Anybody seen Ro lately?

Very likely.
It's unusual for her not to post when so much is amiss.🤷🏻♂️

Hmm, how do you know what Ro's doing? 🤔

Maybe they are quite happy for the site to trundle along as it is for the time being, more members getting every more frustrated with it and so posting less, and in the end they can turn round and say that as there are so few using it they may as well just close it down for good.
My goodness, only half a dozen server errors before I was able to get this written. It must be on the way up, then again maybe not.

More server errors trying to post on here!!
Edit My first post showed up as a S E hence this one and then both appeared, how very strange, but it's so slow too.

Server error again.
That would certainly put a stop to all the different sections and decrease immensely the bitching and bickering that goes on from time to time, HD. Members would not be able to follow a single thread as all topics would be intermingled.

well at least that will be free to you Husky

It seems that it is just certain pages of various discussions now that are causing the system to go into meltdown. The final page of the Recent Maintenance of Web Site in this section, and pgs 3654 in the What are you up to post in the General Chat section, are the ones I've found.

For me it has varied all afternoon NTH with this one settling down and quite fast now while others like you say are totally un-openable.
Perhaps various threads are kept on different servers, or different part of the server?

What's that funny thing in the bottom left hand corner, when you get to the sign on screen?
Seriously, is there any reason why it should be called CHAT when that is what I am trying to do by logging on?
Surely the club are not paying someone to directly reply to members questions?

CC, I believe that the system is all on one server.
It was working last night but now seems to have gotten much worse today. I was able to clear the blocked page 23 on the Recent Maintenance post by repeatedly adding posts, but one can't access that page. We had a similar problem on CT a long while ago with pages locking up and that's how I remembered the way to get past it.

Good question!!! Unfortunately the path chosen by the Club was to have a forum integrated into the main website. Most forums are stand alone. The problem with this model is that it has to compete for IT resources, and usually fails because it is always going to play second fiddle to the main Club website. For years some of us have been saying it should be a stand alone forum but despite some support for this in the Club they have thus far been unwilling to make the investment which is in complete contrast to the investment in Social Media where clearly they feel that can engage a larger audience.

They really just dont get that interweb thing.
The clubs digital offering is just not fit for purpose and decades behind what could be achieved. They dont invest in the forum because it is not used by enough members, members dont use the forum because the club dont invest in it. Chicken and egg.
The problem is that the main website is poor, confusing, slow and clunky. They have market dominance, huge loyal user group, and really good product. If they just understood how to monetize this using digital platforms then they would rule the world.

They dont invest in the forum because it is not used by enough members
I'd amend that statement to not enough members regularly post.
I think there is eveidence enough that many members do post just not regularly and of course we don't know how many just read it but never post.

Hi Gwfe,
If this were an App then I could tag others, (eg phishing, peedee, DavidKlyne etc), who’ve responded in my reply to you & they would receive a notification that they’ve been mentioned in a comment.
An example of a successful, comprehensive, modern, slick & user friendly App, which is used by millions of members both in the UK & worldwide, is Weight Watchers. Their App is in addition to their main website & costs £6.95 per month for any member who has achieved their Gold weight status. On-line only members & class attending members pay different rates.
A CAMC App could be so advantageous to Members, Staff & the Club itself & would greatly assist with arrivals on site, (assuming a signal was available) during this Coronavirus pandemic.
Maybe it’s something the Club seriously need to consider, especially as the youngsters of today live in a IT world & are accustomed to modern technology - they are are also the CAMC’s future members......

well as TW reminded me, I am a relatively new comer to CT but am rapidly going away from using it due to poor performance and i am sure i am not alone, maybe that is the plan, make it has hard as possible to use then just switch it off due to lack of interest . Seems to be running ok just now, but it is normally reasonably ok early morning and late evening probably due to usage being somewhat less.

It's just going through another bad spell. Eventually someone from IT will kick the right bit and we will be up and running (we'll more like stumbling) again.
Over the last few years I seem to recall a few episodes like this. In one instance we lost about 2 / 3 weeks of posts for several days and the site had to be turned off for a while to retrieve them. I think it's just that we tend to forget.😂
The conspiracy theories, re closing it down, are usually trotted out at this time. It's not happened so far.😀

MrsR, there already is an app but if you think folk will pay £80 p/a for a second app just to run CT, you're way off beam. I can get Amazon Prime for that sort of money!

Don't stress it, Rufs. Steve's right and this stuff happens but eventually it'll all come right. Meanwhile, other forums are out there to stop us getting withdrawal symptoms. 😄

Hi TW, maybe join Weight Watchers instead! Lol....
There’re countless categories/groups on their App, (as there is on here), from hobbies/interests, pets, age, cooking, locations/regions, travel to health/wellbeing & even cooking/eating ‘on the road’. All easily accessed with no time-consuming, frustrating server errors.
It has lots of features & is really good value for money .....
Thanks for your informative reply anyway

My suspicion is that Club Together doesn't fit with the current Club image which is all based around Facebook and Twitter and I don't think this forum is seen as as being that relevant in Media terms. Eight years ago when this forum was started the likes of Facebook had not reached the heights of popularity it now enjoys, not only with individuals but also commercially. It is probably the latter which is driving the Club's Media operation as they know they can reach far more people than on a forum like this. You would hope that the two could run hand in hand with the same priority being given to both but I would suggest that is currently a one sided battle?

I'm one of the 21% of non FB users in the UK. CAMC has provided social contact by various routes, part of their articles of association, a good thing really. So even if the forum is seen as "old fashioned, old hat or just plain old" I'd be glad if someone somewhere can fix it?!
