Club wifi, again!

My original post, although most of it has now been Deleted User, was making the point that I have paid for Club Wi-fi and yet it was unavailable.
as a result I have now found out how to connect my smartphone, which I already knew & everybody’s opinion on smartphones which I use for everything (except levelling my caravan). I have also found out which pocket I should keep it in & what trousers/shorts members prefer. Nobody, yet, has commented on the policy of the Club to continue to charge for Wi-fi when it is clearly inadequate for the purpose.0 -
The club doesn’t charge us for Wi-fi. You need to take issues up with Air Angel. 👍🏻

I certainly thought that I commented on that aspect Paul but it must have been a similar thread and I am sure that others did also but maybe on another thread. If the wifi is not adequate for purpose then you surely would not want it. Generally I find site wifi, where provided, perfectly adequate. Not generally interested in using a hotspot though.
If people don't feel that CMC wifi is adequate then why would they want to pay for it? If it was 'free' it would effectively mean that all members were paying for its use since that is where income is derived from. I find that for me it is generally fine where supplied and I am happy to pay to use it therefore. Why should those that think it unsuitable have to pay towards my usage
Your initial post was being unable to connect to wifi. This Camelford site does not have general wifi and wifi is only available at a specific location.
From Site details: 'Our Wi-Fi hotspot service on this site means internet access is available within a pre-determined, communal area of the site'.

One thing I never need to ask you is the TV thing👍🏻. There can’t be many days go by without you telling someone. It gives you happiness. Me?, I love Youtube so I need a TV👍🏻😊

That’ll be a smart TV, eh, Rocky? 🤔

Yes I did👍🏻, it was about my TV, however you are most welcome to the intro I gave you👍🏻😊.
PS-you carry the TV as ballast maybe🤔, or because you can🤷🏻♂️.

It is Tinster, streaming systems ensure the opening of a bigger better World of entertainment. Those Discovery & History channels are superb👍🏻.

That's quite something! YouTube on the big screen, too, and even CT if you want😂😂

That’s the glory of streaming-1 TV in the lounge & 1 in the Conservatory with streaming enabled. A good strong WIFI needed mind👍🏻

I pay for Club Wi-fi and, rightly or wrongly, expect it to work. I have used tethering but it does use significantly more data than just using the phone. Perhaps the Club should follow the lead taken by the Camping & Caravan Club and provide it free, it has always worked on the sites we have visited but sometimes drops out at times of high demand. Many private sites now provide a good service of Wi-fi included in the price. It is time the Club did likewise.

Even if it doesn’t work EasyT?

and provide it free
you really think it is free?

it might be said that you're paying for the use of a kids' play ground that you won't be using too. Paul just suggested that wifi could be free a point of use, like our NHS. There are plenty of places that provide 'free' wifi ... buses, McDonalds, car dealers' waiting areas .... but we all know that we're paying for it somewhere along the line.

And I stated ED that, purely from a selfish interest, I prefer to pay for it. Simple really, many say that they won't pay for it, the fewer using it the more satisfied I am likely to remain with using it. If it was free to all I suspect that it would not cope and that it would effectively become useless to all...... including me.

Hi everyone,
Firstly a polite reminder to keep the discussion friendly, despite difference of opinions.
We currently have 149 sites on our network that have Wi-Fi. A full list and information can be found here: www.caravanclub.co.uk/uk-holidays/useful-information/wi-fi/
With regards to Wi-Fi we are aware that other campsites offer a free, but limited service in the form of hotspot zones. You’ve told us that you like to be able to access services provided by Wi-Fi from the comfort of your own outfit. In order to do this, the cost to do so is accentuated.
We are continuously looking at solutions as to how we might be able to offer a free Wi-Fi service in the future and when a solution is sought, we will look to roll this out.
If you are experiencing difficulty with the Wi-Fi facility on site (e.g. logging on, purchasing time, issues with your devices, payment or refund queries) please contact Airangel (the Wi-Fi supplier) direct on 0333 240 7610. Lines open 24/7, 365 a days a year.

I've tried the odd few times in the past to access CT via the 'free' wifi log-in .... failed each time. And reading here of the problems that other have with it, and that you can only use one devise IMHO makes it a none starter. I just use my phone or use it as a hotspot.

Obviously on a Club site and couldn’t get wifi!

The one device could be better I agree, but for us it is fine. OH does not use her tablet anywhere as much as me.
When we settle, about 7.30pm I guess, she tends to read a book after we stop chatting, with breaks to discuss things. I used to enjoy reading but when I lost the sight in one eye no longer found reading a proper book enjoyable as I cannot scan the same and it irritates me. So it is generally me that makes most use with our mifi device when we both use internet or if we are not on a CMC site (with wifi).
No idea why some have problems with CMC wifi and (obviously) some don't. I say that as it works for me.
It would be rare that I would use a hot spot for wifi even if no phone signal for mifi. When on the site near Blenheim Castle I used the hotspot as it was available and worked at the caravan. It turned out that the warden did the same
