On the point of the club paying out for loyalty they have taken a huge financial hit due to Covid this year, last year they lost travel income because of Brexit fears which will be compounded on the next accounts. It might be better to let them encourage new members and income rather than decrease income via pay outs to the present "loyal" membership.

All money that members and other parts etc of the cc as also the ccc is reinvested in club facilities for the benefit of members
Not actually true, as quite large amount of the clubs' income goes on wages, expenses, tax, national insurance etc for those employed by the clubs and advertising of course.

An incentive to get non-members to join must surely be much the same as a loyalty bonus to existing members not to leave?

We've not had a MH long but in our experience on CC sites, there seems to be the full spectrum of MH use. Those that only stay a night, those that put up a MH using this pitch sign and go out for the day. Those that stay for 2 / 3 days like ourselves. Plus those that stay longer term. If the prevalence of awnings means anything, these were in fairly high numbers this September. I've, never noticed such high numbers before, so assumed it was a function of a different demographic to a normal September.
The good thing is that the CC caters for all types of stay. Not something that can be said for every supplier. Well worth our annual subscription. The wording on the T&C's for the introductory offer list quiet a few exclusions and seem to imply it has to be used on your first ever site night. That's unless it hadn't arrived, where it says it can be used on your next stay. So perhaps not possible to keep for a peak night.☹️

I too seriously considered not renewing my membership last year and this year. All I have received a few years ago is a sticker for 35 years m/s and I am considering just paying the non member fee and using my C&CC m/s , at least there I get a age concession My nights on sites are limited nowadays. Sad but I miss the old days ie ( GET UP AND GO) not poss with the arrival of the motorhomes, (noting against M/H no its hard to get a lengthly stay on site, M/H stay one or two nights and move on My caravanning is mostly in North of Scotland. end of rant!!!

A couple of years ago, circumstances meant we were looking for a long stay in peak period at short notice. We managed to find a few sites that still had availability. Not our first choice admittedly, but they were available. This year of course it's been different, indeed several sites in the north of Scotland didn't even open.
Personally I don't think your problem has anything to do with the increasing prevalence of MH's, more a function of site popularity and lack of planning on your part. As folk are free to come and go on any day, you are bound to end up with odd isolated days as they approach capacity. Perhaps why some commercial sites only allow calendar week bookings at peak times.
One of the big pluses of this club is the ability to book 12 months in advance (currently longer) with no deposit required. That to me is far superior to any loyalty bonus and preferable to an age related discount in my opinion.

Surely they should be rewarding their current members ?
When the pandemic first started the club offered current members the opportunity to buy £2400 worth of club vouchers for £2000. Surely that was an incentive for current members. The only problem now is getting the opportunity to spend them, but still better to have £2000 invested in club vouchers than in the bank, especially if they are not date limited.

20% interest?, it beats the banks .5%👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

ED, if they are open ended without a sell by date then it is just a case of when & not if. . .jobs a gud un👍🏻.
PS-I can’t imagine them having a short shelf life or the C&MC would be classed as opportunists at the least🤔

You might recall the Club issued two sets of vouchers Rocky, one undated, one with use by dates......... Those with undated will be fine. Those with dated ones, might need to get their thinking caps on.....this virus is set to run for a good while yet I fear. Although I think they were dated to next December, 2021. So at least if Sites get back up and running full throttle Mid March 2021, it might just give 6-7 months of options. 🤞

Actually I have considered switching to M/H, price puts me off, if you can't fight them join them, joke!! The days of GET UP AND GO meant you didn't need to book in advance ie if on east coast weather turns bad move to west coast. In those days you could do that. Caravaning in north of Scotland has become rather difficult with the popularity of North Coast 500 as one example. Another was the freedom to roam without commitment to a set holiday booked 12 months previous. Sad I suspect those days are gone.

The days of not needing to book vanished years ago, TF, long before MHs became so popular.
I'm afraid Scottish tourism opened a whole can of worms by promoting the NC500 with the result that a lot of what folk go there for has been spoilt. We transited en route to the Northern Isles last year and I was shocked at the numbers 'doing' the NC500. I’m glad we toured that area quite extensively before it became popular.

