Club sites in lockdown areas.
We are currently on a club site which is in an area adjacent to one in local lockdown. I am not aware if the situation has occurred yet, where a site is situated in an area which is locked down but it would be useful to know how the club will approach this situation. I am sure that this must have been discussed, so it would be useful for members to know. Will members also be locked in the area or will the site close, possibly at short notice as earlier in the year?

Depends what you mean by lockdown. Most of the local restrictions have related to mixing of households, maximum numbers, partial closure of pubs, bars, restaurants etc (Bolton). None have introduced curfews as far as I know.
Restrictions were harshest in Spring but even then food shops etc were open. I can’t see this being repeated in anything other than a limited way. People will still be going shopping, going to work etc so I can’t see why sites would have to close or restrict movement.

I’m sure I saw a piece on the national news stating that the North East(Newcastle area) are entering a local lockdown tomorrow, pubs curfewed & no gatherings. Hence it has been called ‘local lockdown’ it may impact the public(you & I)🤔

I don't think we would want to "sit it out" if the situation in the area is that poor that restrictions were necessary. And moving on elsewhere at short notice could be tricky when sites are busy.
With an apparently deteriorating situation in many areas, including our own, we made the decision last week not to go away at present. Should have been setting out this Sunday.
We were looking forward to a change of scenery, and our friends in Wales were looking forward to seeing us for a few days, but we are all over 70, with pre-existing conditions, so decided to err on the side of caution.

Link to the local newspaper in Newcastle. This is from a relative up there. Apparently numbers have been rising steadily but the suddeness has taken them by surprise.

Assuming that the whole idea of restrictions and lockdowns is to prevent or slow the spread of the virus, I suppose the ultra careful and responsible thing to do would be to leave a.s.a.p. travel directly home avoiding all interactions with other people and self isolate for 14 days on arrival.
Alternatively, take the family for a day out to Barnard Castle.

To check brakes(if you get stopped)👍🏻

There would appear to be no travel restrictions to or from sites in England in local lockdown areas example being Burrs Country Park in Bury which has been in local lockdown since end of July. This is confirmed in Government guidance.
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland with devolved administrations have always had their own rules with more restricted travel and even after reading today's latest reports I could not find a specific requirement on caravan sites.

I’m not into rehashing(it’s been done to death🤷🏻♂️), allow me some latitude here👍🏻

Does one want to go anywhere where the situation is looking that precarious in the first place?

I don't think I've been anywhere this year since the start of Covid where I have felt totally ok and not aware of the risks involved. My feelings are it could be anywhere. If we manage to get away on our next trip which touches on areas of increased Covid infections we'll be even more alert and probably curtail more activities amongst the general public...it's going to be different yet again.

My understanding of a ‘curfew’ is where no one would be allowed out of their homes after a certain time. The 10:00pm limit is on pubs, bars etc meaning they have to close at that time.
Maybe I’m naive but I unless things turn into a total disaster then I can’t see any government implementing a full curfew and stopping travel. They can ‘advise’ but when they did so in a spring and Police were stopping cars etc for travelling to the Lakes eg they were soon told that they had no powers to do so.

The term lockdown is very misleading. France, Spain and Italy had full lockdowns, reinforced by a strong and active police presence. England, etc.......was given guidance, oft at times rather vague, and with little in most areas to give it any teeth. Relied mainly on a social conscience, the fact that other than essential places of work and health providers everywhere else was closed, so there was nowhere to go if the desire was there. I think we saw a police patrol car twice in our town in four months.
Now there are lots of places for people to meet up, interact, drink, dine, socialise etc..... All that is changing in areas of growing risk is proposals to close socialising areas earlier (so you get less time to throw down as much alcohol as you fancy, you can’t dawdle as long over a meal) and then there is the vague hope that families and friends won’t be tempted to meet up, beyond just caring for dependents. I haven’t seen anything for England that states residents can or cannot travel from an area of high cases into an area with few cases. I think one of the Welsh areas has such restrictions, but does it include for work, and who is policing it? 🤷♀️

I think the advice for Wales and Scotland has been a lot clearer throughout Brue.

I would think it would be difficult to give any advise to anyone except to follow local instructions , as it seems it is different depending where the lockdown is?
Self preservation would i think would be a priority and get out before it is implemented?
refunds ould be another day to sort out

I'm sorry but isn't it common sense, if the area you are stopping in is going into lockdown then I would leave and go home. Wouldn't want to go out and about, upsetting the locals. Wouldn't want to be forced, by a travel lockdown, to stay in that area. Sometimes we have to think for ourselves what is best.

If the campsite is in a lockdown area then the site owner should close it until the situation improves.
