Yes, I heard that and thought it very sensible.

Not really.  Reading the guidance to the content of an as yet unpublished Bill seems a bit pointless.  You definitely stated the law and I was interested to read what you have seen.

We know it has been passed in the House and police have said they are now empowered to deal with occupants of second homes. That’s good enough for most of us I think.

This lockdown is nothing like the one imposed in March. I have just made a routine trip to a hospital and there are loads of people about. During the previous lockdown the roads were very very quiet, a total contrast to the traffic experienced today.

My impression is not many are taking it seriously.

It would be the same for me.

I am interested to be aware of advice and requests but also want to know what laws are put into place

For Travel in England it says that you can travel to buy goods or services from premises that are open, including essential retail.

Not what i am seeing here, very quiet in the village this morning, no queue at the butchers or greengrocers, and although lots of people out walking this afternoon, weather gorgeous, everybody being very careful re SD, but I do live in an area of predominantly older peoplelaughing

well this is from the Gov.uk website, I'm pretty sure what they print is correct and to be followed?

    12. Staying away from home overnight
Overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences will not be allowed- including holidays in the UK and abroad. This includes staying in a second home or caravan, if you own one, or staying with anyone you do not live with or are in a support bubble with

Perhaps one can "flip" one's  main residence like MP's do.

For tax purposes you normally nominate your main residence, for capital gains tax etc.

In reality EasyT the Bill was passed in March.  That is when the Government took the powers they thought they would need to deal with the pandemic.

All these changes are enabled through those emergency powers which last until March 2022.  I'm not aware of any new Bill but stand ready to be corrected.

What we normally see is the guidance to these changes but of course all the changes are enacted by amendments to the original Bill.  It could be those that are being thought of as new Bill/Law and which I would prefer to read rather than the guidance.

I have recently come across a situation where one spouse owns one residence and the other another.  In a situation like that which is the second home if either and in which one should lockdown take place?

    A bit of light relief.

Signs have been erected in Spain exhorting the locals to change their habits as restaurants and cafes must close by 10 pm.

"Dear English People. We will accept socks worn with sandals if you teach us how to eat at 8pm"smile

Never got used to eating at 10 pm in Spain. Bit difficult when you are snoring into your Paella.

The Stautory Instrument is now published on the Gov.Uk website.

    Regulations 5 and 6 refer.

    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/1200/pdfs/uksi_20201200_en.pdf

    Restrictions on leaving home
5.—(1) No person may leave or be outside of the place where they are living without reasonable.
    excuse.

So if on the date the law was passed a person was living in address A, then they are not allowed to move to address B because that is not in the list of ‘reasonable excuse’

More Covid madness. Is this 2nd Lockdown really necessary ? I ask the question because I have just heard on the lunchtime news that figures published today by the Office for National Statistics suggest that the country's outbreak shrunk last week, with the number of people catching the virus each day 12 per cent lower than the week before. Was the tiered approach adopted by the government already working, but not given enough time for the results to show. Only time will tell.

     6. (2) (h).  One spouse could travel home to the property they own and the other could visit.  Just a suggestion of course.  Not advocating it should be done.

Not sure that it applies everywhere though Compo.

We'll be coming out of Local lockdown restrictions followed by a National one here in Wales on Monday morning. Methyr Tydfil now has the highest infection rate in the UK and is still rising. Yet according to the FM of Wales they will face no harsher restrictions than anyone else in Wales on Monday. Now that seems like madness to me. Hope they come up with a plan.

That was £11000 well spent. !!! Manchester University paid £11000 to have barriers put up around a campus presumably to stop students and others from leaving or entering due to covid, but then were forced to take it down again just hours later when the students demonstrated against it. The students pay £9000 to be treated like this. The country has gone covid mad.
