Covid-19 refund
While everyone has suffered loses due to government mandated shutdowns, most organisations (Camping and Caravanning Club, Gyms, Clubs, etc.) have suspended membership fees during this period. Quite reasonably they've realised they can't charge for something they can't supply. That's why the government has provided multiple relief funds for these businesses.
I asked the Caravan & Motorhome Club how they would be handling this (refund, extending memberships, etc.) and was astonished to receive a reply indicating they won't be! That is, they think it fair to charge a membership fee to a closed clubs!
While I love the Caravanning & Motorhome Club, and support it to the tune of weeks (months) of bookings a year, I think this unilateral confiscation of fees (with no consultation) outrageous.
Your thoughts?

I wasn't bothered the first time we thrashed through this.🙄
Why consultation?🤷🏻♂️

I agree the less than £13 charge it represents is hardly signficant, but the unilateral decision to charge for a service you can't supply is something one expects from a bank more than a club?
It would seem at minimum polite to offer those wanting a compensatory extended membership the choice?
It's not about the money as much as the attitude I think.

You seem to have changed from wanting a refund/extension to complaining about attitude, SC.
Unilateral? Hardly. We empower the club via the elected council to run the business in line with its aims. They have no need to run to the membership for authorisation every time they make a decision. The answer is to not use the club further if it offends in its attitude.
Now, if you’d posted complaining about the level of competency within the club's admin, you'd have had my whole hearted support.😀
I gave my views on refunds in an earlier thread. They are still the same and I’m pleased to say I’m still here.
