Serviced pitches
We have been looking for superpitches because of the covid thing.I must admit, especially when you are older, they really are lovely.I find it difficult to get super pitches on club sites as there are so few of them whereas more and more private sites,CLs etc are offering them and in large numbers.Our last stay was on a site that was all superpitches.Perhaps its time for the club to start offering more.

I totally agree, there is a desperate need for more fully serviced pitches especially the way things are now. The club needs to expand the number available as quickly as it can. I know they are more expensive but I think they are well worth the extra money.
I would like to see no facility site with fully serviced pitches, just think how many serviced pitches you could install for the cost of one facility block.

I can improve on that. I have shower and toilet built into my van so they're always on the pitch with me. 🙄

Some people want them, some don't. Personally, I have no need of serviced pitches and would only find them of use if they were fully serviced, ie chemical emptying as well. I think the club has very few fully serviced pitches and they're pretty rare elsewhere.

I think when there is the space and drains and water supplies can be installed "big money" ,more could be installed on sites of both clubs,
It seems at this time most pitches with water and waste are installed where drainage and water supplies are close by , i.e. the facilties buildings to the detriment of those not wanting to pay the extra to save walking to a service point, (when will the request for dustbin at each pitch?
It seems they are popular as they seem to be booked up on most sites
, Some friends of ours have recently stayed on a quite new cl with 5 hard stands and a facility building with a bathroom for each pitch, But then it was £20 per night midweek and £25 per night weekends ,

I think they are well worth the extra money.
In normal times, maybe for some. For me however they are a waste of money when the club charge a ridiculous £4 a night for the privilege. I mainly have 5 or 6 nights on a site and move on. That means that the one fill of our aquaroll and one empty of the waste costs up to £24.

I agree the Club charge of nearly £4 a night is ridiculous IMO.
I don't 'hook up' to water and waste when the facility is available as, for my regular duration of stay, I only need to fill once and empty once and so little point on carrying extra kit and faffing about connecting up..

I am pleased that the Club offers services on some pitches, mainly because it enables less mobile folks the chance to keep going a bit longer with a touring lifestyle, but part of why we choose to tour is that it helps keep us fit. The tiny bit of labour involved fetching and carrying water and waste is part of this for us. It’s good to have the choice and the price tag variety. We too would prefer to see more no facility sites.

"Serviced pitches"on a non facility site?apart form the large cost of installing water and waste to each pitch (grass pitches also?it would also mean on the majority much more often emptying of the cess pit tanks £200 plus each load ,a non facility site in the Cotswolds had a tanker in in weekly ;;; and also woudl be unable to save the grass by moving pitches around

It is pleasant for sure but when we have been on a serviced pitch it has been a hapstance rather than an additional cost. The only time that I paid extra was Wood Farm caravan site in order to get the desired pitch location. That too was £4 a night extra but paid purely because of siting. 5 nights not a big part of a 50 night holiday

Even with our MH I quite like them. All the ones we have used are nice and level, or only a minimal fall front to back. They are also hardstanding. Therefore what ever time you arrive you are guaranteed a nice level hardstanding pitch. Plus of course, if we stay for 4 nights we don't need to move the van to top up or queue at the emptying point when leaving. Shame there aren't more like Chatsworth with your own CDP.
As to numbers, given the premium I think it would be somewhat unfair to increase the numbers at sites where they are available. However, I would like the option at every site on the network, including non facility sites.

We often book a serviced pitch these days. Apart from the waste we don't connect up the water but it's very handy having it on pitch. Another reason of course is that serviced pitches are nearly always hardstandings and whilst the Club continue to refuse to allow us to book a hardstanding we will probably continue to book service pitches. Just wish the Club would have a standard installation, ideally with the service point in the corner of the pitch rather than in some places (Seacroft) shared between two pitches. I do agree that the extra charge for a service pitch is a bit steep. However the popularity of this type of pitch seems to suggest the many members don't mind the extra charge?
Interesting thought about no toilet block sites with serviced pitches. It seems to work quite well at Hebden Bridge albeit only half a dozen pitches. At others there might be infrastructure problems preventing it.
I am almost surprised that the Club have not gone down the route of installing private toilet/shower pods to individual pitches.I think they would be very popular and a boon in these COVID times. Heaven knows what the extra nightly cost of one of those would be!!!

I do like a serviced pitch as we mainly use our own facilities, but I do not like the extra £4 the Club charge, so we have not used serviced pitch on a Club site for many years.
Instead we look for CLs with serviced pitches, which can be had for usually around £15-£18 per night, sometimes even less.2 -
I would imagine a serviced pitch would be great just now despite the cost, no need to queue at the facilities block and run the risk of being infected, just stand under your own shower for as long as you like without anybody screaming hurry up !, and never run out of water, bliss

yes why was that closed ???, i thought the price on offer for swimming pool, bar & restaurant was very competitve against a couple of commercial sites we use in Dorset, for me you pays your money and takes your chance if you dont like it move on, but no harm in trying for a cheaper rate.
