2021 Ferry Prices.
Checked prices today for June/July 2021. Brittany ferries haven't finished publishing yet but what they have published are a lot more expensive than this year. The club have published similar increases. These prices are prohibitive so it could be "game over" for our Eurpean holidays. Our first was 1970. Increas example 2020 = £360, 2021 = £489 (50% increase). We will wait and see what prices are published finally but it looks grim.

We also pay premiums for long crossings and good cabins. We too have the means to chose the crossings we want rather than on price and are happy to pay the going rate. "We as adequate konkers" as Steptoe once said. Reduced occupancy because of additional cleaning and social distancing will have an impact but 50%?

Personally I might well save money in 2021.
The flagship "Pont Aven" will be making a daytime crossing from Plymouth to Roscoff next summer instead of only going overnight .Because of that I can ride comfortably in the lounge in the daylight and won't need to pay £85 for an overnight cabin the size of a prison cell.

i have reverted to Portsmouth Caen/Cherbourg day time crossings, yes we have to drive down thru France to get to Spain but quite a good drive taking it easy during autumn/spring months, and now that most of Spain is toll free that is quite a big saving , and fido can sleep in the back of car, much more preferable than either a dog friendly cabin or onboard kennels, and if you should get tossed around it is only for a short period of time.

Having been nowhere, and spent very little in the last 3 months I don’t mind if the ferry crossing costs more than this year (which didn’t materialise anyway).
BF Spanish routes are rumoured to be being released next Wednesday, will be booking Bilbao, returning from St Malo with nice cabins both ways. Just hope it doesn’t all get cancelled again 🤞 .

Hi euror, we used to always take the 1200 crossing on a Tuesday coming back 4 weeks the following Sunday.
What are the proposed crossings in 2021, and where did you see them??
Have to say the Thursday overnight really suits us, nice meal and a full day for travelling on the Friday.

Allan, Plymouth to Roscoff shuts down from 1 November 2020 to 22March 2021, but the timetable after that is alrady up on Britanny Ferries website. The daytime sailing to Roscoff on Pont Aven will depart Plymouth on Fridays at 1315. Her overnight run to Roscoff will be Tuesdays at 2000 instead of Thursdays. I leave prices to you

Hi Euror, Apologies as I typed the question and then thought why don’t I just look at the BF website!
Interesting, and will be looking at the Spanish crossings when they are available, that they are back to two Pont Aven crossings to France per week and hoping that the 100% increase in crossings won’t lead to big price rises but, as AD says, would take significant increases to dissuade us from using BF.0 -
I have been looking for this year for end of August, normally Dover-Calais Ferry would be in the region of £150-£170 and Tunnel around £200 not both are about £90 more so 50% increase on ferry and 45% for tunnel.
I know they are having to make up for lost time and perhaps have a captive market but seems a bit excessive but I guess if thats the cost we will just have to pay up of stay in Blighty.

We had a Stena Line ferry booked to Hook of Holland next month. Total cost was £194.80. I've just projected the dates to next year for June and it's only gone up by £20 to £214.75
If you are going to Germany or Eastern Europe then this is an excellent price.

Depending on when you book I don't think BF is working out any dearer for the crossing we want. As they increase prices as availability falls the price for Portsmouth St Malo would have been more last year booking 2 months before than it is booking for September 2021 now.
We didn't book it last years as we could only get a 2 berth bunked cabin and both of us struggle with the top bunk. We usually book a four berth.
However, the Bretagne has Commodore class ones, which we have used before and they were very nice. Only thing is they go early, hence the reason for booking now. We decided you can't take it with you and it is a very nice start and end to the holiday with an excellent meal in the onboard restaurant.😋 Only thing is you are limited in your day for the voyage back if you want a night crossing, as it only does one a week.

TG dont recall to be honest but wondered why my tickets were so cheap you get 20% for sailings to France 15% to spain
this was what it said when i followed link in email i received
"Input your voucher reference on the payment step of the booking process. Only one voucher can be redeemed per booking. If you have more than one voucher and wish to book a return sailing, please book two one-way sailings and use one voucher for each.
The discount will be automatically applied on step 4 of the booking process."
it worked ok for me

Thanks Rufs, just been back on to BF site and made a booking for April 2021 Portsmouth to Bilbao it took the discount off no problem this time.
I've changed the sailing times from mid day to 17.00 dropped the cost by £120 and as its Spring time it will be light nights so getting to a campsite shouldn't be a problem. Just need to find one now near to Bilbao
Fingers and everything crossed we get there this time.

Thanks David, if we were still on the midday I probably would just head for Burgos area.
The teatime ferry doesn't dock until 17.30 so if we allow an hour to disembark, we are looking at El Roble Verde its just a bit north of Haro about 30 - 60 mins drive away.
EDIT: notice that it had changed days David, we are now going on a Monday rather than Wednesday but as the sailing is later in the day it means we can stop further back up the road from Portsmouth.

Same here Harry, the Bilbao crossing for us, using a friends code works out less than using the club. Using BF you get the 3 options and for us the Flexi works out best as we can amend the booking online with no cost.
This year it has proved to be much better as we have been able to keep moving the dates and crossings around without having to contact anyone. BF were very quick to get in touch with us when the ferry crossing was cancelled back in April.
If we are using the Plymouth to Roscoff route then usually the club works out better.

If we are using the Plymouth to Roscoff route then usually the club works out better.
And being in Cornwall and only 35 miles from Plymouth, long may that continue!
Our proposed trip this year was a return Plymouth to Roscoff overnight, in an inside 2 berth cabin, with 4 site vouchers costing £320.
Same details next year is £400 but move to the day crossing and it’s £531.
We will be more than happy with the £400 club price, rather than the £658 BF price.

But I am getting completely conflicting results !
Plymouth - Roscoff 14 May - 23 May 2021 two adults plus car when we go to a holiday house - so no caravan this time, and daytime crossings so no cabins needed.
CMC price £342 return
BF price £253 return (and if I borrow a friend's code £228 return)
Both are non Flexi tickets as I think that's the only sort CMC sells.

My findings are even worse than yours albeit a different route.
Just looking at BF ferry prices for next year and it's a headache/
Portsmouth - Caen return, car, 7m van and 2 adults. No add ons. May 24th out 14.45 £219. Return, June 23rd back at 14.00 (No morning sailing) £234 so total should equal £453 but in the summary it shows the return price as £272 giving a total cost of £491 Odd!
Club price same times etc. Total price a whopping £589 That I believe is an increase of approx £300 over this year
How can the club explain the massive difference over that of the operator.
I haven't factored in night vouchers as I have just done a like for like price.
