Well the bowlers ( and S African batsmen ! ) shewed England what 5 day cricket is all about !! Not sure if Anderson is breaking down again 'cos the Talksport 2 common taters said he left the pitch several times today. His figures were still good but it is a worry for me, never mind the Selectors !

So it appears that poor old Anderson is living up to the "Old" part of his name. Scans on his side shew a strain - the bane of all fast bowlers and such a right pain to eradicate ( pun intended ) that its unlikely he will be fit enough for a full tour now. So very sad that, despite his obvious discomfort, he was part of the successful attack this week and probably for the last time.

Well, 2 -- 1 up and all ready for the next round !!
Not sure at present on the England team to take part in the Battle for the Basil D'Oliviera Trophy. Talksport 2 at Eight o'clock A.M. could curdle Brian's porage if he's not already scoffed it .

Really pleased to see England win the series after such a dodgy start .Great to see the youngster's all put in a good shift . I feel that English cricket is in safe hands with these lads coming through. Roll on Australia and the next ashes.🏏🏏.

And so the resumption today of a very different Test Match against Windies.
Will the broadcasters be introducing "crowd noise" as per footy, or will they just let us hear the stump microphones and that long forgotten sound of leather on willow?
I suppose the stump mics will need to be turned off as it's been shown before the watershed.

I really should have expected this !!
Four months in the dry then Queued In The Rain yesterday for my first 2020 hair cut and again in the late afternoon at Morrison's for a stock of " Crikkkit Sundries " to sate my taste buds and today I wake up to grey sky, lowering clouds and " confused of commentators " 'cos it's all turned grey, mizzley and generally yeuk as far as TMS is concerned. Scared to attack the 'sundries' for lunch in case the hair cut has weakened me and I fall asleep and so miss the Opening Overs of Summer Cricket 2020.
P.S. / Edit Does anybody out there know if one hand sanitiser is better than another as far as grip & control is concerned to a seam bowler ??

DAMMIT !!
T.M.S. Breaking Protocol already !! Lemon Drizzle cake being consumed by anybody who can kick 'Tuffers' out of the way -- T.M.S. Commentary Box staffers are not permitted to accept cakes from their adoring { !! } audience this summer but a certain multi-talented lady cricketer / commentator made one herself. I wonder if a slice will be wrapped, packed and despatched to Lord Geoffrey ??

Surely Lord Geoffrey will be shielding until the end of July? I've heard he wants nowt t'do wi caaake from t'public, preferring only a slice o'homemed parkin.
Prospects not looking too good for much play today ☹️ Another 3 day test then 👍0 -
## He keeps eatin' paarkin, He keeps eatin' paarkin,
He keeps eatin' paarkin, that's why he is so brown !! ##
{ After checking on his medical / surgical history I'm not surprised Lord Geoff is still Isolating }
Agree about the lack of prospects for play today -- No weather interruptions just the usual lack of talent.
P.S. / Edit Just heard that the Donkeys are back on Blackpool beach ~~ no further comments needed from Brian I think

A paltry 204 with a very menacing Archer taking 6 wickets. I couldn't believe Sir Micheal of Vaughan's comment overheard on Sky, 'Two hundred will be a reasonably good score!' This is a test match remember! We expect one or two of the openers to score that many on their own!! Maybe we're being taken for a ride on one of your donkeys Brian?

Posted at 06:27 Jonray ??
Why do I get the feeling that you are still dreaming Laddie ~~ t'was Holder getting 6 of our wickets, unless Archer is a spy and is hypnotising us. Anyway Englands team is experimental as they proved with the pathetic excuse for not selecting Broad, -- wanting to see how the others perform in the pressure arena is a load of rotten spuds !! Nobody has played for ages so you pick those known to really train & practice hard before seasons start.

Ahh! You spotted the deliberate 😉 I think Holder should be English, just like Jofra and then for the first time ever, we'd have the top 2 ranked all-rounders, in the same team 👍😀
The contest between Stokes and he is a fascinating one, with our man just slightly ahead after today's play (good catch by Jofra, too)
Did you know there's more than one six o'clock in a day Brian? 😉
And so we start tomorrow 99 runs behind.............."The bowlers Holder, the batsmen's Burns" doesn't quite have the same ring as Holding and Willey 😂

12:15 hrs
West Indies 7 runs for 1.5 wickets ( Campbell is retired wounded at present !!! Hope he's not related to another W.I. batter who terrified bowlers if he started limping etc )
Think I'll take a tablet so I can enjoy a decent lunch in an hours time

I think YOU should have had that pill, Rog, you young scamp !!
I heard the TMS scorer say that England & Wales Cricket Team never lost the First match of a summer series from ca 1996 to 2017 but have done that in two of the last three !! These newer players would not have lasted three overs in the nets under Closey and others of that vintage believe me !!
Now we are about to see the latest standard confirmed { I'd not like to be stood, standing between the faster bowlers and young Broad should they meet in a darkened area !! }
Doomed, doomed, we're all Doomed Mr Mainwaring
P.S. / EDIT :-- Roger this is not part of a plan at all, just the result of poor crikkiters being selected !!

A much better, if slow, performance by the English batsmen. They will have to continue in the same vein tomorrow, though a total of over 300 could be a good target, as the pitch is already starting to break up a little.

I think it's looking good for England & Wales at present. Some of the W. Indians are shewing signs of tiredness ~~ I think they have not had enough time on the practise grounds, alas. I'm not criticising them 'cos I really think they are proper little heroes, all of 'em, for turning out to play this series at all !!
0 -
Agree with your last statement, but our lads haven't had a lot of proper practice either. Neither side could be called match fit yet.
We've managed to post a decent total today, but the WI could well have been 2 wickets down at the close as we missed out on a video appeal I think.

OH I've been such a good boy this w/end !! Never once have I been grumpy or acidic over the crikkit ( Granted I ain't posted since 16th !! )
Well I would be good wouldn't I coz E & W have just beaten W. I. in the second LockDown Test of 2020 !!
Now We've got to build ourselves up for Test 3 starting on Friday !!
## Sunshine, Sunshine Happy Day, Off to the Cricket Match I'm Away,
Somebody else can work for me, I'm a happy Absentee !! ##
OK OK I Know I'm not actually going there, but I can pretend can't I

Well the Third and Final Test Match against the W. Indies starts today and it will be the final game for "The Wisden Trophy " ~~ in future it will be for the Richards ~~ Botham Trophy. With the threat of rain over part of the w/end I reckon the Windies just need to hold on for a draw in order to maintain their hold on the Wisden.
But with a 6' 7" 22 stone off spinner I won't be arguing the toss !!
