Are my eyes deceiving me or did these vouchers used to be £21.95. They are now showing on sale at £19.95

Hi Harry, shows how some things pass you by and yes, they were £21.95.

If I get my usual 4 vouchers I can put the £8 saving toward all the other suggested increases we may face if we go abroad next year.

    So what is the reason?

It does seem strange that the club haven't made an announcement, they usually make a big fuss if the have an offer that makes them sound goody goody.

Looking at the replies gives a certain amount of suspicion. It's not VAT that would have made the price £19.20  AD a possibility, although the expiry is Dec 2022. As for Brexit, nobody knows what implications that may bring, or do they.

Perhaps the club may offer an announcement to clear up why this seems so secretive.

Unless either the EU ar UK "roll over" there is little chance of a deal being struck ,so it will be a "nobody knows" the effect

Even some German press are saying it will not be the UKs fault if there is no deal,as the "other parties" are making it as difficult as possible ,to deter others from taking the same coursesurprised

The figure I quoted was £19.20 which was wrong. With a VAT reduction the price should have been £17.46. Which looking at it that way is more or less equal to that of the top ACSI of €20

And maybe that is why the club are not selling the ACSI book next year (earlier post)

The new reduced price of £19.95 is valid now and lasts until Dec 2022

Minus 12.5% on the price which equals a vat rate of 5% instead of 20%

With a motorhome I have never been able to get a better ferry deal by having vouchers or booking sites but I used to with Camping Cheques.

    Mike

I wonder if that is down to the caravan element of the booking being discounted? One would hope the Club, given the increase in motorhomers in the membership would push for better deals for motorhomes?

DO I think you are right. A friend with car and caravan always gets a lower price than me on same crossing.

That's usually the case with ferries but if you go via the tunnel then MH's are usually cheaper than car and caravan.

We have a booking for car and caravan for next year £170 one way if using the MH it would be £97.

Hi AD, TG et al, first thing is that the club website does have the info re deals, albeit not always easy to find, and that will show that on certain crossings, typically BF, caravans go free.

So if I travel with my MH buddy I am paying fir a 5x1.8m car and he is pay for a 8x3m MH.
    Guess which is more?!

Consequently we usually  meeting up ‘over there’. He has found the Newhaven route to be the best value in recent years.

So far as site vouchers, and the now defunct Camping Cheques, are concerned they are, for me, simply a way to access the very significant savings on the ferry fare.

I have always used them and see the difference in price, if any, on the 4 that I must buy to get the combined fare, a minute price to pay.

Typically I save £300 plus and may payout from £0 to £20 more at voucher sites.

As David says, if your tow car is lower than the van, but more than a standard car, use the max height of 1.8m given for a standard car or you may be charged two height supplements.

All we need now is the chance to go!
