This is our first caravan trip to france and would like some advice on where to overnight stop around 6 hours into France heading to Argelès-sur-Mer.
Any help greatly appreciated

That sort of time will take you to Tours, Bourges or Dijon, depending on the route you choose. All three have respectable sites listed in the Clb's Touring France guide - an invaluable source of advice for a first visit.

Which way are you heading down/
If down the east route then the municipal site on the outskirts of Beaume would make a decent stop. They have an on site restaurant (low key) but not every night. If not open then it's a 10 minute walk into the centre of a pleasant French town in order for you to sample some French food.
If you are not travelling that far then the municipal at Troyes isn't far from the motorway.
Somewhere between the two is Auxerre. they have a few campsites just off the motorway network. Again the municipal is fine for a one night stop.

I was in danger of being timed out on the other reply.
So if you intend to go down the centre then there are 2 sites just off the motorways, one off the A71 at Salbris and the other a little further on the A20 just south of Chateauroux. Both very convenient for rejoining the motorway network.

Hi,
I Deleted User my previous reply due to some typos which I couldn't edit for some reason.
Argeles is an area I know well and have travelled down to many times. We stay at a good family owned site in Canet Plage so not far from Argeles.
From Calais I always avoid the Paris area by going via Rouen, then towards Chartres via the N154. Then from Chartres to the A20 at Orleans. Once on the Peage you head towards Clermont-Ferrand which is via the A75. This is the longest stretch of toll free motorway with the exception of the Millau Viaduct (14 Euros I think).
There are many sites not far from this route one has been mentioned at Salbris.
If you are up to it I always stop at Camping International which is 2 minutes from the A75 at the village of Saint Flour.
The site is not far from the little village with fuel and supermarkets etc. I always stop here on my return from Benidorm which I can get to in around 12 hours towing the caravan. It's all do able, but only if your up to the drive.
Ps I drive a 44ton articulated truck for a living.....

Used to live near Beziers and would endorse harleymlb's route. Don't think you'll make St Flour in your 6 hours but there are plenty of sites on the route and so long as you do not leave it too late to stop I wouldn't bother booking, just stop when you have had enough.
