The headline price, not the actual charge. See above.

Can see you have given that due consideration-about 15 months.

Talking about two separate things here. One is an attempt at Marketing, ie Club putting up the cheapest possible “from” price it can for each Club Site. This used to be based on a pitch fee, and two persons staying. As prices have gone up, that tempting offer dwindled in eye catching opportunity, so the Club opted to show the “from” price as pitch fee plus one person staying. That price might only be available for a couple of days in the depths of Winter, but hey, that’s how Marketing works😉

The reality is you will always pay a pitch fee (which may change based on time of year, or any MWD offer) and then anything else will be based on number of persons staying, any other choices such as SP.

There are a few budget Sites, for example Nunnykirk, where it’s a fixed price all season for pitch and at least two occupants (could be more, I haven’t checked)

The Club’s pricing policy is somewhat complicated in terms of end user satisfaction, and appears to be trying to extract as much income as possible at times. Every couple of days might change at some Sites.🤷‍♀️ It’s so complicated, the handbook doesn’t include prices nowadays, it would be double thickness. All online, and even then the Club can and will, as it has done this last month, change the advertised prices.

    Hi JK

I concur with your comment. As a single tourer I find the site fees are quite reasonable on many CMHC sites and due to brexit, Covid and now Putin's truly dreadful war against Ukraine, site fees were always going to go up and  I envisage that they are going to go up on most private sites and CLs as well.

If I consider that a site charges too much then I would simply go elsewhere.  In my view, the  "price from" guide on each page in the directory is simply an indication as to whether that site is cheaper or more expensive than other sites and I know that it is not until I go through the procedure to book online that the full price will be shown and I can then decide whether to go ahead or not.

If you are going to quote a "From" price, then by definition, this will, or should be, always the cheapest fee available (unless further defined as "for two adults" or some such).

I make no comment about the rights or wrongs of quoting a "From" price; you're right of course that this is a marketing trick, but I think most people are fully aware of it and know that only a small number of customers would benefit from it.

If you are right that the "from" price used to be for the pitch and two adults then this was (a) Incorrect and it is right to correct it and (b) probably due to the fact that most customers were couples. Maybe with an increase in single caravaners they chose to change this.

In any event, it doesn't matter; the "from" price is mostly irrelevant.

If you double the "from" price it will probably be a bit nearer the actual 'minimum' you will pay.

Yes, it was never correct to give “from” as pitch +2. Clearly, pitch+1 will be cheaper. More likely the use was your b).

I do however disagree with your paragraph that most people will be aware of this, maybe most Members. The unwary being lured into joining might not be quite so clued up. It always pays to dig a bit deeper before parting with one’s cash😉😁

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall it was the addition of EHU in the mid 1990’s that gave rise to the pitch price+ occupants. I am sure we only used to pay a set fee per night at Marazion prior to this. 🤔 Someone will recall better than me no doubt.