I’m surprised you didn’t know ED🤔🤷🏻♂️.
PS-thanks for putting both of us right TDA👍🏻

Yes, I think you are right Goldie. The special offer vouchers were only on sale for a limited time frame. They were a Marketing opportunity that gave Members quite a good deal if they used Club Sites primarily, and of course generated much needed income for the Club at a time when it was imperative that they kept Members on board. Early signees got the none time limited vouchers, I think later vouchers do have a timed date, but not sure what it is.

S’ok Rocky, at the time I watched avidly what the Club was up to in terms of income generation. (You can take the girl out of Marketing, but not her marketing out of the girl,😁) Quite impressive offer for those who use Club Sites, the open ended offer. Not of interest really for likes of us who seldom venture onto a Club Site, we’ed still have unused vouchers in a decade’s time😂
However....... factor in that some Club Sites didn’t open all year, that the vast majority close down by early November until March, that this pesky virus is going to be long haul, that getting Sites back up and running next March is a gamble, and then finally, the Club changing the rules and putting a use by date on some vouchers, and you need to consider carefully if it’s for you. As I say, great if Club Sites are your first choice and for a long stay, (some folks might have used all their vouchers by now) but not if you like a really big choice of Club Sites, watch the pennies in terms of price per night anyway, and don’t tour through the colder months. When the Sites are allowed to open of course......
I hope it’s worked out well for those who bought big👍

I just wonder how one would judge loyalty? Would it be length of membership or would be be by how much members spend on Club sites? In the commercial world loyalty schemes reward the amount of money you spend. If it was on length of membership what would people expect, a site voucher after each ten years? I can just see someone having achieved 30 membership getting a site voucher commenting that it wasn't generous enough. There are some members who make a massive use of Club sites throughout the year and yet the average is 6.85 nights per member according to the AGM information. That figure could be skewed by the use of CL's which would be very difficult to monitor from a reward scheme point of view.
Perhaps best for the Club to work with Partners to get good discounts on attractions and other benefits which all members can make use of?

As far as supermarkets are concerned, it is the lack of money that you spend. In normal times we used all the supermarkets dependent on who had sent us money off vouchers. We only tended to get them when we had not been for a while. It was fairly rare for us not to have one worth 10 or 15% off spending a certain amount, from either Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons or Waitrose.

The point I am making is that reward schemes are different to what you are referring to. We shop online at Waitrose every week and don't get any vouchers. What we do get is rewards for shopping there using our Partnership Card which over a year amount to quite a lot of money. I took the reference to the Club rewarding loyalty as meaning that regular users of Club services/sites don't get rewards which is more in keeping with rewarding ongoing loyalty rather than as a lost leader to encourage you to spend in a supermarket that you have not visited recently. I think they are two different things?

Having been regular visitor to Altnaharra over the years last year was my last and I see it didn't open at all this year. I watched from the non elect pitches at the bridge two m/h cram onto the tourist info board park to park free overnight. must be all of 30 feet from site and water tap which they filled up during the night. At least one of the vans left the contents of their toilet behind in drain leading to under bridge. I would say the were hired vans and would be confident not real M/H ers This is an open site and I would suspect its had a few unauthorised visitors this year. Hope its open next year have booked it anyway.

Spot on DK. The odd pound off here and there doesn’t amount to a great deal, but if you are part of a Reward scheme, then you can often access some very very good savings. Tesco Club card springs to mind. Every time you shop, you tot up a few pennies to spend in the stores. But access the Tesco Rewards and it’s partners and you can/could quadruple your savings. We saved our vouchers and did a weekend at a couple of London attractions for nothing. Ordinarily it would have cost us £200, but we used £50 worth of vouchers instead. Not quite as generous a scheme as it used to be, but still very good. Same with Club. Use some of their offers, and you easily cover annual membership. Club seems to be majoring more on family type Go Ape attractions etc.... nowadays, but there’s still something for most folks, even if it’s only 10% off at Mountain Warehouse!😁
