Loyalty not rewarded

I'll give you an example of loyalty. I have the gold watch my father got when he had worked 25 years for the same company.
I worked for 33 years for a large metropolitan council and after 25 years I could have had tea with the Lord Mayor. Mind you if I wanted my OH to accompany me I would have had to pay for her!

What are your additional requirements PD?
They are not necessary additions, while I would like to see some additions, it is true to say I use less of what the Club has to offer than in the initial few years of membership with probably the biggest changes occurring when I moved from a caravan to a motorhome.
The Club is moving far to slowly to keep up with the more nomadic requirements of the motorhome owning public It is still stuck in the rut providing facilities for those who want to stop several days on sites for their holidays. That is fine if that is what I do now and again but it really does not meet the requirements of touring with a motorhome.

It sounds as if you would prefer to able to book an indeterminate length of stay at a whim (and probably without EHU I suspect) dropping in on sites along a tour route either planned or unplanned. Am I reading too much into your post PD?
You do though say that you would like to see some additions of some kind.

The "nomadic" sections of society ,do not seem to be very prevelant on club sites ,as it seems unless it is PVC/Campervan,it is very unusual for any other Motor Caravans to go out for the day when on sites , it seems most are just smaller caravans with a built on 6ft cab and engine,
Just need to read the posts on here and reviews from motor caravan owners who look for sites within easy reach of PT or towns/vallages
we were the same before we reverted to car/caravan Combo,
It will be "interesting" to find if the up take of the add facilities pods etc at the rebuilt site at Cayton has been worth the add costs ,as unless the info i have from those i know is incorrect? compared to what the marketing dept of "Experience Freedom" off shoot says

The nomadic section are very much in evidence JVB, often just staying a night, depends which sites you visit and how long you spend gazing out of your windows whilst staying put.
Luckily CAMC allows one night stays, another feather in their cap.

The nomadic don’t go out for the day. They tend to be here tonight and gone tomorrow as the name implies. You’d probably not even notice them in view of their transient ways. 👍🏻
However, whatever folk do, they shouldn't be ridiculed, looked down on or even commented on for their choice.

All companies gather data about me, and it doesn't trouble me at all.
If Emirates Airways chooses to collect data and add up how many miles I have flown with them and reward me with an upgrade every now and then that's OK with me. If Tesco chooses to collect data to know how much I have spent with them and reward me with cash vouchers in return then that's OK too. Good business practice.
Waitrose on the other hand knows how little I spend with them so sends me offers to try to persuade me to do better. Good business practice too.
I am sure this Club also collects data and knows exactly how much or how little I have spent with them in the last twelve months - but does nothing about it either way. No rewards for spending, and no encouragement to spend more. That seems bad business practice.

I disagree but as I'm on the road and not staying on site, I’m not there counting them. Anyway, does it matter?

I’m not saying it should trouble you or that it's a bad thing but please don’t think it’s about loyalty because it isn’t. That's the myth they like to perpetuate.

There is a basic difference to the first part of your post and what you mention about the club
The first are all companies with shareholder with big profit sharing, and Waitrose to their staff as part of John Lewis
All money that members and other parts etc of the cc as also the ccc is reinvested in club facilities for the benefit of members

It matters not to me either but seemed to be a point of some interest to others.
My meaning was that if I travel from site to site then I obviously am not on the same/original site observing who stays, goes or returns. In that respect, you and JV will have superior knowledge as the observers of such habits.
On the other hand, I meet a surprising number of the same folk who turn up on different sites night after night as if we follow each other around. The nomadics, as we have been called😀

Not sure who is interested greatly.

Possibly. I only move site every 5 nights.

I’ll be of the nomadic variety when I return Tinster👍🏻. I tried the tugging variety but I didn’t get on with it so after a few years of podding & tenting I’m considering a campervan(not Moho) I want it to be a B&B not to live in so it’s a pop top camper on the horizon👍🏻

31 years as a member this year and my Parents were members from 1964 until my Dad's death in 2001.It would hardly break the CMC to have given us a free night voucher after 30 years.
Recovering from cancer surgery,Chemo and then "Lockdown" means that we have hardly got away this year. Now we find that our village's postcode is included in Tier 3 due to our proximity to the nearby town which has a bad Covid status and we are now on the CMC 's "naughty step" for the foreseeable.
It does gall me when the CMC only offer their largesse to "newbies" and no CCC type compensation for site non availability etc to longstanding members..Hey ho,such is Life...and CMC PR deficiencies.
Roll on 2021!

There's no better way of seeing what this country has to offer, Rocky. Travelling around and enjoying the countryside then rolling up at a site to spend the night and off again in the morning to explore some more and find a new site is superb and the smaller your vehicle, the more places you can visit👍🏻.

Yup that’s the plan. It’s the complete freedom of the camper that’s the draw. I’ve thrown Money at pods, tents, tailgate awning & now rooftop tent on the truck but I’m looking to extend the season with comfort. Plus I’ve had it suggested to me to travel around the coast of the UK, sounds like a plan👍🏻🙂

The freedom is great, even with the need to book sites at times.
I’ve known people who've done the coast trip. One lady locally bought herself a camper and set off to do the whole trip in one go. Others do it in sections spread over time. Give me a shout if you find yourself bound for the Cornish coast😀

The observation that MH's tend to stay on site may be due to the antipathy of many councils with car parks inaccessible due to height restrictions or ridiculously small parking bays. My MH is relatively small but most parking provision is either inadequate or inaccessible( I can't limbo dance). Small wonder that they antagonise the natives when they park up on an open bit of seafront as it's often the only bit of accessible space.
