There is a big difference between motorhomes and caravans in that motorhome insurers generally offer European breakdown cover including repatriation for a very modest supplement to the annual premium. You would need separate medical cover which is best purchased as an annual multi-trip and this is a very competitive market so can be quite low cost.

Yes somebody on another post got medical cover for 3 people for £26, they were very young undecided, have always liked RP , although expensive, i like to have just the 1 number to call if things go wrong, have not yet looked at their price for our next trip, but i know it will not be cheap.

I agree it's preferable to have just one contact number but:

    • I couldn't get a quote for Red Pennant EU breakdown cover online.
    • I couldn't get hold of anyone by ringing the Red Pennant number - 45 minutes on hold.

As I said earlier, I've bought Annual Breakdown cover for £147 though Eurobreakdown.

I just did a quote for CMC Annual Overseas Holiday Insurance for just myself and it comes out at £212.50!

Needless to say I won't be taking up the offer!

Another vote for Eurobreakdown - regular customer. Most years I get a quote from Red Pennant just to test the market and they are always uncompetitive, not slightly, but massively. That said, Red Pennant seem to have a good reputation when things go wrong. I’ve never needed to use Eurobreakdown, so not sure if it’s better value cover or not.

Annual personal travel insurance policy with LV, always competitive and excellent customer service.

I get my van serviced by a Fiat Professional dealer and that automatically qualifies me for breakdown cover across Europe with Fiat Assistance.
