No Site WiFi

I suppose it'e my own fault really but I paid the annual fee for WiFi on the assumption that all club sites had WiFi of some sort. Now I find that one of the sites I have booked (Putts Corner) does not have WiFi. I'm sure it had WiFi last time I was there but that could have been some time ago. As my booking is in June and I only want serviced pitches I'm a bit stuck especially as I now travel alone and WiFi is quite important to me. I feel a bit annoyed with myself have paid out for something that is not available and now it will be difficult to book somewhere else for a week..

It did not have Wifi when we were there late 2018 and we were told that it would not be replaced then also just looking on the Putts site it does not show Wifi anymore, OH got EE whilst we were there so perhaps an EE dongle may be the answer.

Frank, I wouldn't book any club site on the basis of it having wifi as you are often likely to be disappointed. If an internet connection is important to you, I suggest making your own arrangements utilising the 4G network will give better results.

I can recommend Mood View CL ,  near Aylesbeare, number 434 in directory. Hard Standing serviced pitches, adults only and we had no problem with 4G EE signal whilst there 2 years ago. It's near where you want to be.

Think that's probably Moor View CL and yes, highly recommended.

Don't forget that you can tether your phone to get a signal via the laptop or other.  I put my phone on the van roof ( unless it is raining ) and use a suitable extension cable run inside via the roof light. The van is, after all, acting as a Faraday cage .

Similarly it may be possible to use a signal amplifier, again on the exterior of your van.

Well with the covid still progressing I don't think it's worth booking anything again this year and paying for wifi for 12 months when you cannot get on any sites yet again due to full lockdown is a bit daft really imho. Just do what the majority do nowadays and tether to mobile or get a mifi.

We are now into our third lockdown and in the last 12 months have done less than a quarter of our normal nights away ,

We usually take out an annual wifi subscription with Air Angel our last ran out in august last year ,and will not take out another until the situation with the virus for us improves ,and we venture out again

Ours ran out in September 2019. As we only stayed a few nights at sites in November and March I decided to use my phone 4G and wait until our tour in May to renew, which of course never happened. When we got out and about again in September the sites were full 7 days a week. I was sceptical that the Wifi would cope, as in an average year that would not normally be the case, except at weekends. This proved to be the case, I could only rarely access the free content. Therefore, I have still not renewed and any renewal is unlikely whist the sites remain as full as the have been.

Luckily for me my friends at Virgin have made my mind up, in exchange for me accepting a £7 a month reduction in my monthly charge they have agreed to upgrade my Broadband to 500mb, give me Sky Cinema and most importantly give me a free unlimited Text/Calls/Data sim, so it looks like I'll be using my phone hotspot.
