Some may wish to sign this and try to get more support.

More time in the EU.

Hi, are you saying that EU citizens can stay here for 180 days and, if so, in how many?

Other forum posts suggest that the visa proposals are reasonable, I have no idea, so can’t see HMG being too interested unless the petition gets lots of support.

I'm not saying or suggesting anything; it's not my petition. However, as I understand it we can only stay 90 in 180 rolling days in the EU whereas the same restriction does not apply to EU citizens visiting the UK.

I cannot understand why the EU should treat visitors from the UK any different to any other non-EU citizens. The 180 day limit that the UK government set was at their own initiative. The EU didn't ask for it. For that reason I don't see much chance of the petition being followed up.

    I agree.

A woman on another forum thought the cost of the new Animal Health Certificates was a bit steep so was plugging a  petition for our own government to pay her vets bills. Fat chance I thought.

That's a very good point - so much we could have done even within the old EU.

Boris was proudly boasting about banning pulse fishing on Andrew Marr's programme this morning as an achievement but had no answer when it was pointed out to him that we could have done that anyway, in fact France had already done so. frown

Yep, you can’t leave the club and retain the membership benefits. When 52% decided to press the self destruct button, our fate as travellers was sealed! RIP winter in Spain.

Still waiting for the great leap forwards.....

Quite right, if the remainers had not gone into overdrive after the 2016 vote and scuppered our chances of a good deal we would not be in this position.

+1, it’s time to pull up the big boy/girl pants & move on. Democracy was served like it or no. It’s over. We live on the continent of Europe regardless of sovereignty. I am a European👍🏻

All a bit late now, I think NI will do well and the rest of us have a lot of adjustments to make. So no petition for me.

Knowhere in my post did I say that the May deal would have been better, it was the likes of John Bercow / Gina Miller etc. that sabotaged our originally good ability to negotiate a good deal.

Nowt to  do with me as I did not cast a vote. Not unhappy about the outcome but very much so about the time it took to enter the transition period,

I'm with Rocky, its done, move on and make the best of it. If you want to stay more than 90 days it simple, apply for a visa.

Must say that I was quite surprised at the post from Lutz which suggests that the limit we now face was down to HMG and not the EU.

I was really not too bothered about the limit as I have no intention of staying in mainland Europe for anywhere near 90 days in 180 however, I can see that not only does the current proposal seem unfair, as it is not a like for like arrangement,it is also another small, in the scale of things, thing that will just keep the whole Brexit negativity going on and on and on.

Yup! me to....there are channels you can go down to achieve what was there before if you want it, it is not rocket science, for me 90 days is more than sufficient, and the way things are going overthere with the vaccine roll out etc, then any chance of getting overthere are looking slim, I reckon most of the EU are approx 2 weeks behind the UK when it comes to feeling the effects of the new strain of Covid-19, if i am correct that could be an interesting scenario.undecided

I believe that Croatia will allow much longer stays with no added fuss so you may be lucky.  Certainly worth checking wink.

I picked this up from somewhere:

You can stay 90 days in any 180-day period within the Schengen area. For instance, after a 90-day stay in the Schengen area, the person can immediately travel to Croatia and stay for another 90 days there.

Would that help?  Perhaps 40 days out, 90 days there, and 40-50 days back?

I think it came from the Saveybackpackers web site and refers to Schengen Visas This might or might not work for the  UK 90 in 180 day visa waiver?

Make hay while you can. Croatia wants in on Schengen and at some point, when it suits them, the EU will let them in just as they have with Gibraltar.

Another option is time in Morocco, maybe not for the faint hearted, but plenty do it and it’s just a stones throw away from Tarifa.
