Civilisation (for some) seems to have broken down this year, there are wild camping problems the length and breadth of the uk and it's mostly coming from cars and tent campers.

Yes, it would be great to have a few more night stops for motorhomes but there's even more to sort out now courtesy of local councils and tax payers. Can't see much happening whilst these things have to be sorted.

There are some very unattractive Club Sites, I have to agree. But conversely, there are some very nice ones as well.
I am currently looking out private sites for a Northumberland/Borders tour, one or two of our favourites are closed this year due to Covid, but most are showing pitches available when we want to go. I might look at park ups as well, see if anything interesting comes up.

Granted there are worse places but out of choice there is no way I would take a motorhome of any size to Treen even via Polgigga. A campervan maybe, but in this case, in preference to an "aire," I would pick one of the Club sites at Sennen and either bike or use a towed car to visit the area.

Looking at your avatar, you’ve got a fairly big motorhome so maybe I can understand your concerns. However, anybody contemplating this route in a campervan or PVC should have no concerns about navigating the B3283/B3315 assuming they can drive backwards should the eventuality arise. That said, if access to these places was easy, it probably wouldn’t be worth going there. Local buses, lorries and delivery vans use these routes each & every day without much drama.

I have indeed SB but note I did say a motorhome of any size. I have stayed at Telew Farm CL just off the B3283 but there is no way I would drive beyond St Buryan on that road.
Getting back to aires here are some pics of some I have stayed at.
1 A free aire and also a French Passion site, I bought local in their farm shop.
2. Night halt on the way south entry on payment at the barrier
3. One I use frequently an hour and half drive south of Calais, pay on exit
4. Yet to use Bourton on the Water UK, the demand is there!

For the more adventurous, I recommend Hemmick Beach in south Cornwall, it’s one of the nicest, unspoilt beaches in Cornwall you’ll find and best at low tide. Never crowded because it’s relatively unknown and has very limited parking unless you’re prepared for a wallk. Approach from the Gorran/Penare rather than Boswinger side down real Cornish lanes, the kind with high banks and grass strips up the middle! Look out for a NT car park (space enough to park several motorhomes) tucked away on the right before you go down the hill. Park here and walk down the path over fields to the beach. It’s NT so strictly speaking no overnight camping, but not all follow the rules. In the same area Vault and Carehays Beach have good day parking, the former NT with no facilities and the latter privately owned with good facilities. Gorran Haven also has a nice sheltered beach, good parking and easy access.

Sneer all you want BB, when we bought our MH, parked up cheek by jowl with hoards of other folks was never going to float our boat. Either in UK or overseas.
Some of our choices. Some are sites, some are not. All lovely locations, quiet, peaceful, full of interest for us. I am sure there are same overseas........ Those of us with UK experience don’t struggle for night time halts, I have just found our first for September............and it ain’t a Site, but a night time halt😁

Why don’t you stop attacking folk BB, your sabbatical was a treat for CT posters tbh. You just can’t stop attacking folk. I realise you really don’t want to be in this Country but your anger & frustration really shouldn’t be aired on here at fellow posters. Before you use your ‘go to’ defence. . .No one has attacked you. Your first post back was an attack.

I was delighted today to see that the Galloway Forest is now covered in signs which state no overnight parking.There was one parking space at the deer park but that was taken up by table and chairs from the motorcaravan parked next to it.I shall leave it at that

This is a photo of a rather wonderful place we have just found for a night halt. It’s not yet available, but our kind of stop. I will report back with full details, if we get a pull in space, and if it’s worth passing on. It’s not free, although a very reasonable price, and there are no facilities, but it’s promising that such spots are coming online. 😁 cannot be booked in advance😉

There's absolutely no way I'd enjoy sleeping in close proximity to another motorhome, especially with covid in the air (or on the aire
)So things have changed, maybe there'll be a few more motorhome overnight provisions at some point but although the debate has been quite robust, as the say, I'm out of this one now. Enjoy your travels!
