂️. I’ve also followed your last line 100%👍🏻. Mmmm, I think I now know why the app hasn’t pinged🤔

Some years ago I attended a speed awareness course and the one thing that made a lasting impression was when the instructor discussed 'Intentions V Actions"
He said that we judge ourselves by our intentions but judge others by their actions.
So, if we take the RH lane of two approaching traffic lights, but it turns out to be a right turn only lane, we will indicate left to move back to the correct lane.
We intended t take the correct lane but were unaware of the restriction so had to correct this so no issue-but the people behind are likely thinking why di he take the wrong lane.
In the scenario that nellie gives it would be my intention to do the right thing, and as euror says there is no difference if that were to happen when heading for a UK destination, and return home.

I recently had a message on the NHS app saying that I had to isolate for 6 days.
I was puzzled as this was after we had been isolating for almost two weeks due to an impending hospital procedure.
Back in November I tested positive for Covid and the hospital informed T&T. I was advised to tell my wife to isolate and to contact T&T.
As I then discovered unless you have the NHS app or can go online, neither of which applies to my wife, there is no way of informing them.
So, its not infallible, no system is.

Add a Govt controlling it & it becomes super fallible🤷🏻♂️🙁

Check out what’s been happening at the DVLA Centre in Swansea, a Government run department. No moral dilemma there, morals don’t exist! Staff too frightened to give their own names, warnings given for time off work, turn off your T&T app, no proper social distancing. I would make Schapps work there for a week, under the same conditions. No wonder area has had some of the worst case figures in Wales.

I thought if you ignored a trach and trace instruction to isolate you could be prosecuted with a hefty fine. And so you should. If you get contacted then follow the rules whether it ruins your plans or not. If more had listened to the guidelines and followed them better then we may not be in such a terrible situation
People are dying please do not let yourself be part of the problem, try to be part of the remedy lets get the numbers down and start acting responsibly

You are correct if you're contacted by the T&T team but not if you get zapped by the App which is totally anonymous. An App contact will tell you to self isolate but is unenforceable due to its anonymity.

Thanks for your replies. I thought that they would follow those lines, but fear that there will be others who ignore the instructions and carry on regardless. If that be the case it's no wonder that the virus is spreading so readily.

The Sth African strain is getting a hold here now, it won’t be long before the Brazilian one gets a toe hold🤷🏻♂️. It can be controlled as other countries have proved-Govt needs a strategy & stop spinning so many plates one for each interested party. Jobs can be replaced-lives can’t☹️
