We have a difficult situation to get over on Saturday. Our daughter is moving into an unfurnished flat in Devizes on Saturday. Her bed (and one or two other things are here at home.) Without a bed, she's sleeping on the floor for a month. The lockdown rules say... "You can still move home. People outside your household or support bubble should not help with moving house unless absolutely necessary." I think we are going to have to argue that sleeping on a bed is a necessity...
Providing we drop the stuff off outside the flat, and turn around and come straight home, I guess we'll be doing all we can.... (she doesn't drive, by the way... )

What lockdown?out with Rosa this morning did not notice any less traffic on the roads , A1 sounded just as loud in the distance.
Caravan now back in Storage not expecting to be out again this year? although for now HMG have only legally got untill 2nd Dec ,

We have friends who are due to move during the lockdown, their family were lined up to help on arrival, they are moving closer to one of their sons. I think if will be similar to you but it will involve a quick check of anything that doesn't work, boilers etc. My friend's husband is less fit than he used to be.
Hope your daughter settles in well.

The restrictions in this lockdown are a lot less severe than in the first lockdown and therefore it follows are less likely to be as effective (the first lockdown was only successful for a few months) and therefore it follows that it could well be that this lockdown will need to be extended. The problem is, even this less severe lockdown is likely to further damage the economy. The BOE is already having to pump an extra £150 billion into the economy. Where will it end.

I would hope that the lockdown will slow the rate of infection. The present situation will peak in a couple of weeks and we'll know if lockdown is working if it starts to slow up after that.
Both of our local hospitals, more than twenty miles apart have banned visitors. The situation is getting difficult even in more rural areas.

I was pleased to hear that Devon & Cornwall Police have said they will investigate every report of second home occupancy as they now have the power of enforcement. I hope that deters people from travelling here and that the Police have the manpower to cope.

I thought that regarding Wales the ins and outs were all but banned
.It seems to me that in the broadest terms the Government has learnt from experience and knowledge gathered. The rules now just try to inhibit unnecessary gatherings of people in environments where CV19 can readily spread. At the same time some of the economy can continue.

Dont knock it yet give it avchance. There was little alternative. Strict enforcement will be the key. Here in Wales traffic is much less. Havnt been to the shops so cant comment. We know a lot of second homers went home yesterday. Good. If you can get the data for infections/deaths etc for Gwynedd you will see an encouraging trend. I agree its early days but it seems lockdown is working. Add in the POSSIBILITY of a vaccine by the year end and there is a glimmer of hope.

I have just looked at what one can and cannot do in this latest lockdown in England , it seem far more leniant than last time in regards exercise, as it seems you now do not need a canine friend to take essential walking exercise and can drive within reason for such , Also all NT gardens open spaces are open as are thier cafes for takeaway food &drink

The important one for me is I can still visit national trust properties at the moment for exercise.
The other obvious ones is schools, colleges etc. Selling houses, workmen being allowed to go to work etc.

I could Brue but, from what I have seen in passing, there did not seem to be major differences of consequence. Maybe I am wrong - probably I am it seems. I asked because I assumed Compo could have simplified it with a few clues.

I see that click and collect was not previously available until May. Cannot say that I was aware of this as I have only used Click and collect more recently. I knew some(?) public toilets were closed but did not know the extent. Similarly many essential health provision such as dental and optical were closed except in emergency.
The main change that I see having a possible detrimental effect is educational establishments being open.

Agree 100% with that.
We had planned to come down let week to get our van set up for winter, but decided it was more sensible to stay put even though it would have been allowed up to yesterday. We know the neighbours will keep their eyes open for us and that must surely be the case with all "second homes" - if not neighbours, then letting agents etc. There will be absolutely no excuse for anyone travelling down claiming it's for "maintenance purposes" as some did last time.

Most of those changes, for me seem sensible. Must admit that I have visited a public toilet only once. When I went to take grandson to hospital I knew that after an hours drive I had better access a toilet as it would be another 5 hours before I had easy availability. I called at an Asda rather than enter daughters home.

There will be no Tier system in Wales from next Monday. The new rules are countrywide. Still no travel in or out of Wales except for a few exceptions.. That will not include the peop le who travelled 320 miles to see a horse in Cerdigion!! It really cost them.

Judging by the mass exodus from London and the surrounding area yesterday it may well be too late and if the police subsequently investigate and find an illegal what are they going to do, send them home ? Thankfully we do not have a holiday homes problem on our doorstep but i bet many in places such as Dorset are occupied.

Geez we get nothing from the LA’s now. If the Govt cut more to em to save for Covid then the LA’s will increase local tax🤷🏻♂️☹️. Rock & a hard place🤷🏻♂️
