    Sorry Vulcan you are blaming the wrong people, the damage had already been done by then!  I don't suppose for one moment the people that voted to leave had in their minds the possible difficulties it might cause those of us who want to travel in Europe, why would they? As I understand it this Deal comes up for review in 4/5 years time and I suppose it is possible that would be the time that such things would be reviewed. The trouble with extending the time that you are allowed, on top of the already generous 90 days, is that you get into the realms of Freedom of Movement which obviously cuts both ways and I imagine the current Government wouldn't be so keen on that. I think we have to face facts that the number of people where 90 days is insufficient is probably quite small in the scheme of things so probably the VIsa option will be best for those that do. Life would be easier if there was an EU wide Visa rather than country by country?

    If people want to go, and I mean really really want to go (over there), they are going to have to jump through some more hoops, a petition at this stage is not going to make a shred of differance, so no good crying over spilt milk, we are out and we are just going to have to get used to it laughing

    I was asking my sister in Norway this question, but she could not answer it.........

    Norway is in Shengen I believe, but not the EU, but as  Norwegian  citizen residing in UK I am presuming I could travel to and stay in, Norway, as often and for as long as I wish.

     But if OH  comes too, as she would normally do, would I have to send her home after 90 days?   😟

    Also.....

    Am I only allowed the 90/180 days within the EU?

    And does going to Norway count towards that?

    Purely academic at present as we are not allowed to travel at the moment, and could stay academic as far as we are concerned as I doubt we will be taking any extended trips abroad in future,  but would be interesting to know.

    2 slightly shorter trips too close together could be a problem though.

    Planes don't only fly to Spain, Croatia and Cuba they fly all over the world!  laughing

    I'm not against a staycation but I do want to get abroad as well. at least a couple of times this year - and much more next year.

    Looks like we are headed for another national lock down so no amount of petitioning will get you out of the UK until all this is sorted, and countries such as Spain and France are playing catch up with the UK which will drag it on for some time yet undecided

    The visa is for the Schengen area, not for the EU. It must be issued for the country first arrived at in the Schengen area, but once inside, one is free to travel from one Schengen country to the next.

    Only 12 months away,  David! If all goes according to plan we have two European trips booked for this year. Quite happy to wait a while before travelling further afield again. Looking at South America (me) and Borneo (Mrs M). But time will tell whether either of them are realistic. smile

    We intend to go to Australia as soon as we are able but it's a hell of a long way.

    I think I'd be more concerned with the legal position for regular meds than if I needed a visa for more than 90 days.....

    Especially if you're touring!

    I don't think that situation has been changed by Brexit, I think it has always been the case. Some surgeries enforce it more than others. With clever management of prescriptions it is often possible to build up a buffer of more than three months supply. Not that I go away for that length of time but I don't inform my doctor of my trips abroad.

    You can sometimes get meds ‘over there’, without a prescription. Certainly the case with pharmacies in Spain & Italy, probably other EU countries? Just need to research alternative brand names.

    Fordingbridge policy of removing patients from their  list for 3 month+ stays is a bit severe. Good reason for not telling them anything about your plans!

    I'm with David, try to 'bank' a supply in the cupboard for holidays to avoid begging the GP for more.

    We use the Patient Access app to order medications, and my surgery made an error, whereby for 1 of my medications, I could get 56 days supply every 28 days! Unfortunately, I need 2 other medications, and these are correctly set up.

    My GP surgery also use Patient Access & are meticulous in only issuing 28 days.....

    Fordingbridgegps was just an example as I did read somewhere previously that it was 'illegal' to apply for meds if you were not residing in the UK for 3 months.....

    But I'll make a plan no doubt.....
