I think this Club would allow us onsite with this, although it is a slider. But it looks as though the bed is fixed, and the cooker fixed.

Is it a Man? German built? OH says they used to use them as support vehicles on Paris-Dakar, until some wag decided they ought to race them as well!😂

There's a firm in Doncaster- next to SAP that did our E&P installation that, have just started doing these off-road motorhome conversions - some awesome beasts on display in their yard!

I love the look of the go anywhere Landrovers but after a lifetime of folk loving em but decrying their reliability I’d not(nor have) owned one, but I’ll not take away the identity for sure👍🏻

Friends of ours bought a new LR safari type wagon in the early 70s and had it kitted out with a basic cooker and other essentials along with a pop up roof with a couple of hammock style beds. They drove from here all the way down through Europe and Africa, including crossing the Sahara. Their trip took around 7 years and they eventually ended up in Oz via NZ. The LR served them well and they sold it in Oz before flying home.

Rocky, we had lots of early LR’s, Series 2a, 2 x Series 3, then a Range Rover, then a 90 County, then an early Discovery. They were all superb vehicles for what we needed at the time. Towed ton and a half of horses and box up and down our hills to shows, towed our vans, towed trailers, never got stuck in snow or mud. We camped in ours as well, set up kitchen in rear, slept in a tent. (Not Club Site🤣) Easy to work on, most things you just brayed with a hammer!
Then came the day we stopped to look at a Jeep Wrangler. Tressillian Garage, on the banks of the Fal, near Truro. It was love at first sight, but we couldn’t afford one back then, and they were a lot rarer than they are now. We did eventually get a Wrangler, awesome machine. Decided on a second car, and we traded in a rather lovely Rover 75 Estate for a LR Freelander. It broke down on way home from garage. They trailered it back, sorted it out, but it had all sorts of issues. We got rid quick, traded it in for a Jeep Patriot. LR’s are overpriced for us nowadays. And nowhere near as reliable. Friends who have stuck with them are back and forth to dealers on a regular basis, and not for minor stuff either. I still like LR’s, but they aren’t bought nowadays for what they used to be bought for, by most folks. When I worked in Saddlery, some who slithered in in snow didn’t know how to use all the tech stuff they now have.
I do like the look of the Ineos Grenadier. Mind, he’s taken building them overseas.

😂 Funnily enough, I used to say to my OH it’s a bit like stirring a pudding! But that was our old Series 3. Last LR I drove was the Freelander. It was one of the early ones, two door. It had some brilliant features, lowering tailgate window was great for dogs, split sunroof, heated front screen. But oh the important bits like transmission😱 we always had oily bits lying around in garage, just put them back on to trade it in.
Our big Wrangler is automatic, with tiptronic like use as well if needed. We took it out in snow yesterday, for a ride out.

Ah, but CY, that’s it. They are designed to get off grass without too much effort. It’s your wheel spinning, wide tyre, no tread stuff that does the damage.
