Aires in the UK

Nobody seemed to be bothered BB. On one particularly spacious one we and just about everyone else had our awnings out. On all of them just about everyone was sat outside on the hot evenings with a drink, or even eating a meal. Probably was against the regs. However, when have the French ever taken any notice of those.😂

Yet another old chestnut.
It is you who consistently fails to actually read other posts having already determined your stance.
So where is your answer to my post rather than your evasive answer?
I have given you facts which debunks your continued use of space on this "small island" as an excuse. Other countries can do it and there are so we are told oodles of brown field sites on the edge of towns and cities that could be used for Aires. Not necessarily by the CAMC. That's not my view but it doesn't make the point any less valid.

Maybe all the entrepreneurs are a little bit scared of what might happen with the demise of diesel/petrol engines

Must admit I tend to agree. Nothing is being achieved. Some want full blown Aires, some just want somewhere to park whilst the visit, some want to do whatever they want to do but most posts are just

You cannot visit Paris and say there isn’t any graffiti! A case for specsavers if ever there was one.
BTW, some of of it is very good.

I think the key phrase there is “particularly spacious”. Some of the blogs and pictures I have read said the vans were packed in so tight you could barely open your door. Appreciate there are all sorts of Aires, some look very nice, others however...... But I suppose that is down to choice, much like camping anywhere really, we all have preferences.

In some parts of the country here have been more trouble with Travellers taking over an area and making an encampment. This has made those local authorities cautious. I have no doubt. Apart from the hassle of eviction the councils are bound to consider the welfare aspects involving many departments such as housing, medical, education, social services etc and probably would prefer not to have to address the issues. In town areas land owners can make money on car parking with height barrier and less problems.

Two examples I found of Aires. One is like hell on Earth as far as I am concerned, the other much better......

I did not say there was no graffitti, just that it was not, where we were, worse than JVB's "real dives"......whatever that means.
We were in the touristy areas, which I am sure the French make an extra effort to keep looking good!
Some of the outsides of commuter trains were quite interesting however...as you say, much of it is very good.

Whether it be Aires or anything else, there appears to be a different administrative/cultural mindset in the UK. Whilst the continent seems to have a "what can we achieve" approach, here it is more like finding reasons why we shouldn't do something.

The nearer to more populated areas ,the problem of unautherised camping seems to be more prevelant, and as your post points out it is not (in this country)easy for LAs to ignore the social responsibilities that they , by law have to carry out ,which is a big cost in some areas, and also a big deterent to setting up any type of facility for others to use

As posted Paris like many cities around the world have their "public touristy face"and areas that are not on the "tourists"trail ,ithink most who have used the train from London to Paris and then done the transfer by french coach to Guare de Lyon? wiil have noted

Last time we were in Spain the beach front camp site about half a mile along the coast from our hotel,, there was not room to get between the LVs that were pitched side on to the beach about fifty to sixty of them
It was the same at Lake Guarda on the lakeside campsites
Glad when we did "over there" thirty to forty odd years ago it was not as crowded, thats when it was real caravan holidays

Exactly our view of Caravan Club sites, many seemed to be spacious back then and is the reason we don't frequent them now.

I don't know if it is me but in my youth I was aware of Gypsies but travellers seems to me to be a more recent phenomenon. Probably just a coincidence I suspect and chance that up until 45 years ago I had spoken with many gypsies but not a single traveller.
It has doubtless become far harder to follow the lifestyle that they had then.

Pssssst, could it possibly be that you are no longer a member & that would make it exceptionally expensive too👍🏻😊

😁Ha, you know I haven’t, but I know which one I would choose. Same in this country, some are nice Sites, some definitely are not. I was merely using the two photos to illustrate just how different peoples preferences are. I think the France Passion network would interest us more, depends on locations of course.
