Caravan sites opening and safety measures feedback

Poolsbrook nhas a lot more pitches than Rowntree park and as others have posted pre pay was for the opening of club sites across the network only ,and would take many more staff to cope if it was to be a regular method
What time did you arrive a Poolsbrook?if it was at the popular /frenzy to be on site at first arrival time , then untill this very dangerous time is reduced?,and some ,, members realise there are others in the queue? to book in, with the restrictions ,that have been put in place,it is something that we will all have learn to live with,
Supermarket and other shops queues should have been a precursor of what can be expected for many months or longer

Rowntree Park in York has been running an efficient booking in system for years although normally when you arrive you'd be checked off a list without leaving your van and then pay at the office later after pitching.
Poolsbrook, we have only been there once at a fairly quiet time, the facilities are much better there than York, light airy and modern, no idea about numbers using them.
I don't know why people are going into the CAMC receptions in the present circumstances. I thought phone payment was being taken on arrival where possible? The C&CC is taking a direct debit on arrival day so no unnecessary inside office contact.
I am confused...

I'm sure phone payment to the number posted on a board was mentioned. However, perhaps that is proving difficult to implement to any great extent due to the number of vouchers being used.

That's what I thought as well, brue. Could it be that that was only for opening day, 4th of July? I suppose there may be some people who don't have mobile phones though, so presumably they would have to go inside to pay.

Seems a much better system to me, makes a lot of sense.

I read that people entered reception to use the vouchers and where it was mentioned there was a screen in place and you placed the voucher against it so that the number could be read before you dropped it in a bucket. Somebody said that they were asked to rip them in half before dropping into the bucket

Perhaps they have decided that is the easiest way to do things. I don't suppose it should take much longer than normal to book in. They generally only did one at a time. It's just the position of the queue that has changed.
If you get 10 plus vans turn up at 12 or 1 you are going to get a queue unless you just take cards and sort payment later, which to me seems the best system if there is a rush.

The only difference with the "Frenzy" arrivals at 1200/1300 is it seems only one member in the office With the "new?" way of booking in maybe more "advise" from site staff is being given (and forgotton)that is slowing booking in which in time will be the "norm" and will be accepted as all things

Just returned from Putts Corner. It is a fairly tight site anyway and it was full. Social distancing, never been heard off down there apparently. Well, as you know charging full prices for reduced facilities. This means toilet and shower facilities reduced by two thirds and made unisex. The top toilet block had one toilet and one shower in each facility, so two of each for vast number of people. The rubber bands do not work for two reasons, one reserving a space in advance by an unpleasant few but more common forgetting to take it when leaving. The pressure on these facilities is unbearable. Non stop and queuing when consider time taken to use toilet and shower could be a 15 minute episode. Not cleaned between each visit but that impossible. it has been accepted that Covid can be caught through faeces. Really unpleasant. Why not leave full facilities available and trust people to behave responsibly, after all we have all got used to this social distancing lark. Spoke to warden who said numerous complaints and people have left early, like ourselves. If only third facilities open why not third of pitches to match? Feel way back slowly with cautious steps. Seemed Club purely interested in maximising income. Some of the folks using sites at moment, are risk takers but have travelled from all parts of UK. Other than Warden out on site , did not see a face mask at all being worn anywhere. Beware.

Currently staying at Bridlington site our first trip after lockdown, the site even though pretty full, seems quiet, social distancing being adhered to. We have used the toilet blocks: blue wristbands (pink for women) are in a small container of a Milton solution outside on wall. Before entering the facilities take one out and put it back in when you leave, there’s three showers to use and every other loo is closed along with cubicles and urinals. I have read reports of people keeping the wristbands but I’m still not too sure what kind of an advantage that would be especially if there’s a queue (which so far I’ve not encountered). Facilities are very clean, cleaning times are longer but that is keeping us all safer. We are enjoying our stay, which is a big bonus as we nearly didn’t come due to concerns about Covid safety measures, we are now looking forward to the next one in three weeks.

