Do pitch fees include one or two adults?

Hi everyone, I'm confused and I'm hoping for clarification. We've recently rejoined the club so I aren't up to date with pricing. I'm trying to book a pitch for late 2021 and there seems to be an added cost for my wife to stay. I thought the pitch fee included caravan, one car, and two adults.

Do I have to pay extra for the second adult staying on the pitch?

Pitch fees are first the pitch price, depending on what type of pitch, then followed by each adult price per adult

If you were on your own, as quite a few members are, it would be unfair the way you are looking at it hence the  per adult prices

until fairly recently pitch fees included 2 adults but it now seems the club found a new way to add another few quid on the Q T & to show a lower head line price.

Not sure what your definition of "fairly recently" ED, but as far back as I can remember it's been pitch + number of adults?  undecided

It depends If you are trying to book a Club site or a CL. As JVB says the cost to stay on a club site is made up of a pitch fee and another depending on the number of people in the unit. If you stay on a CL the price quoted is for the pitch plus at least 2 adults. There may be an additional charge for extra adults/children and if you want to erect an awning, for which there is no charge on club sites.

... and that number has been 2 until 'fairly recently' .... but the club now have a headline price that includes just 1 adult.

    In very small print near the headline price there is a note saying;

    'Price based on:
    Club member
    Pitch + 1 adult'

I'm not really sure what is means either.  Is it one club member i.e. the person that paid the membership fee, plus the pitch, plus another adult?

No it's been pitch price and per adult and child since I joined, and this has been used to arrive at the final price which is what the OP is asking - the final price.

I think you may be thinking about the 'from' price, this did change a few years ago, but that is a different thing from what is being asked.

That was the "from" prices ,it has been amended in the latest Handbook

probably because of the negative feed back the club have recieved since it was first "advertised?" when the last handbook was published

Ps has any one noticed the picture of Bunree site and where the  blue non awning peg is compared to how the motor caravan and canopy are pitchedcoolwink

If you look on the breakdown given when one books, it has pitch fee then a price for each adult and child. This is my booking for just the two of us.

Well, I stand to be corrected, but how far back is your "fairly recently"? It may be since I stopped being a member but I'd call that "extremely recently"! wink

This is exactly what the OP was asking. However you want to dress it up, the headline price went up by the price of an adult per night, which is basically what the OP is saying ie he needs to add an adult/his wife to the price shown.

Price for a night’s stay on a Club Site has been a Pitch Fee, plus a price per adult and a price per child for a very long time. So the number of persons staying gives the overall price, plus the pitch fee, per night.

The “price from” enticement in the handbook and on each webpage is just that, a marketing tool attempting to show what good value Club Sites are......or not as the case may be.

OP just needs to read the pricing information carefully. There isn’t anything confusing about it really, just wishful thinking😁

No the OP is asking what the pricing structure is and how to arrive at the final price, in my view anyway.

I don't want to dress it up in any way at all.

I learnt very young in life that I never got the 'from' price whatever I was buying. I think the headline price is a waste of ink and basing it on the very cheapest price is misleading and I would rather the club and others used a more representative figure.

But yes while the price information is easy to understand, I never use it and just look at the final price before pressing confirm booking.

the price to stay on a club is price per pitch & price per adult & child, but it's obvious that the OP is looking at the headline price shown on the website and assuming it includes what it used to include ie 2 adults.

You keep saying it "used to" include 2 adults until "fairly recently", ED, but I really can't remember a time when it was that.  Can you be more specific? (That's a genuine question because I'm sure it wasn't at any time in my membership - but I'm more than happy to be proved wrong!)

“Price from” is entirely different to the actual price per night.

As you say, the “price from” was based upon two in occupancy, then last handbook roll out it had changed to one in occupancy. I would deduce that given some of the Site pricing, it was the best way to make the prices look attractive, even if it was only for one or two nights per year for solo tourers😂

To arrive at an actual (true) price per night, there are a number of variables to consider. It’s the classic who, what, where and when pricing strategy. Used quite widely in transport and hospitality. The wise buyer looks at the small print.👍

Ah, I think I understand now! wink

Odd thing is, I never, ever referred to or even used the "price from" figure.  Certainly when online booking was introduced I just put in our details and the dates we wanted and if the final figure was OK,  booked it.

Thanks very much for all your advice and information. I wasn't criticising the price or the pricing structure. I just wanted to confirm that I had the information correct. I was concerned that if I had it wrong I'd be paying for the second person when they might have been included in the price. It's now clear I have to add the bride onto the booking and that becomes the final price. TBH it's still a good price anyway.

I wonder if there are plans to create a 'couples' or 'family' membership.

Thanks again for all your input, greatly appreciated.

Obfuscation is the name of the game. Why should I have to waste so much of my valuable time to discover that the price is more than I am prepared to pay for a product. As I posted elsewhere on the forum, if confronted with a rail of clothes in M&S with a tag on the rail stating that the price was "from", how likely would you be to select something, try it on in the fitting room, take it to the checkout and discover that it was more than you are prepared to pay?
