Normandy Sites

After 2 years of touring the UK, we're busy planning our first trip abroad in our MH. Not until June 2021 though. France is the choice and we're looking at the Normandy Coast. I know that there are countless options but we're considering a ferry to Cherbourg, 3 x 5 nights going East along the coast and either another ferry back from Dieppe or carry on to Calais and use the tunnel. I would really appreciate any constructive comments and more importantly, a recommendation of sites. I fully appreciate that we could use Aires. However, for our first visit we'd like fully serviced sites. There's only the 2 of us, so no children or pets to consider. Many thanks.

    The municipal in Bayeux is very good and well located for visiting several of the beaches, as well as Bayeux itself. LINK

    There are over 400 campsites listed in Normandy and I wouldn't start by choosing any of them - none of them will reservations in June. I think the first step is to decide what you want to see and do while you are there. 

    I don't know your interests - it might be World war 2 museums and cemeteries (all along the landing beaches), older history ( Bayeux tapestry), modern art and architecture (Le Havre)  wonderful gardens (Vauville as well as Giverny), classic seaside resorts (Deauville and Trouville), big tourist attractions (Mont St Michel and Honfleur) , nature reserves and bird watching (Marquentere), ruined castles (Falaise and Les Andelys), the fine old centre of Rouen, plus village markets, cliff walks, remote beaches, or seafood restaurants  (everywhere). You need a good guide book !

    But I think with a Motorhome you will be driving from place to place and might well be stopping for a couple of nights here and there rather than trying to find central points for three x 5 night stays.

    Don't over plan!

    Actually ET you've just described our perfect trip. All of them please. We have done all of them at one time or another. 

    It's a wonderful area for your first visit JT.

    When we left the Bayeux site last October we stopped off at Utah beach on the way to the ferry at Cherbourg. Spent several hours in the museum which was very interesting. Beach well worth a visit too, although we had to do that between downpours.😂 There is a reasonable amount of parking for MH's beyond the coach parking, top of aerial view and street view image.  If a busy time of year, there is the option of using the campingcarpark Aire (shown on the plan) for parking. This costs 5€ for up to 5 hours, although you do need to get a card for entry. Info on their web site. LINK
