Sites in Tier 3

I hope you have a nice trip.
If you and 100000 others take your approach and visit other areas then approx 500 new people will get covid.
A couple will probably die and a whole new cluster of tier 3s will be created.
Every one of the 280 who died today did so because someone somewhere took a trip.
Enjoy.

With respect you don't know that.
We all have to do what is right for us.
Its been said and proved that most transmissions come from households mixing.
Pitches on site have a minimum of 3mtrs between them. We are outdoors not inside, use your own facilities and follow the other guidelines.

I have to agree. Both my wife and I are currently suffering from a coronavirus; not CV19 a common cold, we think and hope. These were caught despite all the precautions we have both taken against catching CV19. That the cold "bug" got past these only goes to prove just how easy catching a virus can be. We are pretty certain that it was caught during a carefully socially distanced meeting/meal with friends in a well organised pub restaurant. Lesson learned.

With respect I do. The government publishes the figures every day. I agree that it is an extrapolation of the infection numbers but if 100000 travel then 500 will be diseased and will infect 500 others, on average. Fact.
All doing what is 'right for us' is why this disease has perpetuated. There are times when we have to what is right, not what we want, this is one of those times.
'Transmissions come from households mixing', yes I totally agree. The 100000 are now mixing with other households. What might happen there then, oh yes they will infect the others at the predicted rate.
Just read the covid madness thread. People on sites are not keeping separation, sanitizing, or taking basic precautions. You may, but out of the other 100000 travelling this weekend many wont, probably enough to infect 500 people according to government statistics.

Possibly is although the vector paths for covid is still not understood.
Either way I can assure you that out of my selected group enough will meet in vans, awnings, washrooms, pubs, restaurants to meet the target (with an R number of <1) of 500 new infections from 100000 travelers.

Yes but the issue is that the virus is not a cognitive being, it doesn't know the difference of being at home or in a caravan.
It will infect you wherever you are.
most infections happen in he home because that is where most people spend most time. By a huge margin.

Surely the main defence against Covid is social distancing. If a couple go away in their van to a site and keep themselves to themselves, why are the risks any greater than staying at home and going out for a walk from there.
If they go away and mix with others clearly there is a risk. Just as there would be if they stayed at home and had friends / family round.
Its all about how you conduct yourself, not where you happen to be spending the night, as long as you stick within your allowed zones.

Spot on, Steve.

The only additional precautions we will take above what we have been doing for weeks when at home is a good stock of Anti viral wipes for use on service points and disabled facilites ,as our shower in the van is not big enough for me to assist OH as she has got more unstable

Most analysts believe that the greatest source of infection is meeting others in the home there has been no visitors in my home since January when I gave our window cleaner a lift to the funeral of my neighbour and there would not be in the caravan.

But only if they spend time with someone who is infected! A Caravan or LV is its own self contained unit, so if I don't come into contact with an infected person then it's no different from my home.
Edit - Looks like I was typing at the same time as Steve.

We arrived separately and sanitised on entry. We sat at a large table about 2m apart. We paid separately; split the bill 50/50. Put a mask on if we rose from the table for whatever reason. We even had masks on when the masked waiter came to our table. Sanitized on exit. Frankly we were very careful. Of course we cannot be sure that it was caught at that time, but on the three days to come, three days here, and three days to go principle it more or less works.

Yes they are a huge risk.
A virus needs a vector, it has to get to get to other people or it dies.
Stay at home and observe correct social distancing and the chance of spreading the virus is zero.
Travel and you give the virus a vector to infect other people in another area thus spreading it.
Don't have friends around, this is a really bad idea, its been on the telly a bit lately. It kills people.
Its nothing to do with how you conduct yourself.
it normalises travel which causes infection and death.
It opens you up to infection from those who do not conduct themselves correctly.
It allows you to then bring infection back from your travels and infect those friends you have around.
Please try to understand or we will not get out of this unholy mess.

The in home high rates of infection ,as suggested, is where there seems to be larger families ,not the homes of what it seems are the age groups of those who post on here, or as some post the demographic of cc members and who some say are just curtain twitchers

Your last to sentences are what I was referring to when I said you don't know that.
The way I see it 'someone' will become sick or worse die because 'someone' somewhere didn't follow the rules, not because 'someone' went on a trip.
We have been out and about with our caravan since lockdown finished. We have followed all the rules as have just about all the folk we have seen on sites. We ALL have to take responsibility for our actions, if we were unfortunate and caught the virus I wouldn't blame 'someone' else. It would be because 'we' did not follow the rules in some way.
IMO, going shopping or going out for a meal/drink brings more risk of catching the virus as you are indoors.
When we are away in the caravan we keep ourselves to ourselves, yes we do talk to others but from a distance. We walk, cycle take a drive in the car. What we don't do is go to pubs, eat out or go to shopping malls to browse and past time. Its doing this type of socialising that is spreading the virus along with households mixing.

About 9ft (my guess) but the pub had done the measuring and marked up and laid out the positions that could be used; no different from two tables correctly positioned for distance, as others were. The only thing I did not like was having to raise our voices to converse. Of course this interrogation is just a distraction. My point was/is that we took reasonable precautions and still got caught out despite best efforts.