We spent the weekend at Ferry Meadows and it was very nice, Checking in was quick and they had a warden at the gate asking the driver to stay in the car and the passenger to check, one way system in the shop / reception. Toilet blocks have the band system and it worked well for us, we didn't see queuing for the facilities and to be fair we spend very little time in the toilet block anyway. People kept away from us and we did the same at water points and bins, We were happy to finally get away and we really enjoyed.

Not a comment on club sites, haven’t been able to get a pitch this year, but an observation on other sites. I’ve had a few stopovers at commercial sites this year and have been struck by the number of large groups. Sites are restricting day visitors and observing all the necessary CV measures, but some folks are getting together in groups well beyond what the current guidelines would allow at home. Very little social distancing in such gatherings as well. I’m generally not a fan of pitching near large groups, but even less so this year.
Before anybody mentions it, yes I know this thread is about safety measures on club sites, but if they’re all full, many will be looking at other options.

Many thanks to our hosts at the Castleton site for a very enjoyable and secure stay.
At 3pm on arrival day there was a small queue to get through reception (one at a time in the office).
We had wrist bands to ensure only three at a time went into the toilets and some sinks were closed to ensure social distancing. Very little waiting time, with small queues for the ladies being the most noticable.

We went to Buxton club site friday 10th till sunday . arrived after work at 18 45 , nobody else waiting expected to pay over phone but was asked to go into reception paid as normal - contactless card payment . given welcome pack and a blue and pink wrist band ( thought I was all inclusive ) when you visit the toilet block 3 hooks to hang the band on if 3 bands hung up then wait until someone leaves . I showered later that night at 10.30 pm no one else in block every other shower and toilet cubicle closed as was all urinals .Didnt see any queing all weekend and the sight was practically full . No issues with social distancing around site and wardens kept smiling . Enjoyable weekend .
Well Done CAMC

Could someone who's been on a site tell us about the process to select a pitch- are they allocated, do you select from one's available with a site map on the phone or in reception?
We have had good posts on facilities and payment by phone- thank you most helpful

For most club sites that was just the first day of re-opening. No allocation of pitches from second day onwards (with maybe one or two exceptions) but club sites are apparently mainly quite full now and so pitch choice will be quite limited.

Evening
So, we're doing one in one out at reception to take payment which takes a lot longer than times gone by. After that you go and choose your pitch from that days availability, as you used to, then report back to reception with pitch number. It's going ok so far, just need a little patience.
We've learnt a lot the last two weeks and we're still trying different things to make things go as smooth as possible.

- My concern regarding the toilet blocks is that only 3 toilets are available for use so everyone is using the same cubicles without cleaning in between use. Why not have all cubicles open. if masks are sufficient surely a wooden partition is ! Still the limit number of persons able to access at any one time but this avoids continued use of same 3 toilets( as hubby describes it hot seating 😂😂)

I suppose with all the extra cleaning which is a must, cleaning 3 cubicles at a time instead of every single cubicle is more practical to keep the block available as quickly as possible. And as previous poster mentions, perhaps each user could help themselves and others, by taking in their own anti bac cleaning materials. Personally, I’m quite happy and indeed want to, take in my own sprays to cover the handles etc where other people touch for my own peace of mind. Every little helps!

Morning,
The closing of part of the facilities has nothing to do with "keeping the block available as quickly as possible". Govt. advice is to try and maintain 2 meters distance inside the block irrespective of wooden partitions Remember, those partition walls don't go floor to ceiling.
Without these measures in place we wouldn't have any facilities at all.. We're trying our best to maintain a safe environment for everyone, but I'll make no apology if that doesn't suit.

to save all this fafffing about at the toilet blocks, surely it would have been far better for the club to have kept the toilet blocks closed and insisted that people use their own facilities, would have saved a lot of hassle for the wardens, and reduced the risk of infection to both the wardens and the happy campers, no collecting rubber bands or not collecting rubber bands, no trying to reserve a slot, etc. but well done to the wardens, life cannot be easy.
