Spanish gas
Hi all, hoping a fellow member will be able to help with this,
Subject to covid restrictions, we hope to drive down to Spain for 6/8 weeks in 2021, as we will no doubt run out of calor gas, we will need to connect a Cepsa or Repsol propane gas cylinder to our motorhome, as our motorhome has a bulkhead regulator connected to our 6 kg propane cylinder with a high pressure hose, what do l need to get to be able to connect a Cepsa or Repsol gas cylinder to our motorhome, do l need to replace the regulator that is fitted and get a regulator to fit the Spanish gas bottles etc, any help would be much appreciated, as we want to go prepared & not run around once in Spain trying to solve the problem

Why do you think you will run out of Calor? Assuming you are staying on sites with electricity and going no earlier than May and no later than September, I will be surprised if you even use 6kg of gas. We were away 9 weeks in Spain /France 2 years ago and I don't remember breaking into the spare bottle.

Hi
You can procure an adaptor similar to the photo that AD has posted in this country. A good firm is gaslow direct, they are around £15 and connect to a Spanish bottle and your bulkhead regulator. Alternatively they are readily available in hardware shops and larger supermarkets in Spain. Just look out for "regulado salida libre" which means regulator with free exit. They are around 10 euros.
Spanish gas is cheap, a Repsol 11kg is around 10.50 euro exchange. Most sites electric hookups are metered so it can prove a lot cheaper to mainly use gas.
Hope this helps

Hi
What you need is called a Regulador de salida libre in Spanish and if you go into the local Ferreteria ( DIY shop) they will supply you with this regulator and the pig tail that will fit onto your fixed regulator, this is actually a fake regulator thatt allows the gas to flow though this devise and through your fixed regulator both for around 23 euros i know this because i had to replace mine lost in the floods last year and i brought both in Benicassim three weeks ago. They wiil also the gas but it can be a lot cheaper buying from the roundsman gas here at the moment is around 13/14 euros from him the last time i brought one a month ago.

We bought a Repsol gas bottle and adaptor off Ebay for £25. We then bought a two metre gas hose with the right connectors from Gaslow. Worked fine and exchange bottle less than 11 euros. We didn't need to change anything on our caravan.
Gas bottles can be found for sale at flee markets in Spain.
