I have online shopped all the way through the pandemic, always managed to get a slot (in fact have just booked one for three weeks time with no difficulty whatsoever). It’s safer for me, it’s safer for my family, and I am one less that supermarket staff have to deal with. We have visited a few well chosen small shops to top up on fresh goods, but always in a mask, and if I think the shop looks too busy, or appears to have too many folks not in masks, we walk away, go elsewhere. I don’t expect shop staff to police the mask thing, and hope that the majority of folks who go in use masks and respect both the staff and other users. Likewise, I wouldn’t dream of asking anyone why they don’t have a mask on, but I do strongly suspect too many are pushing the boundaries. I am sick of seeing fools with masks half on and half off though, either that are there’s a shortage of styles for those with noses that are too big😉

I still sanitise my basket/trolley on entering, and still either store bought goods away if I don’t need to use them, or wipe things down before putting them in fridge. I always thank the delivery staff who drop off our shopping, and others like GP’s, surgery staff, pharmacy staff, etc....

Thats me......keeping myself, my family and my community as safe as I can. It’s no big deal, I get on with it.

    Evening Everybody  wink

TtDA, you will find yours truly merrily shopping in small shops, large shops and supermarkets as my requirements demand BUT  I wear my mask, sanitise hands and trolley both coming and going ! Only problem with Masks is not my nose ( honest embarassed )  but the blooming beard !!  Even after my recent haircut I trimmed the face fuzz  but the masks keep riding up ( standard cheepo version Pale Blue & paler blue almost white )

Certainly today in ASDA Crewe most stuff available bar for a rather poorly stocked toilet/kitchen tissue section ~~ would have thought by now folks had realised that C19 does not give one that  problem sealed !!

Rufs, one does not need to sneeze or cough -- there are other less subtle methods of keeping a clear space around oneself.

No, I don't; I haven't noticed a huge number of folk shopping without masks and I don't judge, I prefer to believe the vast majority of folk do what they know to be the right thing.

Trouble starts when folk get judgemental about what others are doing,  whether it be wearing masks or not, on line shopping or, as you've found out yourself, driving family members around.

Best to concentrate on keeping oneself and others around as safe as possible and not dwell on what others are up to I think.

I notice folks not wearing masks in shops and principally because it is so rare around here. The few I do see seem frail.

I have found that a gently spoken 'GET BACK' works well laughing

Well maybe not that gently spoken wink

To much information.  Quite unnecessary laughing.  Also are you able to take dogs especially smelly ones into shops?

Facial fuzz can be a problem😁 It’s not particularly a problem for me😂 thankfully, but OH sometimes has a moan. You do what’s safe for you AbM, and what keeps you happy as well👍

I learned long ago as a youngster what stops those who seek to invade your personal space. (We used to call them @rse nippers at work) Stepping back suddenly in stilettos onto unwary toes cured a few😂 That and a sudden elbow in the ribs......

Probably, but maybe you do have elbows😁 I haven’t worn heels for years, doubt I could walk in them now.

Funny how you remember school stuff. I went to an all girls school, so the topic of repelling unwanted advances and how to deal with them was a lunchtime topic occasionally. We had some really nasty ideas, but then we did have the Yorkshire Ripper on the go at the time.😱

Had to chuckle yesterday in Co op. We had both gone in to get one or two items, got chatting to lady on till, and OH forgot to put pizzas under screen. We nearly walked off, but till operator said that she had our masks on CCTV🤣Duh.....

I read our local town's fireworks display has been brought forward to tonight..£25 and stay in your car to watch it! (If you can actually see anything from inside the car?! 🎆) Is that a candidate for covid madness. wink

Absolutly yes, and a few eye brows might be raised when i take him to the butchers tomorrow to get the weekend meat, sob sob story, OH in Tring looking after MIL,  but have to say, generally no, and agree with that, but if you train your dog to sit and wait outside shops it is not a problem, he normally gets lots of cuddles and in some cases tit bits.

P.S. maybe give him a spray with some Febreeze laughing

It’s been the quietest run up to bonfire night for years here, thankfully. Long may it continue.

Yes, we've got lots going off tonight, thankfully not the usual 2 week run up and hopefully, apart from tomorrow, things will stay quiet.

Interestingly, Lady who usually gets frantic when the fireworks start seems not to have noticed, maybe because Ralph doesn't seem disturbed by them - the usual male calming influence!  laughing

Yup tend to agree, and great for Fido, but i do feel kids just now are missing out on so much, we used to spend weeks building a bonfire and guarding it against maurding gangs, all in good fun of course, roasted tatties in the embers, big selection boxes of fireworks, Oh! the joys, laughing

My OH was Fire Service. He saw too much of the bad side of it. I’d be happy never to see or hear a firework again, other than a big controlled display. I just hope that cancelling big events doesn’t drive up the accidents in small garden events, that would be awful.

I wear a lanyard and or pin badge depending on where I am.

Lanyard available from supermarkets for free on production of your disability registration card.

Makes life so much easier in these days of the poorly educated who can't see beyond what they think they see, but don't know.

The below image is in my signature on my work email.

I wear a mask when out and about.

Covid madness. Traffic jams all across London with motorists trying to get out of the city before lockdown begins. I wonder where they are all heading. Could it be that they don't believe the lockdown will end on 2nd December and are already going home for Christmas.

Perhaps people don't want to be labeled but the Sunflower design really stands out and I have seen several people wearing them. Whilst it may not be important what other people think I imagine it would be helpful, but as I say up to the individual.

I thought lockdowns were meant to stop people travelling about the country spreading the disease. Seems like it has the opposite effect.

In the modern workplace lanyards are used in so many ways. Staff, visitor, access to certain areas, rainbow for diversity and inclusion champions, vulnerable people returning to the office during COVID etc

Introduced at Gatwick airport for staff to offer assistance to passengers. Rolled out across airports and since COVID on the rail network particularly to assist with mask wearing.

Yes it is a choice to wear the sunflower. But it is also a right not to be discriminated against on the grounds of disability that unfortunately, is all too common. From personal experience it has been a benefit to me and a change after over 20 years of being abused by the poorly educated who can't think beyond what they think they see, or miss why I might not respond to their hostility in shouting or shoving me out of their way because I can't hear them. It's a bit wearing to be referred to as ignorant, especially at work. I guess until you experience that, it is difficult to understand or notice others have different needs.

It is very important what others think, if they discriminate due to their lack of education that is a lacking in their cerebral capacity. We are not born with discrimination, it is taught.

The sunflower has started the communication that in my case I need to be in a certain position at a table, be approached from one side. Mostly colleagues have been shocked at how they have given little consideration to others who may not be the same as they, and are very supportive. Other examples are special chairs for muscular skeletal conditions like CF / MS / ME, being located in close proximity to facilities etc

It is the 21st century we live in.

    Sky news 15 hrs ago

A further 25,177 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the UK and another 492 have died after contracting the virus, according to the latest government data.

Highest death rate since May, I know these were before National lock down but I can perhaps understand why the government had to take more drastic action than just doing regional lock down undecidedbut at least they tried
